I was traveling in the Washington DC area and was looking for a place to get in a workout. I'm a fan of Rumble Boxing - I've been to their boutique studios in LA and NYC - always had great experiences. Rumble Boxing is a boxing-inspired 45-minute, 10-round, strength and conditioning group workout, crafted around teardrop-style aqua boxing bags and high-intensity strength training circuits. I'm not sure if it's because I registered for the Rumble DC class via Class Pass but my experience was lackluster. There were two ladies at the front desk... they weren't very warm or friendly. I was super nervous about parking because it's DC so I inquired where the best place to park would be... one of the ladies informed me that she didn't know and just to check the signage. To be honest, I feel like they could have been a bit more knowledgeable or at least try to be helpful. I mean, Rumble isn't cheap and definitely touts themselves as "luxury boutique." Anyway - it was my first time to this location so I had no idea where the locker rooms were or where the boxing studio was. Neither of the ladies bothered to show me around. Mind you - I was the first attendee to arrive and there was no else in the lobby area. I mean, one of them could have at least escorted me to the locker room or made me feel welcome. The locker rooms are clean & nice, stocked with amenities such hair ties, DryBar hair products, and towel service. There's a red light sauna, but I'm not sure if there's an extra fee or who can use it. The class was okay. The instructors in LA and NYC are much more engaging and interactive. If it's your first time, they will require you to purchase hand wraps (quick wraps are $8 or $20 for regular boxing wraps) and pay for loaner boxing gloves for $3. Since I was traveling, I didn't have my gear so I was forced to buy the quick wraps. Overall, my experience was "meh." Rumble DC could learn how to elevate the customer and class experiences from the LA and NYC Rumble studios.

Out of all of the boutique fitness studios that I've tried, Rumble is my absolute favorite! I've gone to a studio in NYC as well as a competitor studio concept in the area and the DC location exceeded my expectations! The class a mix of boxing, strength conditioning, arms + abs, and cardio that delivers a sweat drenching full body workout. When signing up for class, you can choose to start on the bag or the floor (I personally love starting on the bags) and each section gets an equal amount of time between both areas. (Note: the bags are water bags which are more bouncier!) During the warmup, the instructor will break down each of the 6 punches and the class format, including transitions and what you'll be doing. You'll go through "10 rounds" of the different workouts, complete with bumpin' music while the instructor guides and motivates you. I'll have to admit that the combos can get confusing at times, but the room is dim and dark so you can focus on yourself! The studio itself has plenty of lockers (several with charging stations inside which are marked) and also has larger lockers in the bathroom. The bathrooms are well stocked with high-end beauty products and all of the toiletries you can think of (hair ties, deodorant, mouthwash, lotion, etc.). There are several photo ops as well as cute swag for purchase. Prices are normal for a boutique fitness studio and there's a slight discount once you purchase a class package. If I lived in DC or closer outside of DC, I'd definitely be more of a regular here. However, I heard a rumor that they'll be opening in VA at some point in the future...

Fast paced environment and 5 star facilities. The first time can be pretty overwhelming since it's a dim environment & you switch back and forth from HIIT workouts to the bags but once you get into the swing of things, it's a good workout. With a lot of people in class and one instructor you have to hold yourself accountable for the most part. It could be easier if you go with friends the first time to get a hang of it. I enjoyed it both times I've gone, Mona was amazing. I would just say try it out and be prepared for a number of different workouts and punching styles. They provide free lockers for your valuables and the first time punching gloves are on them. You have to pay $3 for the wraps and any time following if you don't bring gloves it's a $3 rental.

