For the most part, the gym seems clean and has wipes for one to clean after oneself. I don't know how frequent the turf area actually receives quality cleaning attention so one may opt to use a mat when on the turf area. The gym offers nutritional portions as well. I actually order a Vegan shake once which is so cool (temperature wise), filling, tasty, and sweet though seemingly contains no natural fruits. The establishment has a variety of seating areas. The massage chairs are quite decent. The men's locker room (including the sauna) is quite decent. The group training room offers a different space to vibe which I think is quite cool. I'm finding the Red Light Therapy to be quite interesting post-shower after a workout. I am observing apparent pleasant changes, with particular regard to a fairly recent (months ago) though quite minor allergic reaction postprandial from an eatery I'll likely not order from again by way of delivery. Even so, during a recent use, I notice the machine administering the Red Light Therapy, appears to have a lot of long strands of hair on its floor and in front of its door. I clean the floor of the machine with a few wet wipes which appear to pick up a lot of filth, then throw them away. A different material aside from wet wipes might be necessary to more easily clean the rubber area of the machine. If not already happening, I think periodically checking on the light bulbs will ensure the machine will have all lights functioning more often than not. I like the gym and make good use of it. The establishment accepts different forms of payment.

I did try PT at several other locations prior to contacting Adapt. When I first went to Adapt, I did not think I would be able to do things I used to do such as weightlifting, running, or squatting. I signed up for 40 sessions. I stuck with their treatment and guidance, giving 100% effort and commitment. After 35 sessions, I realized I was generally feeling better. For my last five sessions David got me to a level I only dreamed was possible! David gave full effort every time I went for treatment. He is caring and he is very skilled at determining the best course of treatment. I am now feeling about 99% like my old self. Often I feel 100%. I am ecstatic with the results! I can now lift weights, run, and do squats with no pain or issues! I am super active and have so much more confidence in my conditioning and abilities. I thank Adapt for their amazing treatment and making my positive outcome a reality! Also, Caroline, the front office manager, is genuinely concerned about patents' outcomes. She was the first person I spoke to when I contacted Adapt. She has been so caring and sympathetic with me throughout the whole process. It is easy to think things will not work out when you work hard and results do not come as quickly as you expect. Both David and Caroline gave me the confidence I needed to stick to the plan. Prior to attending this clinic I would go through periods where my back would feel decent & periods were I would have to miss more than 1 week of work at a time, went to the hospital, etc. I always had success with my symptoms at other physical therapy places but I never seemed to get to the root of the problem & find a long term solution until I met Dr. Nicholas Dass. Over the last year not only has my back pain pretty much diminished to almost nothing but I also can actually touch my toes when flexing forward. This is something I have NEVER been able to accomplish in my life as I am not a flexible person. There was no stretching involved. It was all his unique approach and skill set combined with my willingness to put the required work effort in. Dr. Nick has given me my life back. I could not workout for the last 2 years and had put weight on. I now belong to a gym, am working out, & working on losing that weight I had gained. I can also play darts again (a hobby of mine that I love). More importantly, he has given me my independence back where I do not feel that this chronic issue owns me any longer. I now manage it with the tools and knowledge that he has given me. Thank you Dr. Nick for putting in the time, attention, and caring so much! You are making such a difference in your patient's lives!

Can't complain about that! There's plenty of street parking right in front of the boardwalk as well as residential parking nearby. Since I visited after the summer season ended, I had no problem finding a spot at 12pm. If you're going during the season, I would suggest coming much earlier if you want to get a good spot closer to the beach. During the summer season (Memorial Day through Labor Day), beach badges are required from 9am-5pm on weekdays and 9am-5:30pm on weekends/holidays. It's $13 per person. Children ages 11 and under + active military and their dependents are free of charge. They don't accept credit/debit cards, so remember to bring CASH. The beach is beautiful - clear, blue water and clean, soft sand. The crowd is more mature and family-oriented. They do have a lot of rules (no alcohol/smoking/cannabis/canopies/tents/sound systems), but I don't mind. It's not rowdy here, so you'll have a peaceful experience. There are bathrooms, a playground area for children, and a boardwalk. The boardwalk is small, but charming. There are benches for you to sit, relax, and enjoy the ocean view. There aren't many restaurants, bars, games, or entertainment around. They have a snack/food pavilion, but I'd suggest driving a few miles away to Asbury Park or Long Branch for a better dining and night life scene. Seeeeee yaaaaaaaa at the shore!

