Destin is great place for water sports, and kayaking is one of the better hobbies, in my opinion…read more After all, it's great exercise, gets you outdoors into beautiful scenery and after an initial investment, you rarely have to spend money on it. The Kayak Experience is a great place for local, hands-on information, equipment and motivation. The staff here are friendly, knowledgeable and love meeting people who enjoying kayaking. They carry some really nice boats (my favorites being Ocean and Wilderness Systems), paddles, PFD's (Personal Flotation Devices), racks, and, very importantly, accessories. Sure, your boat, paddle and PFD is pretty tough, but straps, springs, leashes and pins tend to bend or break after you put in the miles, and this is the place to get it. If they don't have it (and I have yet to stump them), they'll order it. When the weather is nice, they have demonstrations every Saturday so you can try a boat or two if you're thinking of getting into kayaks. This is a good business, and kayaking is a great hobby.
