Who doesn't love line dancing? Add an experienced instructor then the fun is multiplied. This night I was an observer but if I lived in Memphis I am quite sure it would be on my Thursday night to do list. The staff is fun. The patrons are so focused on getting every step just right. They have a full bar and a weekend Latino based menu. Salsa dancing Thanks for the Hospitality! read more

Called ahead to get information on the classes the guy with the Spanish accent was very rude then we arrived at 5 when they said they would be opened and the doors were locked and lights off. Unfortunately won't give this place another attempt. That first introduction was a lasting one read more

This spot is cool. Staff is very nice. Only complaint is that the drinks are extremely weak. read more

If you're wondering why I'm doing a food review on a dance spot, you have COVID to thank. Located on Main St., RR has both indoor and and outdoor seating available. In the evenings you can even dance on the sidewalks, or inside. But let's get to the real reason I'm here: THIS $8 TACO FLIGHT. I had it Saturday afternoon and I'm still thinking about all three tacos on Wednesday night. Each taco is different, see my photos for a look at the descriptions. Everything on the menu sounds fabulous, and I'm certain you can't go wrong with whatever you order. While you're waiting on your food, the plantains and cilantro lime sauce will make you forget all of your worries. The mixed drinks are great; that Mayan Rose will sneak up on your later. read more

Service is always great! Love the atmosphere! I started going to this place a few years ago, stopped going due to moving away but once I was able to move back and go back to Rumba Room the place was still great! The times I've been there I have never witness any arguments or fights like in other places. The music is always good, employees and customers are always friendly. The food is good and the drinks are good as well. read more

So, my friends and I went for a day party and had a blast! For it to be located down town and for the crowd to be pretty big that day, it was not hard to find parking. It was also spacious. The DJ was off the chain that day. He played a good mix of old and new school jam! Everyone was on the dance floor having a great time. Just when you thought you were headed to you seat...BAM! Another jam comes on! I did not get drink or food that day, but the people with me talked about good they were. I would definitely visit again! read more

This place is so fun! I did not know what to really expect coming to this place. Is it like ballroom classes or like a bar? Well this place is like a Hispanic honk tonk. I love it! So, I came in early because I wanted to take free bachata lessons. I walked in and didn't have to pay a cover, but I also arrived early (9ish). Then I got a mojito from the bar, and the mojito is around averagely priced ($8). The mojito was so good tho. The bartenders are obviously trained. I was mislead tho when I was reading about the events online and on Saturdays it says "first shot on the house free for men. Women are free all night." Now I thought that meant that women get free drinks all night, but that's not the case. We just get free cover all night, which I think every bar should do all the time. More ladies= more men buying drinks. Anyways, I joined the bachata lessons and the instructor was so good. He taught us the steps with everyone by oneself, and then he paired everyone up and the women rotated after learning an extra step. The atmosphere there is so relaxing because everyone dances with everyone, and it's not nerve wrecking to ask someone to dance or to dance with someone random. Lastly, this place could use a nice little renovation, because the dance floor does not match the bar. The bar uses bright lights and looks new, but the dance floor area looks old and used with its tables and random elevated surfaces that have couches on top, but no way to get up there. Anyways, this place is so fun and I highly recommend. read more

Total rumba in your mouth, good flavors that keep your taste buds dancing for more! You wanna rumba, go n eat

Memphis is fortunate to have, in my opinion, one of the best salsa clubs in the nation (and I've been to more of them than most). I'd love to know the story of how it came to be, but I stop by whenever I pass through town. Like all salsa clubs, it can be hit-or-miss as to the dancing on any particular night, but I've had a few good ones here. Check their website/FB page to find out what nights are happening, but there's usually something on Friday and Saturday nights. read more

Rumba Room - Dance Clubs Near Me - Memphis, Tennessee

Really fun experience and good for basically all ages before ~10:30 when it's free for all.

I so want to learn to salsa dance! Rumba Room is the only salsa club in Memphis that I know of, and Latin culture is their specialty. I dropped in for some food and dined on the Baja shrimp tacos- yum! Shrimp and bacon wrapped in a flour tortilla with melted cheese. I don't believe I've ever had bacon on a taco, but in my opinion, bacon makes everything better. It was so fun to watch the live salsa bands, and see experts at work. The crowd can move! I admit, I made a feeble attempt. Maybe I'll take some of the salsa lessons provided by Rumba Room so that next time, I'll be ready. read more

