The boxing gym that I use to go to has been permanently closed due to the pandemic, so I have been on the hunt for boxing classes in NYC. Rumble has quickly become my regular gym now. Rumble is a 45-minute workout with a mix of boxing and weight/resistance training. If this is your first time, I recommend arriving early as each class begins with an introduction to the 6 boxing moves that will be used throughout the class. My top three favorite trainers are: Noah - One of the founding members and one of my favorite trainers. His workouts will kick you in the butt. Every time I take his class, I discover new muscles I never knew I had. He constantly adds in new moves to keep it interesting. You will never have the same workout with Noah. He is also such a funny character that will make you forget he is making you do sprawls/burpees. Erika - Another founding trainer and probably one of the hardest trainers! The next day I always wake up sore. Erika is super friendly and motivating! She definitely challenges you every workout and you will be amazed at how far you can go! I always feel stronger at the end of the workout. Kory - She is the Studio Manager in Noho. I highly recommend her for all beginners. She is engaging and has high energy. Her classes are very easy to follow but do not mistake that for being an easy workout. I always come out of her class super energized and ready to take on the rest of my day!

I was the biggest rumble fan but today was AWFUL. The studio itself was SUPER HUMID like something was wrong. The instructor only wanted to keep the boxing super basic (1,2) and jumping jacks only in between. Class was super disappointing. The showers are covered in mold and found a dirty thong in my shower. Disgusting. The hand soap and lotion were also empty. Worst experience and I'm super sad this was prob my 30th or something class

I've never tried any type of boxing workout before until Rumble, and I'm happy to report that THE HYPE IS REAL. I've heard about Rumble from my friends who reside in NYC and have seen celebrities attend classes through my trashy reality TV binges (I'm looking at you, Bravo and E!) and can finally understand why it's so popular! The class is only 45 minutes and split into two sections (bags and floor). You'll have to purchase wraps and rent gloves, unless you already own them. The instructor will demo and breakdown punches and floor exercises, and the combos and floor workouts are also displayed on the wall. The music is the best thing about the class since it's loud and hypes you out during your workout. You're always moving and it's fast paced so the class goes by quickly! After taking my first class here, the bar is set HIGH for any other boxing classes that I take in the future. I look forward to trying another class again the next time I'm in the city!

I'm kind of a regular at the Flatiron/Chelsea studio and was excited to try out the NoHo location. For starters, the women's locker room is much spacier and there seem to be more lockers in general. One of my biggest complaints about the Flatiron location is it's hell getting a locker in the AM because so many people go before work. That said, the new studio has great artwork and the studio layout, while a little wonky, works. It feels like there's more space between bags and benches but transitioning between the two areas is a little harder. It's the same great workout, music and trainers as the Flatiron studio.

I love Rumble! They definitely get what's up. I try to make it once a week, and it's my favorite work out class I take. I went through a year where I was into taking classes at "legit NYC boxing gyms" (you know who you are) and while those definitely have their time and place and feel more "authentic", I'm not training for the golden gloves. A clean shower/work out environment, cool instructors/people in the class, and loud music are preferable to me when I'm trying to squeeze workouts in between work/life all week. Difficulty level: Rumble is beginner friendly. You can go as hard as you want to go, but also it's dark if it's your first time back to the gym in a while. During the "floor" section you can choose how heavy you want your weights to be (I'm getting comfortable with 15s, goal is to get to 20s - doesn't sound like a lot but try it!) The water bags are an interesting concept, you don't have to wrap up your hands like you would hitting a normal heavy bag, no worries about tweaking your wrist on a hard left hook. Studio: both locations I've been to (Flatiron and Noho) are spotless with ample space to hang out before class. They have filtered water, plastic bags for your clothing, Dry Bar products in the showers, etc - what you would expect from a boutique fitness studio. The rental gloves also don't smell bad - more than I can say for other studios. As a bonus the artwork is sick - instagram worthy. Instructors: I've taken classes with Noah, Jaws and Brian. All the trainers are good, but Noah is the best. His playlist rocks, instruction on form is more specific and he walks through the class during each round. Jaws is a close second. I'm going to try a class with Erika next, I need to find a day she's on the schedule when I go (weekend). Locations: I prefer the Noho location because it's more convenient to my apartment and the locker room is bigger. I think the studio might be a little bigger at Flatiron, if that's important to you. Also, Rumble Juice - yes please. I tend to avoid preworkout supplements, but it gets me hyped up for class without a jittery feeling.

