Rulli Brothers is a true Youngstown gem. Their meat department always has amazing deals--whether it's steaks, chicken, or sausage. I've made some of my best meals thanks to their weekly specials. Their produce section is just as impressive. Crisp veggies, ripe fruit, and prices that make it easy to stock up without breaking the bank. I like a lot of their meat and international selection but their produce is frustrating and they create a lot of waste. A lot of their fruit and veggies go bad fast and too many items are unnecessarily wrapped. I don't see the point in having so many items on their own styrofoam plate and covered in plastic. In 2025 all business and people should be more conscientious about waste reduction. Paper bags would be nice as well, they only have plastic I mostly go for meats and international, they have a lot of items on the shelves you can't get too many places. Good cookies at the front and their coffee is nice as well. read more

My wife and I love shopping at Rulli Brothers market...... Their meat dept is basically an old style butcher shop and their deli meat & cheese area is fantastic! They always have a new lunch meat selection that I have never seen at any other stores. Their customer service is 2nd to none. They always have great weekly specials also. My only complaint is that we have to drive from Niles..... please put a store in Trumbull County!! But I must add it is worth the drive for us every time. read more

Growing up in Youngstown I learned first hand what a true Italian grocery store was like because whenever we wanted real Italian food we would go to Rulli Bros. Unfortunately times have changed and so has Rulli Bros., at least the Austintown store. I don't know about the original store (I am hoping it is the same as I remember). The store in Austintown is more like a Kroger with a bit more Italian offerings. I couldn't wait to get out of there when they told me their Pepperonl was Hillshire Farms. There is no real savings here folks.The fruits expire within 24 hours and you'll be throwing them out.I bought 24 clams and they where all dead.Those clams stunk to high haven & I had to throw them out. Next the deli seems to be run by a few women that need psychiatric treatments.They will seriously want to challenge your request if you ask anything of them.Have a look at Rulli's meat slicers they are a mess with old shavings, so your bound to get a bunch of extra garbage with your order. Today they saved me over $150 by pissing me at the Deli. read more

To whom it may concern. I'm sitting in the parking lot of your Boardman store instead of shopping in your store. I purchased Artisan lettuce (2) $2.99 each on Tuesday November 26th. I had never purchase this brand but your lettuce case was depleted. While prepping for My 28 family and friends on Thanksgiving morning, I noticed a small worm in the one package. So not to ruin our dinner, I deleted the salad from the menu. While in Boardman on business today, I stopped by not thinking this was common to alert your store management team and return the unopened lettuce. I was told that I was out of luck to get my $2.99 back. Not even asking compensation for the wormy pack of lettuce since I was past the three day deadline. In closing, obviously your manager can not make a judgment call for refunding a whopping $2.99. So I am not shopping in your store today rather I am going to a competitor. Nor will I be shopping in your store tomorrow or next week. I hope this ridiculousness gets passed upwards to the owners. I will be posting this same review on other platforms. read more

This is a great local grocery store. They have a great selection of produce and are known for their deli and butcher. Everythhing always seems very fresh and tastes great. It can get very busy at times and the checkout lines can be outrageous, but they open as many as they can and the staff works hard to keep everyone moving. read more

I've been shopping here for a while now without issue. There's a few things to keep in mind when there, the deli section is cheap but then you're getting what you pay for. Cheap meat for a cheap price. Same goes for their Meat Counter. Chicken breast's are usually a safe bet, hamburger is 70/30 but it's also incredibly inexpensive. I wouldn't waste my money on any of the roasts because they're usually so full of fat content they're not worth it. The Steaks I've bought from there have been delicious. The produce section can be hit or miss. Sometimes fully stocked, other times like the Sahara desert. But they're always reasonably priced. Milk is average, coffee creamer is quite expensive, as is butter and other necessities. If you shop smart, you can save quite a lot by shopping here and I have until recently. In my before retired life I was a chef for nearly thirty years, I've run kitchens large and small, corporate to small business. Long story short, I know my meats and veges. Three weeks ago I brought home chicken breasts (5#) to separate into two meals. As I separated, I cut off any remaining fat and put into freezer bags. This chicken was on the verge of spoilage. I'm talking by the end of the day bad. It had just begun to 'stick'. Not good. In that same shopping experience, I'd bought pork and left it in the fridge for cooking the next day. Next day arrives, it's spoiled. Stinks terribly! Now, I think it's just a fluke and buy more pork the following week. I bought it on Friday for Saturday morning. You can already guess what I woke up to in my fridge that morning. A big stinky surprise! That's it! No more! You're not saving money if you constantly have to drive back to the store and return meat..plus it's just plain gross! read more