The pool is accessible only to Clarkstown residents and their guests, so if you're not a resident befriend someone who is. You must obtain a Clarkstown resident ID card first at the registration office at 31 Zukor Road in New City. (The pool won't simply accept a driver's license.) Rates can be either daily or seasonal for individuals or family, and are very reasonable compared to similar community pools.

It's no exaggeration that these monsters from the deep probably kept a legion of child psychiatrists in full time employment. On a recent visit it was nice to see that the previous snake-ridden den of iniquity has long been been replaced with a legitimate pool and that the mythological beasts of years past have been slayed by chlorine and actual cement walls. You can even see right to the bottom. What a concept. This is what Nanuet Lake should have been like all along... no thanks whatsoever to my parents who thought this was some tough love version of Shangri La, albeit minus the all consuming bliss one often finds in paradise. I kid about my parents (almost) and am happy to bestow five easy stars for a childhood reclaimed. I still hate snakes.

When I visited, a large group had formed a circle that occupied an entire section of the small rose garden. There were no signs indicating the area was reserved, and their gathering unintentionally made the space feel closed off to other visitors. In shared public spaces like this, especially in smaller gardens, it is important for any group, whether local or new to the community, to be mindful of the park's norms and not treat the small public garden like it's only for them. Many people visiting or living here may not be aware of how these spaces are typically used, so a little consideration goes a long way in keeping the park welcoming for everyone.

Down the little dirt trail by the stream near Watchung Ave., see if I could make it down the ditch under the bridge, then back up near the duck pond to look at the birds. Over to the playground, down the tall metal slide (burning in the hot sun), on and under the wooden playground (splinters and the occasional scary bee), and riding the swings, both pony-themed and regular. Slow forward to 2025. Brookdale still has the same paved paths. The old dirt trail gradually became a bunch of bumps for dirt bikes instead of my regular bike. The duck pond was filled in years ago but is now a wetlands area. The playground has been modernized a couple of times and is now modern, safe plastic. Still pony-themed swings. The old gravel track is now modern plastic for running or similar sports - though there was something special about sliding my bike around the turns on that gravel track. You just can't ride on a running track. There's an annual softball tournament there we still play, and the fields really haven't changed, though I've heard it's been getting tougher to get things reserved properly. So it's still a wonderful park, but without the ducks and with the complications to holding in park events, the fifth star has gone away with my childhood. That's OK. It will always be 5 stars in my heart.