Hello, my name is Jolynna and I'm a Salsa addict. No, not the stuff you eat with chips, but Salsa DANCING!! I love it. I love it. I LOVE it! And to do it, THE place to go in Memphis is Rumba Room. Located in the artsy and oh-so-cool South Main District downtown, this club is a hidden gem that you definitely want to check out, even if you have never salsa danced in your life. The vibe is so fun and so positive and the crowd really diverse. No matter your age, ethnicity or background, you will fit right in and feel very welcome here. Plus they make a mean mojito. Now, if you're already into Latin dancing, you know about this place, but if you don't, then you can take a lesson each Saturday night at 9:30 for free. (Saturday night is Latin night). It's fun and there are usually a lot of people taking the class, so you will feel comfortable and have more fun than you can imagine. And most likely you will do what I did the first time I went: Become an addict. But don't worry... You can get your fix each weekend like I do. Vamos a bailar! read more

Everyone sure knows how to dance in here. Made me nervous to even try since everyone looked like professionals here. But fear not because everyone is so nice & will keep trying to ask you to dance with them. Even teach you. I think some are paid to do that, which is nice for the people who came solo w/ no partners. Ladies no worries, this is not the kind of place you'll get annoyed w/ people hitting on you. People seriously just want to dance. All the staff willing to help you learn to dance were all amazing & so fun to watch. Only gripe here was the bouncer or whoever the person in the front was. He was so rude to some of my friends & literally was demanding to pay up that $10 entrance fee that night. They were only asking if they had a night where ladies were free to get in, & he was just pushy & straight up rude. We almost didn't go in because of him. Thank goodness we didn't let that one bummer get to us because we would've missed out on some fun times. On another plus side, the appetizers my girlfriends & I got to taste were good. Good food & good times. Great place to learn to salsa. If your not into salsa then I suggest you go elsewhere since this is mostly all they do here. read more

Great place for salsa dancing on Friday and Saturday nights. It's normal dancing on 2, and you'll find a range of dancers from beginner to competitors. The crowd is a great mix, the music is good, and there is plenty of room on the dance floor. They play ~70% salsa, 20% meringue, 8% cumbia, 2% cha-cha as far as I could tell. There are also a lot of seats and areas to socialize in as well. read more

I came here for one of their events and had a great time. I didn't get any food here but I might next time. My friend noted that their drinks were pretty watered down. This place does not have any kind of minimum purchasing for when you see their shows, which I now can say I greatly appreciate. I would come back here for another event if one I was interested in came up. I wouldn't mind coming here to dance, too, if I decided I wanted to dance. I thought there was another Rumba Room elsewhere or at least another place that does Latino dancing. But I'm not too into that kind of thing so I will have to wait until the next event comes around that I want to see. read more

It was a well decor room. Love the lights, dance floor maybe add a pool instead of couches on top by the stage. Not a fan of the Dj on Friday. The DJ was creating his own bachata music which didn't sound right. Was not impressed with the mint mojito. Too much mint, i think they put a whole tree in my one drink and a whole lime. I asked to get a new one and the bartender said that's how they make it but she was willing to make me a new one. Overall, if you came from places with real Latin night clubs, you would be disappointed with this one. Still not sure what the DJ was playing. read more

Was invited to return with friends 6 months after my review. Date visited Friday 10/22/10. MUCH IMPROVED! It was a real Salsa night. They did great. First it was a swing lesson at 7pm. Then there was the salsa lesson at about 9:30. Then the dance floor opened at about 9:50-10:00 pm. The music was about 1/2 dj and 1/2 live latin band. Food was decent. Tacos were very good. Four stars. I have to dock one star because of the climate. It was ice cold AC or very hot (no A/C). read more

Went out to this venue for a special concert of Karen Brown. She provided an awesome show down to the DJ. I love an intimate venue for concerts so this definitely fit the bill. The service was pretty good given the limited number of servers and no complaints on the drinks. The opening DJ was really good for getting the crowd ready for a great show and the main act did not disappoint. I would definitely prefer a table next time but this is a pretty cool place to catch a show. read more

Rumba Room - A friends farewell at Rumba Room. They even reserved us a table! - Dance Clubs Near Me - Memphis, Tennessee

OMG!!!!! My mouth is mad at me because I had to leave the restaurant. The food is well-loved before you eat it therefore, every bite will be the best taste you ever had. All original tastes. All the sauces are homemade and will leave you wanting more! I'M DEFINITELY COMING BACK!! read more