Great sale prices on meats and other things, but there is usually a limit on the quantity that you can buy for a lot of sale items.Homemade sausage and kielbasa. Kielbasa is pretty lean. Hot food items made in the store are very good. Large selection of deli meat and cheese. Lots of Italian specialty products. read more

My yearly trek to Youngstown, from Massachusetts, to visit my best friend and family always allows for a trip to Rulli's Brothers on Kirk Rd. What do I always get? Ham salad. It's the best I've ever had. I have tried many, but nothing had ever come close to it. Besides fresh produce and meats, and always very friendly staff, this store goes above and beyond. Today was no different. Apparently the deli was out of my beloved Ham salad, and had no plans on making any until later on this evening. I pleaded my case that I come once a year for this delicious delightful concoction of ham, relish and love. Well, the workers asked if the salad could be made, and they said YES!!!! My friend and I hung around, and in 30 glorious minutes, I was walking away with a LARGE container of my beloved Ham salad. Now, I'm relaxing, enjoying a full belly of Ham salad from Rulli's. I Wanted to thank the deli staff for making at least one customer very happy. Even if I come once a year. Thanks for making me feel special. And I'll be seeing you next year. read more

Only my second time there and I went with a male family member. They had meat on sale and there was a limit and we were both buying it. He put it in my buggy and when we got to the register we separated our stuff, he paid for his stuff and when she was checking me out she said your only allowed 5lbs, I said that is 5lbs. She looked at him and said only 5lbs per household. He then told her how we were related and she then started slamming down the rest of my groceries as she scanned them and punched on her keys hard and threw my stuff down the belt. After the transaction I said you need to check your attitude, she screamed at me that I needed to check mine. I called and left a message with my contact info for the store manager, no one even called me back! NEVER will go back!!!! read more

The Austintown location always smells like low tide by the pier. The food is cheap, but usually goes bad in a few days. Old ladies will attempt to run you over for cheap ground beef. The ground beef is probably 50% fat, if you plan on grilling with it, wear a welders hood so you can keep your eye brows. read more

Usually like this place until they had chicken wings on sale for a buck fifty a pound, went there to pick up a few pounds, waited in line at the butcher counter, ask for wings, and they said they were out and would not issue a rain check on there meat. So all I can think is they baited people with a great price to get them into the store to buy other things while there. If you put something on sale you better have it or issue a rain check. read more

My first trip here. Not sure if they are remodeling or what but fruit section was nearly empty. What little fruit there was over ripe. Their meat/deli section about 1/3 size of South Ave store. I did get 1 great cereal bargain but otherwise quite disappointed. read more

This store is excellent to buy fresh meats and produce. There really are no other local stores to compare it to.

I've been in the store a few times, and always smells like a slaughterhouse (not just the meat area). When the do have specials on meats, they are cheap...but there will be a 10-15 min line. My father and I waited in line and then was told that you can only get one special per ticket, and I could grab another ticket if I like. What a joke, must be a store managed by morons. At least stand by your word and don't be an unnecessary annoyance for people. I will never return. read more

For the love of all that is holy, please do something about the ventilation. It smells like a slaughterhouse in there. I've actually had to leave before I finished shopping bc the smell made me so nauseous. I'm not exaggerating. When I do go in, I shop only the produce & get out as quickly as possible. The Boardman location is great. Austintown is just disgusting. I wish zero stars was an option!!!! Shopping today at the Austintown store. First off I never buy meat from this store because of the poor quality, but they had frozen lobster tails on sale for Mothers Day so I figured frozen seafood would be safe. I get to the counter there is a huge line so I take a ticket but ask one of the guys behind the counter if they have any left. I get a typical teenager response I don't knowSo I spot another guy coming out from the back he informs me that they do have them. Finally my turn, I request my lobster tails the same guy who tells me earlier that they have them goes to the back comes out and says sorry we don't have any!!!!! Really?!! The service here sucks beyond all reason. I get to the checkout there is a guy bagging for the cashier except I had to bag my own and put them in the cart, because this nagger is to busy flirting with the cashier and drawing nonsense pictures for her!!!!! Again I mainly shop her for the produce because it's close to home, but I don't think they deserve the business!!! One of the best places in the area to buy meat, produce and deli foods. Try the anti pasto salad. It's to die for. I'm not Italian (yes, there are two to three of us in the area) however, I like good food and you can't get stuff like this at Giant Eagle. read more
