She adores dancing and always looks forward to her lessons. The teachers are always friendly, warm and welcoming - it feels like a little family. It does get busy in the changing rooms, but there's always plenty of space. Their prices are comparative with other dance schools in the area. The convenient location on the high street, just above Iceland, is great for parents - there's just enough time to do a bit of shopping before the end of the class. Ballet is far from the only class on offer - they also teach tap, jazz and modern to children and adults of all ages. Many of the pupils perform in local shows and festivals, although I am yet to have any experience of these as my own little ballerina is only 4. The dancewear shop stocks a well priced range of leotards, dance shoes etc and the staff will fit them for you.

The use a church hall for their Charlton Kings lessons, which is convenient for children at the local infant and junior schools. Families coming from slightly further afield (like us) have no problem parking the car. The teachers are very good at dealing with very young children, and the school is adept at dealing with this age group, not ridiculously strict and formal. Shopping opportunties in Charlton Kings are not up to the standards of the town centre, but the post office is handy, and Smith and Mann is an excellent shop if you've forgotten to bring a post-ballet snack!

The teachers are also unapproachable, when trying to raise my concerns the teacher was rude and Condescending and unwilling to accept my concerns. I have also witnessed their lack of sympathy and empathy towards children with disabilities telling one mother of an autistic child that they were not allowed to take their child into class even though this child relies on routine and has communication issues. Making the mother feel like a failure and the child feel like an outcast, the child has also been told she cannot do a certain style of dancing due to a medical condition even though the child can and has been doing these lessons for a while and suddenly is now not allowed. They knock the confidence of children attending, and seem to cram as many students in as possible, not to mention myself and others have witnessed and experienced a particular teacher being rather aggressive towards the students, I would not recomend sending your child to this school, I am very happy to have pulled my child from there and now she is a lot happier at her new dance school and progressing a lot quicker due to smaller classes and nicer teacher that actually have the time to listen and help your children. Sylvia birds went down hill the moment miss bird passed away, she would be ashamed of what has become of her dance school now. I feel disloyal towards miss bird for leaving but it was the best choice for my daughter
