During the Summertime, around the festival season and generally all year long the Rundle Mall is the prime place to encounter Adelaide's thriving busking scene. The range is broad, from performance artists, magicians, jugglers and comedians to music of all sorts, from the professional level right down to young children (please don't do that to your poor kids). A couple of acts to watch out for are Andy Salvanos on his 10 String Chapman Stick, Oscar Asbanu on the didgeridoo and bongo drums, the combined feats of Izera Stephen the long 80's rock out keyboardist and Iddi Wahzeli the limbo man and my favorite, Peter Hacquoil the Piano man, who has gone to the trouble of installing wheels on his piano so as to be able to take it out on the street. There also is the flute playing biker, who is pretty damn cool.

Rundle Mall is the sprawling shopping precinct infamous in Adelaide for its stores, events, attractions, history and loons. It was a large thoroughfare for motor traffic ever since its inception, until Don Dunstan closed it down in the 70s and made it only accessible to pedestrians. Since then the mall has seen an explosion of retail and dining all the way through it, and arcades previously existing and newly built service the area to aplomb. If you need something, anything, chances are you'll find it in Rundle Mall. Events are frequently held in the Mall. National and festive holidays see the Mall dressed up in all manner of ways to attract consumers and concerts have been known to happen from time to time. Community and corporate organisations also set up shop in the Mall to spruik their wares to the passerby. It's a terribly dynamic space, and the most visited attraction in South Australi as a result. There are famous attractions even within the Mall such as the Malls Balls and the Malls Pigs, which are as quirky as they are impossible to explain. The buskers are great too. In the day you'll see jugglers, singers, magicians and even kids playing their trumpets to the crowd to score a few bucks. At night, you'll see blokes perched in the alcoves strumming electric guitars and doing requests for passing drunks. My favourite thing about the Mall though, is the locals. It's the best spot in Adelaide for people watching. Sometimes the groups that assemble here are as ludicrous as they are offensive (religious and political organisations make a meal of passing crowds), but mostly the nutjobs you get hollering, busking, bathing in the fountain or having loud, protracted conversations about how good their hamburger is are harmless and hilarious. Overall, Rundle Mall is a source of pride for South Australia and should top the list of any traveller coming to visit our state. Opening hours vary in most stores, but the mall is open to foot traffic 24 hours a day.

Peace Park is a somewhat ironic name for a memorial to those killed in World War I. The price of…read morepeace is high, and this is a beautiful place to dwell on what peace is an how we have sought to achieve it in the past. The centerpiece of this park is the Women's War Memorial Cross of Sacrifice and its Memorial Garden. Backed by St Peter's Cathedral, the cross holds a striking place in the park, as everything spans from it. I'm not sure how a cross symbolises the deaths of these men, but I have no doubt there are many ways to interpret it. To the side of the garden is the Eternal Flame Remembrance, also dedicated to "those who made the supreme sacrifice." Though beautiful, this place makes me rather sad. Though I agree we should remember those who died, I don't think it's a matter of making them heroes, but of reminding us not to let it happen again. This is a strange place, juxtaposing the beauty of nature and the sorrows of humanity.

The Cross is made of Tea Tree Gully stone and there is a large sword on the face. I have to admit I've never understood the significance of the cross but can only assume it is a tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice. Every year on Anzac Day the crowds gather at the Cross of Sacrifice after the march for a service to pay tribute to the fallen. It is always a poignant ceremony and more than one or two tears are inevitably shed. This is such a solemn and almost sacred area that being there at any time of year, one can almost feel the sadness and the grieving in the air. And yet it is also a beautiful place.

