I was led to this place with my eyes closed by an old girlfriend for my birthday. It was very Hollywood, and though I've usually averse to these sort of rom-com experiences, the Angas Gardens completely swallowed me up and I FELT it.
The four stars is in that moment. Particularly since I was facing the wondrous rose garden when my vision was given back to me (which, as anyone who's visited the Gardens before knows, is a long walk to do whilst visually handicapped).
Now, my birthday's in the winter, so I've experienced this place at its very worst. I've heard, however, that in the spring this place is much, much better.
Mario tip: If you're coming here for a stroll or a lie down, you'll be fine. If you come for a picnic, don't bring any liquids. Otherwise, be prepared to go bush. And run if you're caught. There are no toilets. read more