MY FAVORITE SALSA CLUB EVER!!!!! HANDS DOWN!!!!!!!!! My first trip to the Rumba Room was actually on a Thursday (Recess-Is-On) Night, and Marsha Ambrosius was doing a set. OMG her voice is even more magnificent in person than on cd, if you know anything about Marsha Ambrosius you know even on cd she is beyond talented. Nevertheless, on that night I was impressed by the decor, the drinks, the ambience. SN: The bathrooms were the cleanest that I've ever used in a club...Ever!!! Salsa Night Friday/Saturdays Ladies get in free until 10pm. And if your late it a $10 cover (well worth it). They also offer free Salsa lesson before the dancing gets started! I've had the Southwestern Rolls they are always good, and just a lil spicy! And the tangy wings, I was mad hungry so they hit the spot!! The bar food is pretty cheap, but good! The drinks are very very nice!! The have my all-time favorite, the Walk-Me Down (Sweet Jesus)! Next behind that is their drink called "The Leg Spreader" although I felt a lil cheeky when I was ordering this drink, I definitely wasn't sorry that I did!!! From what I remember it had coconut rum in it and some other stuff, but it was really good!!! But I've had their Pineapple Mojito very very tasty, awesomely made!! The Rum Runner it's ok, not my fav, but if you don't like really sweet drinks you might like it! Ok now for the salsa!!! They play it all depending on the dj you get a nice mix the whole time, or a few to many (for my liking) non-Bachata slow songs. But all in all you are guaranteed to have fun! This is one of those chill clubs that you'll see older ( i mean like 60) coming to salsa. Now don't get me wrong the club is full of mostly 21-30s but I'm just saying how many clubs do you know that you would go to and wouldn't mind your parents being there...vice versa. I love the Rumba Room because on Salsa Night people come there to dance, not to hold up the wall as you may see in many other clubs. If your inexperienced, this is definitely the place to gain it! Also I love coming here because when you keep coming it's like a family reunion when you come back. Just look around and see people hugging and catching up even though they may have only been away from each other for a 2 weeks. Good food, Awesome Drinks, Intimate Ambience, Ample Dance Floor, Great People, Best Club in my book. Tip: Don't get discouraged and leave early if you don't know how to salsa (well). Believe me, there are always others in the same boat, and a few old heads who don't mind showing you the ropes!! SN: So good that I don't mind the60-90minute drive from North Mississippi to downtown Memphis!!!! And that's saying a lot!! read more

I love this place. The salsa instructor is really good. Im really nervous about dancing with people i dont know, but i felt super comfortable dancing with him. I think its because he's a really great teacher, and really easy to follow. The food is not bad, and the drinks are good. Its lady night on friday nights, so no cover charge. You can take swing lessons and salsa lessons on fridays. I have not yet been there early enough for the swing lessons, but would love to. So if your looking for a nice place to come and dance and have a drink, this would be my first pick. read more

I went to this establishment to hear a local band that I enjoy and was very impressed with the entire experience. This wasn't the night for salsa dancing, but for listening to a band on a Wednesday night it was superb. The place was very clean with an attentive bar staff and all staff, overall, made me feel very welcome. Kirby M. was an exceptional hostess and I could tell from the way she dealt with the band that she was very good at what she does. I will definitely look for opportunities to visit again! read more

We recently moved to the Memphis area. Visited Rumba Room, this past Friday for some Latin Food. They did not have everything available from their menu, I ended up ordering something different. A dish I did not want. The food was NOT so Latin!. We had to paid $10:00 to get in besides our food's bill. DJ was overlapping songs, while people dancing salsa. Music was good, but kind of old. We left because it was too hot. My girlfriend and I went for dinner at Los Compadres the next day. And their food is a lot much delicious and they have also a DJ playing more modern Latin Music. It's free to get in and on top that they have a parking lot available. I've experienced better!. read more

This have got to be my favorite clubs in Memphis. A place where you can dance for real not just having a bunch of people jumping around and grinding on each other like regular dance clubs. They even offer free salsa lessons before dance hour starts. The lessons help me blend in a little bit better with the crowds. Haha nice environment. Good drinks. Good food. Nice place to meet new faces. read more

I have been Latin dancing in Memphis since 2005. Out of all the venues that have come and gone, it is the first official Latin dance club in Memphis that offers a quality hardwood floor and upscale atmosphere for almost 7 years now. The staff is professional and attentive to their customers, and at least one owner is present during business hours which shows they are sincerely invested in their customer's experience. This establishment attracts a crowd of all ages, professions, and cultures of people interested in having a great night of dancing, drinks, music, and entertainment among excellent company. They offer a quality menu of reasonably priced food items from chicken wings to quesadillas to munch on between songs. They have an extensive drink menu including signature drinks like the Rumba Shooter, refreshing Mojitos made with fresh limes and mint leaves, and your typical favorite mixed or single liquor drinks. They have a great rotation of outstanding local and guest DJs spinning new and classic salsa, merengue, bachata, cha-cha, cumbia, and reggaeton hits. They frequently hold special events such as live music performed by Latin bands from around the mid-south, dance contests, and special performances by local and international dance companies and individual performers. Because of the modern and upscale appearance of the venue, the Rumba Room holds other quality events throughout the week such as an open mic night called "The Word" where the furniture is rearranged into a more intimate lounge type of environment, and you can enjoy local musician and spoken word performances, including their live house band. The Rumba Room is home to swing dancers of Red Hot Lindy Hop and occasional performances by live swing bands, local belly dance group performances, and R&B/ Gospel singer Karen Brown's concerts. You can find out more information by looking up their facebook page. read more
