i was looking for auto repair estimates this week and i spoke to three local places, one called back with an estimate in a few minutes, one texted me a link for a complete quote with variables and then when i called rum river who i have used several times in the past i was ridiculed and spoken down to like i was an idiot because there is no way to know what the cost would be until they got the car in and looked at it. well, that is why i asked for an ESTIMATE... for specific repairs ......they know what they will charge for specific repairs for the vehicle in question.....when i get treated this way, i will NEVER use them again. The folks at Rum River auto did a great job at being clear in their communications and making sure they checked in with me before doing any repairs. They also saved me some money as they told me I didn't need a repair that another automotive shop tried to sell me a while back. They were professional and very courteous, as well! I had to leave my vehicle for the day, but they had a free courtesy car for me to use so I did not have to arrange a ride! They also did a few extra things for free like rotate my tires and such which was very helpful. When I left, I also had a nice gift bag full of various coupons and deals and one free car wash! I am extremely happy and impressed with Rum River Automotive. I was warmly greeted by Kelly to get my Isuzu Rodeo in for repair. There was some extensive work required. I was informed prior to the work being done to get my authorization which I did authorize. The work was done in an efficient amount of time. Some parts were needed to be ordered and due to the make of my vehicle the parts are not a standard item, but they were able to locate all that was needed to repair my vehicle. Troy let me know all that was required and when it was time for me to pay, Kelly went over each item that was repaired and or replaced on my vehicle. With respect to the cost, it was very reasonable. I was extremely happy about how fast the time it took from when I brought my vehicle in to the time I picked it up. My vehicle runs much better now. Actually, it runs better than it ever has. I really like their Rum River Automotive app which keeps me up to date on all my service records at the shop as well as helping me keep track of services I will need in the future A.k.a. oil changes, tire rotation, etc. Would I recommend Rum River Automotive? I am very disappointed with the service I received from Rum River Automotive. I brought our truck in for it needed a new transmission. (This was warranty work through a third party warranty service.) Transmission was replaced and when we picked it up it started acting up only 30 minutes after leaving the shop. I immediately called the shop and told them it was not working right. The issue was not occurring all the time so we were told to bring it in when it was occurring. So we did, and of course the issue did not reoccur for them for the 2 days they had it. So when they called me to pick it up I was told that there was a diagnosis fee of over $130 for us to pick it up and we would have to pay this fee out of pocket each and every time we bring it in until they can get the issue to occur for them. I was never told that I would have to pay a diagnosis fee for this and felt this was horrible on their end for the issues started occurring 30 mins after we picked it up from them!!! The only labor they did to the truck was their mistake in the beginning for the shifting linkage was off from when they installed the transmission. So in short they drove the truck 2 times and the issue did not reoccur for them and charged us over $130 and would continue to charge us until the issue occurs for them. Appalled by this, I called around to multiple places after finding this out and not one told me that they would charge a fee for them to drive it around and try to get the issue to reoccur. I was very upset by this and will not EVER give my business to Rum River Auto again. In my calling around inquiring about how other shops operate or handle these types of issues, another shop in town, that DID NOT even do the initial work on our truck, offered to help diagnose the issue at no cost out of our pocket. If we bring it to them when it is acting up for us they will drive it around for without charging us anything. I understand that there are wages that need to be paid and it is covered by the labor costs, the diagnosis fee and what not, but when you have issues with something 30 mins after leaving and it is not an issue that is constant, I feel that Rum River Auto should stand behind their work and help us try to figure out what is wrong without charging us each time. read more

I am disgusted by this business. My daughter and I brought her car in to get an alignment. We had just had new tires installed and also a new tie rod. The service technician claimed he was unable to do the alignment because the tie rod was the wrong one (it was just not he updated version, but it was new and there was NOTHING wrong with it). He told me that the car needed a new front passenger wheel bearing and ball joint - that the wheel bearing was so bad that the tire was actually wobbling. He also said the car needed new spark plugs and wires (which happen to have just been replaced in the car). They gave us a $1,000+ recommended quote for the repairs they said needed to be done. My husband went to install the new wheel bearing, and to our surprise there was absolutely nothing wrong with the wheel bearing that was in the car (there was zero wobble to the wheel bearing). The ball joint also was in perfect condition. The tie rod that they claimed had been installed incorrectly was actually just not the updated version of the tie rod for that car, however there was absolutely nothing wrong with how it was installed. In addition, the technician neglected to put back in the cotter pin that is emergency backup if something happens with the tie rod. I feel completely targeted by this company because I was a female going in for vehicle work. They assumed I was a clueless and vulnerable women and tried to take advantage of me. I would NEVER recommend this company to anyone. ZERO STARS!!! read more

Yuck! We took our Caravan here because the air conditioning was not cold. The owner said it would be $1200 to fix it. the owner kinda gave me the creeps so my husband took it to another shop for a second opinion and he fixed a sensor for $80 dollars and now it is cold.