Rumble Boxing is an Instagram playground located right on M Street. The lobby is decked out with a mural of Ruth Bader Ginsburg next to Notorious B.I.G sporting a pair of boxing gloves. The masterpiece of the entire space is a statue of Abe Lincoln sporting boxing gloves and a pair of classic Jordan I sneakers, a perfect place to get your Instagram likes up. By the DC standard, the lobby is a great size and has personal lockers and a full-length mirror perfect for a workout selfie before class. Checking in is a breeze as the desk is literally right in front of you as you walk into the space. Next to the check-in desk is a wall adorned with Rumble's boxing gloves with the studio's iconic logo on them. Next to the desk is Rumble apparel including hand wraps, sweatshirts, leggings, gloves and more. At check-in, the front desk with ask for your last name, let you know about the studio's amenities (if it is your first time), let you know your bag number for class, and ask if you need quick wraps and gloves. If you do need hand wraps they are a one time fee of $5 and you keep them and gloves are a $3 rental fee unless it's your first time then it's on the studio. Once you've placed your belongings in your locker, grabbed your gloves and put on your hand wraps, you get the pleasure of hanging out on the stadium seating which has some great artwork featuring various celebrity references. When the class is about to begin the studio instructor will make an announcement and guide everyone into the boxing studio. The studio itself is very aesthetically pleasing. There is red lighting as well as a black light that is activated closer to the end of class. The room is split into two sections, one side for the bags and the other side for the floor. All areas an appropriately numbered so you know exactly where you're supposed to be. The instructor will spend the beginning of class teaching everyone the six punches that will be used during class. The six punches include a jab, cross jab, left and right hooks, and left and right uppercuts. After being guided through the punches, the instructor leads a warmup drill of jumping jacks, boxer sit-ups, and mountain climbers. What is unique unlike the traditional long punching bag, Rumble has its own teardrop-shaped, 180-pound water bags designed specifically for their studios. And in case you forget the punches or exercises that you are supposed to be doing, there is a digital display in the front of the room to help you along. Once the instructor tells you to put your gloves on the music starts and they have an amazing playlist that keeps you in the rhythm. The instructor will demonstrate each of the punching sequences and also walk around checking on your form and giving words of encouragement. You go through three rounds of executing punch sequences on the bag and move over to the floor side, back to the bags and then to the floor. Each bench is equipped with weights and brass knuckles underneath but you will have to go to the back of the room for heavier weights. After class, the bathroom is another experience in itself. The immaculate bathroom has three showers outfitted with Dry Bar products as well as six vanity stations complete with blowdryers and other face and body products. The major attraction is the two infrared saunas tucked into the back of the bathroom. This is the type of bathroom that every boxing studio is missing! Rumble Boxing offers an introductory package of two classes for $34 dollars. After that, you can purchase a DC Starter Pack for $75, Rumble Program (12 classes) for $310, Rumble Program (16 classes) for $400, or Rumble Program (20 classes) for $480. If that's a little pricey for you Rumble also offers a Single Class for $34, 5 classes for $165, 10 classes for $320, 20 classes for $600, or 30 classes for $850. These classes have a longer expiration date hence the prices. If private training is your thing then Rumble offers that as well but be prepared to hand over the money. One private training session starts at $165 and a 10 pack is $1450. And for the infamous infrared sauna, 1 session is $25, 5 sessions are $110, and 10 sessions are $200. Rumble Boxing is currently available on ClassPass which an amazing way to try any workout in the area without the membership. Rumble brings edgy energy along with a killer calorie burn. And any place in the studio is the perfect space for that Instagram brag!

This was my first time trying Rumble and it was a great workout! They have gloves and hand wraps for rent if you need them, and hand wraps for purchase. I believe it's $3 for gloves rental and $8 to purchase hand wraps. When you first walk in, it's very spacious and has a clean, modern/hip look. There are lockers available which just require a code and no lock, which is a huge bonus because who carries locks anymore?! There's also someone to help you wrap your hands, if you're like me and forgets how to wrap them, every single time. The instructor will call you into class about 5 minutes early and uses this time to review punches and make sure everyone is in the right spot. When you sign up you decide whether you want to start on the floor or the bag, and pick a number. For example if you're 5B (bag) then you'll be 5F (floor). You'll start with a warmup before you go into the rounds. There are 10 rounds in the class, and each round lasts 3 minutes. Your rounds are split between bag and floor, and each round offers a different combo of either punches or HIIT cardio/endurance/strength on the floor. Honestly the time went by fast but I burned a ton of calories and left feeling pumped (and sore). My instructor, Dawson, was great- high energy, great music and pushed us to keep going. We finished with stretches to cool down. My class size was small, probably only about 10 people, but it was during the week at 10:30 am. My only warning is that if you plan on driving to Rumble, please make sure you leave extra early, to find parking. Otherwise, there are garages nearby available for around $12-15. This area is DC is always busy and parking can be a struggle, so Uber, metro or walk if you can. I'll definitely visit again, but probably won't become a member once my classes expire because it is a bit pricey. But i would definitely recommend the "First Time DC" pack, if you buy one class, they'll give you one free for $34.