wraps, studio-provided gloves, and the best wall art as always

A fantastic location! I've only been to the Chelsea/Flatiron studio and love it there, and the great experience and workout carried through to this location as well! The studio is massive, and you have everything you could ever need as it's perfectly placed in the heart of NoHo. The layout makes a little more sense here as you have the waiting area and locker rooms downstairs and the studio/retail/check-in upstairs. I took a class with Joe and he was fantastic, just as all my instructors have been. As usual, they start off class with a walk-through of the 6 punches and you have the exercises projected up on the walls throughout the workout. The workout is incredible, and if you keep yourself moving throughout and hold yourself accountable to form/technique, you will get an incredible calorie burn and even better endorphin rush after! While I thought I would be sticking to my daily Barry's/Soul regimen, I've quickly realized how much I love punching it out (kind of scary?) on the bag and how quickly this workout has helped to tone up my arms and abs. Luckily enough, the class schedules line up so I can take a class here and then walk 50ft to either Barry's or Soul for classes there afterwards, so it's been easy enough to work everything in, which I love!

i love rumble it is a fun challenging workout. so far i have been to class with Dani and Tim. come at least 5 min early so you can catch the different punches 1,2,3 you will know what i mean once you take a class. Dani instructed in front of the class then encouraged us to move to different bags since we were in a small class and there was room. tim was fun but did a more intense workout tim stayed on me about making sure i am making contact with the bag. i had a lot of fun and i felt really accomplished after although i am at a beginning level of fitness. i will be back. there is also a nice locker room with lockers that are decorated with a collage. i loved the body and facial care available as well as tampons and razors. the staff works really hard on maintaining cleanliness one needs to buy the wraps but the gloves can be rented. it might be a good idea to buy your own. essentia water is also sold for $3 or you can bring your own. wearing the gloves on top of the wraps does take getting used to. they feel awkward but you will get through it. there is music in the locker rooms and studio. the sounds are motivating hip hop. you would think there was a live dj but isn't.

Abstract detail in Cellar. Brightened up my post-workout glow

Scam alert! I wish I…read moreread these reviews prior to signing up for the 6 week challenge. I was motivated and hopeful, especially due to prior positive crossfit experiences at other gyms and learned a big lesson about reading reviews first. To be clear: The 6 week challenge which is falsely advertised as free costs $632. If you lose 25 pounds they say you get your money back. Doing the math, this type of program endorses disordered exercise and eating. It's not healthy to lose that amount of weight in 6 weeks They exploit those that have unrealistic goals, financially. Personally, I am writing because I was supposed to start the 6 week challenge right before COVID and they continued to bill be throughout the gym closures. I explained that I would be willing to transfer the money I already paid into a regular membership following COVID and they refused. I called my credit card company since it is illegal to charge for a gym that is closed due to COVID. The credit card company advised to file a claim. They responded by calling collections. I am confident that the credit card company will handle this for me, but am sickened by these practices overall. Mostly, I am genuinely worried about the mental health of potential consumers in the future. The actual classes are extremely variable since the staff are not well trained. The staff themselves told me that they are not treated properly and that there are is little, inconsistent communication with management. It shows in the classes, and the workouts are not as effective as other crossfit programs I have done as a result.

Joe ( who refused to provide his last name and direct number) is the most horrible and greedy person I ever encounter. I take he is one of the owners. After the pandemic broke, I reached out to one of the coaches and asked for my membership to be cancelled, the reason being: no longer living in the city and financial hardships. I got an "ok" text message. Months later, I get a charge on my credit card. I was connected to Joe, who wanted to charge me for another month as a cancelation fee, which clearly is not part of the contract, and refused to give me credit for the month charged. After many back and forth emails, he finally understood and agreed a proper notice was given and no extra charges were to be charged to my account. I have on an email with his own words agreeing to this. They stole my money, he is a thief. I had to call my credit company to dispute the charge. They settled to give me a refund, which I was happy. But later, they send me to collections???? For something he agreed and settled?? Talk about ethics. Stay away from this gym, there are far better gyms with better customer service and honesty than WillyB. They are scammers, and as much as I hate to say this: they deserve to close for their terrible customer service ethics.

Our instructor, Aaron, was the founder and a cool positive instructor. I loved that he took note of our names to give us shoutouts. I do wish there was slightly more personal attention or feedback throughout the class because he would constantly compliment everyone despite seeing me over there causing a ruckus. Adding personal training sessions with Charlie has really enhanced my body and mind. He couples exercises together really well for maximum effectiveness and to meet your own goals. Nimble is a nice gym. Everyone is doing some sort of one on one work out class and sharing the space comfortably. I have been there at many hours of the day and it is never too crowded. The other trainers and staff are very friendly.

I've been working out with Daniel and Keith for over 25 years and have been recommending Nimble Fitness to my friends since it first opened. I highly recommend Nimble to anyone - at any level of fitness - who is looking for an expert trainer in a comfortable and easy-going environment.
