So, on my first beach vacation after pandemic lockdown to the Florida Panhandle, I knew I'd have to check out Run with It (RWI) in Fort Walton. True to expectation, RWI had great gear from trusted brands and a friendly & knowledgeable team to help customers find what they needed. I was really impressed with how many people were present in the store, which gave me hope they are doing okay during this tough time for small, independent businesses. As longtime runners know, the local running store (LRS for short) is also a great place to find out any races or social run events happening during your visit which could serve as a fun way to see the city on foot while getting your workout done. RWI is no exception and you can find upcoming events on their social media pages. A big surprise was finding RWI gear for the tennis/ping-pong hybrid that's lately all the rage in America - pickleball. My son has been playing this fun sport for years at summer camp in the Texas Hill Country, so it has been delightful seeing it now popping up everywhere all of the sudden. Let me begin with-I am NOT a runner! I'm rather lazy. However I'm not getting any younger and I NEED to run. I need a new pair of shoes so I wanted to support local. They had what I was looking for and a good selection of running shoes. When I went to ring up they charged me $5 for using a credit card. I begrudgingly paid but don't think I would go back. If you need help with fittings and shoe types then local is great but the online mega running store ships free and don't charge CC fees. Guess they lost a customer who buys new shoes 6-7 times a year. Also their return policy lacks. Basically stated if they are used no returns were some places will exchange a pair of shoes that's didn't work for you after a run. read more

The staff can get you in the right pair of shoes for your gait/biomechanics for running (or walking). There is a large assortment of shoes, and a nice selection of apparel for the runner/athlete or someone who just likes athleisure apparel for everyday wear. The owners are sweet folks who support the community, and who sponsor an 8 week Couch-to-5K program twice a year (March and August). The store also organizes several local races (5Ks, 10Ks, and Half marathons) during the year as well as supports the local track club and other groups with races those groups sponsor. Stop in for some new shoes, an outfit, or a neat accessory (GPS watch, hydration bottle, running fuel, electrolyte supplement, sunglasses, or to register for an upcoming local run). I wouldn't shop here if I lived here. The guy who talked to us was not very helpful. My husband is an avid runner and we went in looking for a pair of Vibram Five fingers running shoes. The guy sort of snickered and said "We don't have them. No one has them. Good luck finding them"... and that was the end of the conversation. Not "let me see if I can order them" or "we get shipments on Mondays...". Just bad service. We ordered them online from Moosejaw.com, they arrived 2 days later and we got excellent service. We then drove out past Destin to go to the Under Armour outlet to buy cold weather running gear for our move to Germany because we were so disappointed in Run With It's service. And if Run With It is reading: Only takes one bad experience to turn a customer off of shopping at your store and tell all their friends to avoid you as well. I'm sure anyone who knows me will do a double take when they see me reviewing a running store. I HATE running and need only to run faster than my hiking buddy if there is a bear chasing us. But being a foodie and wino has caught up with me and instead of buying larger pants, I decided to get myself a new pair of running shoes. So that's how I ended up at this place. After gait analysis and examining the pressure points in my feet, the salesman recommended two pairs of shoes and I got to try them out on the treadmill. Three weeks later and I'm still loving the ones I bought. Now I've signed up for the Couch Potato to 5k program and so far so good. Everybody at the shop is really knowledgeable and helpful and some join us on our runs. I don't know if I'll ever love running but I'm beginning to think that it's not so bad. read more

I am a beginner runner and went to the store looking for new shoes. A middle age lady assisted me she gave me look like wondering what I was doing there? I told her that I wanted some shoes for running that I was looking for a new pair and she responded that my shoes were alright, no questions asked, no information on why I wanted to change my old shoes. Very unfriendly and no selling skills at all. Let me give her a free advice, if someone goes into your store to buy, you should sell as many things as they need. I was greeted twice when i came in the store by two happy people. They were glad and show their appreciation that I showed up. They then analyze my needs for the shoe and analyzed how I walked and how how the shoe should fit for me personally. Jeff N Donna suggested A shoe that they told me would decrease my pain in my knees considerably. Did not believe them. I bought the shoes and ran in them now for four months and my knee and ankle pain has decreased 90% if not completely. These people know what they're doing when it comes to shoes. My doctors did not give me any advice and changing shoes solved the problem. Please take your time to at least talk to them about your footwear read more

This is just a neat local running store with a very knowledgable staff. They had a great selection of shoes and even have the treadmill to gauge your running gate and foot strike. I showed up on a Tue night and was fortunate to participate in the weekly run. It was lots of fun and met some great folks. They even had a little beer at the end to "rehydrate". No accountability with special orders! I understand one or two people having a bad day but for an entire month I have been waiting for a pair of running shoes and have gone back every week to hear a different excuse of why they have not arrived. If you have the time here is the story... I first ordered my shoes a month ago in a color they didn't have so it was a "special order" that they wrote down on a piece of paper attached to a clip board. They told me 5-10 business days they will have them, then they would give me a call. I came back from vacation three weeks later with no call... so I went to investigate first they said they didn't come in but they would check, minutes later they said a new employee had not checked them on the special order list and then sold them!!! So I figured they would give me some discount because THEY messed up. NOPE. Asked if I wanted to order them again but promised me they would be here by the end of the week. Now it has been 2 more weeks no phone call and my wife goes in to check on them while I am not available and they tell her they haven't come in yet because I ordered them two weeks ago. I am a very patient man and I have yet to confront them in person about their failures but instead of feel self gratitude on taking my business else where I just wanted to warn you first! I have been running for 11 years, new shoes every 6 months = 22 new pairs of shoes and this has been the worst experience ever! Run With It can host decent races but when it comes to customer service and accountability they are terrible. Until the problem is resolved I am going to leave this post up but buyer be aware. read more

Picked up a pair of Mizuno Wave Rider 21's today and was told the mil discount is only for Active Duty. I've previously been given the discount as a retiree, so this was a surprise. Definitely make sure you are ready to spend money on shoes here because they don't bother telling you that there is no refund allowed, only a store credit. Bought a pair of shoes, spent $100.00 on them and they "watched me walk" brought me some shoes and I thought I found a pair I liked but after wearing them for 10 minutes at home they killed my feet. When I tried to return them they said sorry but no refunds. Would have been nice to know this in the beginning BEFORE I spent that money. Now I had no choice but to get another pair AND pay another $30.00 on top of what I already spent. VERY DISSATISFIED WITH MY PURCHASE AND THIS PLACE.
