Wow. Let me tell you something amazing. Here is my story…read more So I had the pleasure of meeting owner / operator Sheryl through some mutual friends. I was looking for a cake for a special occasion and I was pointed in the direction of Sweets by Sheryll. Sheryll was very personable, bubbly, intrigued and very inviting on what I was looking for. She was able to give me a few ideas and options that would best fit what I was exactly looking for. Sheryll, through the whole process was very in tune with letting me know the price, time of completion and time to pick up the cake. I was never left wondering when the masterpiece would be completed. It was a very smooth process. Now let's get to the cake. The cake was exactly, no no it was beyond what I was expecting. The cake was moist, tasteful bite after bite, sweet but not over powering and the final result of the exterior of the cake was epic!! The cake looked so real, that no one wanted to eat it, lol. Once the first cut happened and tasted, you couldn't fill the plates fast enough. The cake was for a work event. We definitely know who we will be going to for our next dessert/cake. Well done Sheryll! You definitely have the talent and skill to make any occasion a special one.

The flavor was sweet, a bit tangy, moist, and looked beautiful. I am quite sure everyone at the event will be ordering from her for any occasion in the future.

I'd been hunting this truck down ever since Jax Truckies announced their arrival on Facebook. Right…read morenow, it doesn't seem like they are doing too much in town other than the subdivision food truck rallies and the Jax Food Truck Food Court, so I waited until they came back to the Food Court and checked them out. This was my first time getting cake/cupcakes from a dessert truck as before it's only been popsicles. Their menu gives lots of options and I'm pretty sure their most popular would be the build-your-own cupcake in a cup. Two layers of cake and two layers of frosting? Pretty cool. I didn't go for this option though as a menu item had already caught my eye, the Breakfast in a Cup cupcake: Blueberry cake with layers of maple buttercream frosting topped with bacon. Yup, I couldn't pass that up. I almost got two of that kind but I wanted something else so instead I went for the Chocolate Strawberry Bliss: Dark Chocolate cake with strawberry buttercream. Gaaaaah! These cup-cupcakes are super-duper moist! The Breakfast one tastes just like homemade blueberry waffles with syrup and the bacon is a perfect pairing! The chocolate one was divine as well but I should have stuck with two breakfast cups. You gotta try this truck!

In addition to their own offerings, they also allow you to make your own creation by choosing the cake type and frosting flavor. Last nights choices were Red Velvet, Cookies N Cream, Chocolate Heaven, Blondest Blonde and a Churro Creation. We got Red Velvet, Chocolate Heaven and Blondest Blonde...so here's the thing - they were all good, but there was nothing special about them. Honestly could have made them at home using a box so that was a bit disappointing. Tiffylee was on the truck and was super nice and like I mentioned, fun selections so if you want something sweet and don't want to bake it, this is a perfect solution.

While Yum is a destination spot for baked goods and custom cakes, they also have a market that features a variety of treasures made by local vendors. If you're in need of a creative and unique gift for any occasion, then Yum is the place to check out. Whether I've needed goodies for my days off or stocking up for a TV marathon night (Stranger Things 4 in one shot), YUM has always had me covered. I could sit here and tell you all of my favorite desserts, but then this review would turn into a novel. I will say that I leave there with at least two scrumptious cupcakes and several bars. Their 5 (or is it 6?) layer bar is outstanding and reminds me of the ones my Mom used to make for the holidays. It's like the one from the Eagle Condensed Milk can recipe, but so much better. If you see these in the dessert case, GET IT....or get 5, like me. They have a Facebook page, where they keep you up to date on upcoming sales and events, as they have loads of different products coming in from day to day. I love that everything is made from scratch and that they're supporting our thriving local community of artists. Yum a Southern Market is well worth the trip, whether you're in the neighborhood or from out of town. A big thank you to the owners and the staff for bringing us such a special place! One important thing to mention is that they are closed on Sundays and Mondays! Till next time, my fellow Yeeps, SUPPORT your local eats and businesses, and as always...SYOY!