Love this place! I love the music, the workout, the amenities, the coaches, the look, the vibe. If i were in a different tax bracket I'd come more often. I love using the infrared sauna (ask someone at the front desk to book after your class), the showers are decent with good hair/body wash products. They have towels and amenities for your shower/beauty needs (disposable razor, q tips, hair ties etc). The workout is amazing- love the dark lit space as you can really zone into your work on the bag or the floor work on the other half of the room. Instructors walk you through proper form and technique and walk you through the combinations/floor workout moves to do throughout the format of the class. You'll do half the class on the bag side, half on the bench side- choose where you'd like to start when you book online. The bench area has weights underneath and at the top end for various uses. The music is fun and motivating as are the instructors. There are also lockers available (you can create a code, ask an employee for help if you need). I believe they also have one on one coaching/PT available and membership packages.

No matter what shape you are in, who you will be entrusting your body to is very important. I can say with full confidence that every single one of the what? three bad reviews? Of Sweatbox  should be cast aside because they are irrelevant since none of them talk about the actual sweat method and what it does to your body. Firstly, if you are worried if fat shaming/ageism exists here. The answer is a firm NO. I am older, I am overweight , and I was  welcomed with open arms, made a part of the family immediately, and that has not changed since the first class. I went to one OrangeTheory location a year or so back and was full on fat-and-age shamed and that made my self esteem spiral down into dark abyss for a very long time. Because words hurt, because I am already so vulnerable and frightened to cross the threshold of the gym, I need support, not otherwise. SweatBox is all welcoming, all inclusive type of place. Yes, they are located inside an exact copy of the Globo Gym from Dodgeball, (I got jokes) but just walk to the back of the first floor, to the Sweatbox counter, as far as I understand, gym and them are two separate entities. I purchased a 7-day, $34.00 unlimited trial pass online, came 30 minutes early for the instruction session (important to come early, instructors won't say no to you if you show up 5 minutes prior to class, but ultimately you are shorthanding yourself on the instruction part - don't you want to know as much as you can about bike set up, and components of training? And remember that instructors have other student s  to take care of prior to class) I began my training on Tuesday, September 3rd, 2019 and I made sure to come every day, dragging my self in sometimes, even if my body screamed to go get nachos instead. The instructors I've experienced during the trial week were: Alexx G Shawn M Kevin D Ashley D I loved all the instructors, Alexx is all tough love, just as described in his bio, but I love his light show and music choices. Kevin has an amazing aura and energy and makes you feel included. Then comes Ashley, wow. I don't know if she somehow hypnotizes the class, but you get in the zone, stop thinking of outside world, and all you focus on is her voice, her example poses, and her corrections, nothing else. At the end of the class, when you finally come to, you realize that you worked out for a full hour and  never looked at the clock once! Shawn is a rare soul. I have my collection of special, big hearted people, the list is short, but Shawn is on it. First of all the energy during his classes is through the roof, he is so charismatic, you WANT to do good to show him your appreciation. But my experience with him is also more personal. When I felt embarrassed, questioned myself, felt weak, cried like a baby after second class, Shawn in the gentlest of ways supported me, was there for me, helped me get past those hurdles and I cannot be more thankful. He always has words of encouragement, listens with attention, he is present. What an amazing human being. To sum up - 15 lbs. down (results will vary of course) and I signed up for an unlimited monthly. They got me good.

