The rich history of the library was captivating, and the stunning architecture of the buildings was not to miss. Natasha, our tour guide, was an absolute gem! She guided us through the majestic halls and took us behind the scenes, explaining the lavish history along the way, always with a warm smile. Her enthusiasm for the library was palpable, and her extensive knowledge made the tour even more fascinating. One of the highlights was seeing the Duke Humfrey's library. Such a beautiful and historic building with crests of the University of Oxford covering the ceiling, and Kings, Queens, and Bishops along the aisles. The Radcliffe Camera and The Divinity Schools were not to miss as well. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Oxford.

Inside i am always suprised as to just how quiet it is. But due to its vast size im sure any sounds just dissipate. Some of the lighting if i remember correctly is very orangy, weird becasue it doesnt actually affect your reading. They also offer computers which you can use for a small aount of money. They also offer rental of some cd's and dvd's too which is a great addtion. If your into books or need to do research this is the place for you!

A lot has changed about the place since then but it's still essentially the same. They have the usual things you'd expect of a library - childrens section, reading chairs etc. New additions to the library include Internet access, the 1881 National Census, photo scanning, word processing, e-mail and colour printing which are all available free of charge. There is a small car park to the rear. It's a lovely little local library which is worth a visit.

In addition the staff are polite and helpfull is you need any assistance. The library has very good opening hours, staying open til 19.00 most week days. Only real negative is the internet is £3.00 an hour to use within the library which is not really competitive with other internet cafes locally.

This place has definitely gone down hill! Or maybe I have just got older…read more.. I practically lived in here when I did my degree 02 - 05. Am now doing an Open University course, an am able to use the facilities of the library. The facilities are still the same, and they have an extensive range of books, but they could do with more people on "patrol". It was definitely quieter in my day! Wanting a bit of quiet space for some study, I went to the "quiet area, single study only". Most people were hanging round in groups chatting. Heard some very loud conversations from the other end of the room about what people had been up to the night before. When I was there before, there were a lot of staff that would have had words for people being that noisy, but nothing happened. I am but one person, I was not about to challenge groups of 6 + gobby students! Plus, it was freezing! Yes I know it is cold at the moment, but i had my snowboarding base layers on under my jeans, 2 jumpers and a hoody, but I still had to keep my coat on in there it was that cold. Did my studying today in the pub as it was quieter than the library!