I am definitely a fan of this playground but something held me back from giving it five stars…read more Perhaps it was the dated equipment, perhaps it was the lack of equipment designed for the much older children, perhaps it's the lack of shade over the playground, or perhaps it was the long distance to the toilets, I'm not sure but let me tell you what's great about this place. This playground is fully fenced and the entire space has a rubber flooring. There is a drinking fountain, tap, table/chair and BBQ all within close proximity to the playground. Unfortunately there isn't any shelter/shade over the table but with the massive gum trees in the park, there is some shade depending on the time you visit. This is a great place to come but for me, it slightly falls short of my 'destination' playground status. Maybe I'm having a bad day lol. There's PLENTY of space to kick a ball or throw a frisbee outside of the fenced playground area. *Dogs allowed* *Drinking fountain and tap* *Table/chair area (not sheltered)* *BBQ* *Toilets (walking distance)*

My kind of park is one that has a great moat of green protecting a toilet right in the middle. Nothing else actually matter. And a drinking fountain too? Benissimo! There's a wide area and plenty of space to play with balls. There's your usual playground. There's a barbecue. And that's about it. But there's nothing more you need. Of course, there could, perhaps, be a little more shade. We're in Australia, after all, not Siberia. But, regardless, this is a nice park. If it's your local park, it's worth being proud of.

Then when I checked out the actual KINGS RESERVE I became excited! There's parking down Meyer Street, down near the Thebarton Aquatic Centre and it's the closest you will be able to get the car to the playground. There's a lot of equipment for a variety of age groups and abilities. There's also a skate park and basketball hoop not too far from the playground. Bring some sausages and use the BBQ....your children will be here for quite a while! There are toilets, a drinking fountain, table/chairs and more than enough space to do any sort of activity you would like (provided there aren't sporting groups using the space). Lots of fun to be had here! Perhaps the only thing missing that would make me feel more comfortable about staying here for a long time is that there isn't a great deal of shade. I burn so easily and while the table/chair area is under a tree, some solid shade for parents not chasing their children all over the place would be great. *Dogs allowed (not near playground)* *Drinking fountains* *BBQ* *Basketball hoop* *Skate Park* *Table/chair* *Toilet*

It doesn't exactly go above and beyond, but it serves the local community well. My main gripe is that the local football team put chains over the goal posts so they can be used by the community - despite the fact that our rates pay for the field! I like to come and kick around a bit with friends occasionally and it would be nice to actually use the posts. Conveniently the reserve is just across the road from the Brickies, so we pop over there for a beer after the game. Other than this, I'm pretty satisfied. There is bubblers and shady spots (could be a few more of these, but not a big problem), a kid's playground and a skateboarding bit.

These gardens are actually quite lovely, and pleasant, and they do provide a lovely place to lie down and enjoy a nice day, especially if you happen to be board between classes. Of course there are a few animals down here as well, though I would hold off from feeding them, and I discovered the hard way. However, this place certainly does have quite a lot of charm about it.

There's just deep personal satisfaction gained from walking or jogging through here, alongside River Torrens, crossing the dark green Victoria Drive bridge, looking up at the tall trees before me - everything about this place makes anyone's experience absolutely breathtaking. One of the first places you need to go if you are new and exploring Adelaide, I've overhead plenty of tourists walking past here. This Garden is definitely one of the best places for a stress-relieving walk...ahhh.....I'm away from the noisy hustle and bustle of the city!

Old (out of date) reviews & pictures of the park mention the space is a little rundown, however this has all changed! The playground is only around 12 months old and is small but AWESOME! There are two trampolines built into the squishy soft-fall ground, along with a super-fun multi-person swing and a great rope climbing-frame. The slide is definitely more suited at younger children, but I come here with the 3-12 year-olds I work with and they all tend to find something to keep them entertained. In addition, the outdoor gym equipment has all been replaced in the last few months. I haven't used it, but it is all very new and looks like it offers more resistance and more of a work-out than the old stuff. As for the 'skate park', it's not huge, but should keep local teens (and the fully grown blokes I see on it often) entertained. Finally, older reviews also stated there was little shade. Again, this has changed. The shade is plentiful and is a mix of trees and sails/shade cloth. There are also two barbecues, one which is completely shaded. If you live in the area I highly recommend you check out this little beauty.

Dogs are permitted to run free, but only between 5pm and 10am. The setting is natural and full of native veg, but lacks shade.
