Pivoting during a pandemic they have lunch specials and dinner. Wow, delicious! I've never been to the Rumba Room to dance, but the food is delicious.

If you're wondering why I'm doing a food review on a dance spot, you have COVID to thank. Located on Main St., RR has both indoor and and outdoor seating available. In the evenings you can even dance on the sidewalks, or inside. But let's get to the real reason I'm here: THIS $8 TACO FLIGHT. I had it Saturday afternoon and I'm still thinking about all three tacos on Wednesday night. Each taco is different, see my photos for a look at the descriptions. Everything on the menu sounds fabulous, and I'm certain you can't go wrong with whatever you order. While you're waiting on your food, the plantains and cilantro lime sauce will make you forget all of your worries. The mixed drinks are great; that Mayan Rose will sneak up on your later.

So, my friends and I went for a day party and had a blast! For it to be located down town and for the crowd to be pretty big that day, it was not hard to find parking. It was also spacious. The DJ was off the chain that day. He played a good mix of old and new school jam! Everyone was on the dance floor having a great time. Just when you thought you were headed to you seat...BAM! Another jam comes on! I did not get drink or food that day, but the people with me talked about good they were. I would definitely visit again!

This place is so fun! I did not know what to really expect coming to this place. Is it like ballroom classes or like a bar? Well this place is like a Hispanic honk tonk. I love it! So, I came in early because I wanted to take free bachata lessons. I walked in and didn't have to pay a cover, but I also arrived early (9ish). Then I got a mojito from the bar, and the mojito is around averagely priced ($8). The mojito was so good tho. The bartenders are obviously trained. I was mislead tho when I was reading about the events online and on Saturdays it says "first shot on the house free for men. Women are free all night." Now I thought that meant that women get free drinks all night, but that's not the case. We just get free cover all night, which I think every bar should do all the time. More ladies= more men buying drinks. Anyways, I joined the bachata lessons and the instructor was so good. He taught us the steps with everyone by oneself, and then he paired everyone up and the women rotated after learning an extra step. The atmosphere there is so relaxing because everyone dances with everyone, and it's not nerve wrecking to ask someone to dance or to dance with someone random. Lastly, this place could use a nice little renovation, because the dance floor does not match the bar. The bar uses bright lights and looks new, but the dance floor area looks old and used with its tables and random elevated surfaces that have couches on top, but no way to get up there. Anyways, this place is so fun and I highly recommend.

The lamb sliders remain my go-to. They're consistently juicy, flavorful, and cooked perfectly every time. Paired with the crispy fries, it's a meal that never disappoints. This visit, I ordered a Sidecar, but the bartender didn't have every ingredient needed for the traditional recipe. Instead of saying no, they created their own twist--and it was absolutely delicious. Sometimes improvisation pays off, and this cocktail was proof. The salmon was also excellent. I ordered it prepared the original way instead of the new menu version that includes Brussels sprouts, and it was exactly what I was craving. One of the highlights of the visit was an unexpected surprise from our waiter, who brought us a sample of their avocado ice cream. I wasn't sure what to expect, but it was creamy, smooth, and surprisingly delicious. It was a thoughtful gesture that added to an already great dining experience. The only disappointment? They no longer offer the flight sampler. I was genuinely sad to see it gone because it was one of my favorite ways to experience several menu items in one visit. Overall, Babalu continues to deliver excellent food, attentive service, and outstanding drinks. Even with the flight no longer available, it's still one of my top recommendations in Memphis. 5/5 Stars - Consistent quality, excellent hospitality, and a place I'll gladly keep returning to.

Met with great customer & a small line (3 ppl max). The cashier was making drinks and taking orders while being prompt and charismatic. The wait staff on point as well. Cleaned our table off with quickness so we could sit outside. I ordered Esquites, Dama with Rous, Sandwich Venezolano (not pictured) with a Juan Famous margarita & a mangorita. My bf enjoyed his chicken sandwich and gave it a 8.5/10. Next time will try the pulled pork one. The Dama is super delicious. It's like a lighter version of beef stew in my opinion. The fresh cilantro has a refreshing taste to the dish - 10/10. The Esquites was oddly enjoyable. The tajin made it a little tart but it's basically just as the cream corn I grew up eating - 8/10. Now the star of the show is them RITAS. 20oz of pure goodness. If you come on certain days - the Juan marg is only 3.95 with your meal. That's a good steal in my book. We were able to get a regular and a mango marg. The mango was super juicy and packed with flavor. I dropped a couple pieces into my drink to make it fruiter and it works. Kinda strong drinks but no one is going to that as a compliant from me lol. Please give this place a try. It's located in crosstown and they help support international cuisine. #MemphisEats

I ordered two papusas, an asada taco and a chorizo taco (total was $9.50). The food arrived rather quickly and I waited in a storefront that they converted into a dining room of sorts. Oh, I think it bears mentioning that the food truck is in a converted Winnebago (it just adds to the "cool" factor). I have had better papusas, but these were solid.
