I tend to start with one of the franchise shops like the Drain/Rooter guys because of the special coupons. What started out as $49 quickly turned into $125 for snaking and when the tech couldn't unclog the the pipe he recommend their hydro or descaling treatment. Both options were over $1000. I thanked and tipped him for his time and moved onto plan B, search Yelp. Only Plumbing caught my eye and felt like a local Mom and Pop shop. called and ended up speaking to Oscar who's approach was kind, gentle and was super knowledgeable giving out many free tips and advice. He laid out all the option we can try and was available later in the evening if I can wait. My stressed and impatient self wanted someone out sooner rather than later so try searching online hoping for a fix by dinner. Well this was a bus when the second guys showed up, looked at the situation and went right into recommended hydro-jetting at a super high cost of over $2000. Thanked and tipped him for his time. Remembering Oscar's advice to descale instead of hydro-jet because of the liability from the second floor I knew at this point i needed to take a deep breath, say serenity now and wait for Oscar to be available. Oscar went above and beyond for over an hour trying to snake the clog hoping for the cheapest fix. Soon realizing we needed to bring in the big guns and try descaling the pipe. my pipe had smaller diameter but this talented Oscar modify the chains to fit my pipe. Let me just say the sound of continuous running water was music to our ears. I can feel the stress melting away as I realize he did it. He was able to determine the entire laundry standpipe did NOT have to be replaced, and offered a solution that was CHEAPER than originally estimated! That is a true mark of integrity and honesty, when other companies advised me to repipe, hydrojet, or even epoxy coat the ABS standpipe (which is already plastic). He was able to explain what he was doing and also how the other plumbing companies were overcharging for unnecessary work. Don't trust the big companies with their outrageous quotes... I had a clog in my bathroom sink…read more had VIP sewer come out to do a snake but the associates came in so hot right out the gate on blatant upsells and "issues" that could not be resolved with just a snake. even so far to point out that there's teflon tape on the pipes that can't be replaced / they don't the specialty tape... TEFLON tape?! hahaha i ain't stupid. once they snaked and was not able to get through, they said that the next step was to find the clog in the wall open the wall cut out the pipe and replace (a 1.5k+ job) i asked if there were any other options like hydro-jetting or such and they said hydro jetting would spew out everywhere not able to be done second floor i did my due diligence and called a few contractors that knew plumbers that werent on yelp a guy came in the next day, hydro-jetted the clog out in 30 minutes without needed to do any of the above, and only charged me $60 lol beware of the upsell! + though, since they did not get the clog out they did not charge me, just off putting on the blatant upsell. the owner seemed nice though.

A+++ and 10 STARS review of Handyman Daddy's outstanding work on our home! We hired Ivan to do…read moremultiple repairs after a home purchase. A coat closet had water damage prior to our purchase. After a mold remediation company ripped out wet dry walls, baseboards, floor and closet door, we got price quotes from two handymen to rebuild the closet and outside wall. We hired Ivan based on his 5-star reviews and competitive price quote. He showed up at 11 am and worked hard until 8 pm to finish the job in 1 day. He also patched ceiling holes made by the mold remediation company and repatched a kitchen wall that was badly done by another vendor. Ivan's finished work looked amazing, as if there were no prior damage before we hired him. We were so pleased that we hired Ivan again to replace an old porcelain undermount kitchen sink (2 bowls/2 drain holes) with a bigger stainless steel drop-in single bowl sink (1 drain hole). I picked a sink to purchase but thankfully, Ivan measured the old sink and counter cut out space and said my choice would not fit without him cutting the counter. I then bought a different sink only after Ivan approved its specifications and it fits perfectly in the existing space. Again, Ivan worked nonstop for 4 hours to remove the old sink and install the new sink. After removing the old sink, he saw that part of the granite counter in front of the sink was weak due to existing cracks in the granite. He immediately went to Home Depot to buy wood to reinforce the counter before installing the new sink. He also resealed all around the sink including below the sink to make sure no moisture will go underneath. It's this kind of attention to detail and very thorough work that made us very glad that we hired Ivan. On the same day, we also asked Ivan to replace a failed water shutoff valve under the bathroom sink. Again, his work was perfect and clearly showed he is knowledgeable and does excellent work in many areas of home repair. We already have other home projects in mind for him to do and we highly recommended him to our family and friends.