Having Coach Kai as my coach was a GAME CHANGER! When I decided to do the 2022 NYC Marathon i knew i needed a coach but didn't find one right away. Since time was of the essence, i started training anyway via a virtual coach program but still knew I wanted a real life coach. By chance, I met three athletes who were currently training with him in the 16-week program. Since he came highly recommended, I immediately reached out for a consultation and joined the group around the 7th week of the training program. Coach Kai created a customized 5-day weekly training program via Training Peaks and the workouts synced to my Garmin Watch (which was another game changer as well!). The group meet-ups were on Tuesdays for our speed workouts, and Saturdays for our long runs. Throughout the week the training group communicated via a What's App chat. Coach Kai was also always available to answer any questions within the group or separately. What i really appreciated was that on the long runs (including all double digit miles),, Coach Kai would run with us and do check-ins starting with the fastest pace group to the slowest, until he talked to everyone to see how we were feeling that day and see how our training was progressing. While running together in a group or solo he would make all moments a teaching moment. I also did 1-on-1 training with Coach Kai since I started the program mid-way, so I had a solo weekly zoom meeting with him. We would review my stats for the week and make adjustments as needed and discuss any concerns i had and answer all questions. Because i started to have discomfort in my ankles, he noticed my average cadence was low (which I didn't know anything about prior). I started working to improve and was able to improve from 150+ to a 170+ average. cadence. With his guidance, i was able to recover from the discomfort/pain and be at 100% for marathon day. Coach Kai made sure we were prepared mentally as well as physically for race day. Through our many long runs, we ran over 75% of the NYC marathon course (some areas multiple times) before we even hit the start line. Doing that definitely helped me prepare mentally and be confident on the course. Coach Kai was my first coach and collaborating with him for my first marathon was epic. I learned proper form and mechanics that have helped me become a stronger runner. Because of the rtaining program, I was able to finish strong AND enjoy race day. Coach Kai is passionate about training athletes and unlocking their best! Through the customized training schedules, conversations with the group and his leadership, he set all of the athletes up for success. He provides awesome support and has created a community among the athletes which is great to have. TLDR: Coach Kai helped me shaved over an hour off my marathon time. In 2014, I ran my first half marathon without training and felt amazing because I hit my sub 2 hour goal. I started running races to qualify for the NYC Marathon. After qualifying for the 2015 NYC marathon, I decided to follow a training program I found online. Although the program was helpful, I failed to hit my goal and cramped up severely. I took a break from long distance running for a few years. Then I saw that Coach Kai qualified for Boston Marathon and I became inspired. So I signed up for the 2018 New Jersey Marathon. This time I decided to get professional help and hired Coach Kai. The program started in December 2017 and the race was in April 2018. Despite my unpredictable work schedule and difficulties training during the winter time, Coach Kai adjusted my training regime accordingly. In addition to weekly check up meetings, Coach Kai also ran a simulated 1/2 Marathon with me to test my progress. As expected, I PRed on the simulated 1/2 Marathon and felt confident in my training. A few weeks before race day, I got sick and missed my peak week of training. Coach Kai reassured me that I was ready and we began tapering down. He explained that striving to hit peak week a week late would be detrimental. If I was following a program on my own, I would have pushed myself and not have enough time to taper down for race day. I came into the 2022 running season with some pretty lofty PR goals for the marathon distance and knew that I would benefit greatly from working with a running coach. After asking around a friend of mine told me about Coach Kai whom he'd known about in passing through their mutual community work in Chinatown. After the initial consultation call I could tell that Kai not only cared deeply about his community but the runners he worked with as well. During the season he gave me weekly training and tips that helped scale me appropriately to come within minutes of the goals I'd set for myself. He consistently checked in on my physical and mental health along the way and always adjusted training if needed. He was not only concerned that I hit certain milestones but also that I was healthy for the following weeks and it's something that I appreciate deeply in his coaching methods. I am looking forward to continuing working with him and supporting him as much as he supported me. My wife surprised me with a session with Coach Kai. And I am very happy that she did. Coach Kai is incredible knowledgeable and has a super power of breaking things down into clear and easy to digest information. My goal was to correct my running form, now after 3 sessions, i can confidently say that I now have the knowledge needed to run efficiently and change the path of my current injury while also preventing further injury. I have learned skills, drills and queues that I can use for a lifetime. He works with you not against you, and he helps you to coach yourself. He doesn't lecture or tell you what to do, he urges you to think for yourself and to figure things out so you understand it rather than simply memorize it. This doesn't seem like a job for him, it's a passion and his energy and enthusiasm is contagious. I am very thankful for Coach Kai and the sessions were without a doubt worth it. I have been endurance running for 6 years now. After consecutive injuries over the past 3 years, I knew I needed help. I was introduced to Coach Kai by friends from the Harlem Run running crew. After seeing how he helped improve the performance of serval athletes from that group, I decided to give him a call. It was the best move I made for my running wellness. He began to train me for the Buffalo Marathon, scheduled for May 2020. My goal was to Boston qualify, however the Covid pandemic cxld that race as well as many others. We remained in touch throughout the summer and he encouraged me to continue training. His words were, "goals are not canceled." I recently completed his Run Form program and it has made a wonderful difference in my runs. It now feels effortless when I train. I finally decided to look for a running coach after a second injury in my ankle. I had been a consistent runner and had always trained alone. After my injury I knew it was time to hire a coach and get serious about completing the New York City marathon this November. I only had one session with coach Kai, but it significantly changed the way I view running, my form, and strength training. He slowed down my process and helped me reorganize the way I approach my runs. This morning I completed a 12 mile run, the longest run I've completed since my injury. I am without pain and I owe it to the information that coach kai taught me. I know many solo runners find it difficult to reach out for help, but trust me, coach kai will get you past your plateaus and pains. He's a no nonsense and incredibly kind person. I was given a surprise entry into the NYC Marathon, in my first year of distance running...ever. I was fairly new to the city and while I was connected with a couple of running clubs, I had no notion on how to properly train for a marathon and worried that I wouldn't finish. Enter Coach Kai. I joined his marathon training group program in the last 6 weeks and learned far more than I ever could have training on my own. From water and fuel intake balancing, to correcting my running form for injury prevention, to learning how to successfully run uphill without needing to stop or feeling exhausted afterwards. Coach Kai taught us all these things and more so seamlessly. He's someone you can tell loves what he does and feels joy whenever he can lead his athletes to achieve their goals. Kai prepared a training regimen for my hardest race to date, it was a 12 mile segment of a 50 mile race in St. Croix U.S. Virgin Islands. Kai took the time to really understand what exactly my own goals were and what the course itself was going to expect of me. He not only taught me more than i expected but he tailored a specific and extremely doable training schedule for me. Between my personalized training schedule, his genuine enthusiam, and his support throughout the training process I was able to not only achieve my own personal goals but surpass them. Coach Kai is a great run coach / teacher. I signed up for his running form program because I've felt stuck in my running for a while. We met for 4 sessions in Prospect Park, where he assessed (including filming) and guided me with all kinds of stretches, exercises, and new ways of thinking about my form. I'm so much more relaxed, balanced and running smoother and longer. Coach Kai helped me let go of some old ideas, see what new things I can do. All this, despite my right knee's limitations / old injuries (ACL), by focusing on extending and growing what I've got. I'm training for a trail half and feeling good. I highly recommend the Run Form Program with Coach Kai. I am running a 50K in February and I feel like I have a strong foundation for training. I'm a visual learner, and Coach Kai utilizes picture and video to help assess and explain the mechanics of your own running form. This was extremely helpful for me because; I always want to understand how things are supposed to look and feel. Thanks so much for all your help, Kai! I cannot say enough good things about Coach Kai! With his training I PRed my half marathon by 11 minutes, ran my first marathon successfully in record heat and finished feeling good and injury free. Kai goes above and beyond to explain the "why" behind his training methods - he is data driven and extremely knowledgeable. He knows what adjustments to make to keep you training towards your goal and stay healthy. But beyond that he truly cares about all of his athletes and pushes us to believe in ourselves. read more