The instructors were really helpful and gave me some modification options. It would probably help to have some background knowledge of common lifts, but the instructors show the movements and they play on video screens if you need it. Everyone attending was generally in their own zone, so there isn't a lot of chatting because you really focus on getting the exercises done in the set times. I will say that the classes go by super quickly because you're always moving. Cons: The programming is set for the whole month. So each day of the week has its set program and you do that each week for the whole month. For me, this would get old (I really need variety). On the plus side, it does mean you get to see active gains throughout the month. The membership plan is a little pricey. I get why it costs so much, since they do have to cover rent and you only really attend during the class sessions. It isn't a type of gym where you just drop in when you want to use certain equipment. The unlimited monthly membership is $299, but in reality you are getting 30 or 31 classes depending on the month. Since the classes are the same all day, it is unlikely you would do two classes in a day, right? So the pricing is about $10/class if you do the unlimited monthly pass and you go every day. Some of the equipment was pretty smelly. I was at one station that honestly made me gag a little... I think the bench or maybe the dumbells had never been thoroughly cleaned with a bleach solution.

Ambitious Athletics is top notch, not only in the programming and the coaches, but also the gym as whole - the atmosphere, the equipment, the recovery room. It is the highlight of my day and I look forward to going every morning (and I am not a morning person!). Anyone looking for a killer workout regimen and an awesome community - this is THE place.

My favorite longtime gym in DC! I've been a member for several years and this year hit my 400…read moreclasses milestone -- figured now was a good time to finally leave a review. Fit360 is a great model of a community gym -- the staff is friendly, the owner is a local, and fellow gym goers are courteous. I am someone who benefits from classes to help me push myself and I especially love their lift classes, which are typically small (under 10 people) and mixed gender, with varying levels for each station based on your fitness and expertise. Jonathan and Nino both do a great job as instructors helping with form and technique. This year I also added in some personal training with Kwame and it has been fantastic so far. So glad this gym is part of my community.

I'm actually paying for a separate Nutritionist who I visit about every month. I started here about two months ago, and I've been much more committed this time around. It's even more motivational that the gym.is located literally across the street from my apartment. It's a decent gym and they have almost everything that I need, minus the abs machine. I do have the Gold membership and I think that it's a good fit for me since I rarely have ever participated in any type of gym class. They do offered the classes here, and I've seen a number of people leaving from a class. I appreciate that the gym is available for whenever I need it, and even more importantly that they're located so close to me.

For a gym charging a premium of $145 a month, my experience was a huge letdown. Day pass is $45…read more Steam room is out of service. I spent about five hours at the Yards location this week to thoroughly evaluate it before committing as I've been getting spammed in the mail, and I'm glad I did. The staff's attitude was consistently condescending, from the Senior Membership Advisor (Saad Siddiqui) upselling me, person trainers roaming around the facility, to the people at front desk. My main issue how the staff addressed my comment about the soft flooring in the free-weight area, which is completely unsuitable for barbell squats. When I brought this up, the staff condescendingly told me to just use the Smith machine or use the Olympic platform, completely dismissing a valid safety concern. There was a Titan Fitness safety squat bar (SSB) that I had no idea how much it weighed. I asked two person trainers (you'll see PT and their clients everywhere in the gym) how much the bar weighed. The PTs said they had no idea and left it at that. The front desk staff was equally apathetic. I've had better customer service at Planet Fitness for a tiny fraction of the cost. This place is motivated about locking you into their membership plan and signing you up to the many classes and services they offer. This place is not it and I highly recommend looking elsewhere in the DC area.

So challenging to awesome music! She also does a challenging sunset rooftop step aerobics. I wish they also had aqua zumba! The fitness studio is so hot, you immediately feel the difference in temperatures when you walk in and feel like you're hit with a sauna. Speaking of which the sauna is super popular, they really need to build out a bigger one as its too small.