I've had a great experience with Run Coach Kai! He's very knowledgeable and personable and makes sure your sessions are aligned with YOUR goals and questions. He lets you arrive at conclusions for yourself with guidance instead of just giving you the answers . Great communication and a lot of fun too! I ran my first sub 2-hour half marathon after training with Coach Kai. I was also able to run the entire training block injury free which was a big goal for me. His workouts are really well thought out, and he checks in often to make sure that everything is going well during training. read more

Andre and Charlie (the owners) really created a platform where everyone can find what they are looking for regardless of their goal and experience level. While filling out the contact form on their website, you will answer questions about your goal, your interest, and availabilities. Andre will then reach out to you to pair you up with the right coach. In your first meeting (which is free), your coach will sit down with you to discuss specific goals you have and how they can help you to achieve them. You will also do a quick screen (how many air squats you can do per minute etc.), to establish a baseline. After that, you are all set to start your session! I wanted to learn weightlifting so of course (this should tell you what a great reputation Jan has) Andre recommended Jan. He is super knowledgeable and experienced. The best part is that he really knows how to coach a beginner like myself. The way he explains the techniques are very easy to understand and relate to, he can pinpoint the strengths and weaknesses in your movements so you know what and how to improve, he also tries to mix things up to keep the session dynamic and fun.
