Our main courses were delicious & very generous portions. I had the salmon dish & asked for it to be blackened. It was served with a yummy vegetable medley & parsnip mash.. My man had the etouffee with shrimp & crawfish. We will put this restaurant on our list of favorites. The owner came around to all the tables to say hello. So I called the restaurant and told whoever was in the kitchen that we'd been waiting to be seated for about 15 minutes by then. Immediately our waitress came by and sat us at a table for two, too close to a British couple who gave us the stink eye (Sorry guv, I don't decide where patrons sit; also unlike you, I like to talk to my companion during dinner). There was a birthday party of 8 people and 4 other couples in the restaurant; a lot of empty tables. Our waitress told us that they were short staffed and our food would come only after an hour. She also told us about the 20% gratuity fee upfront which I appreciated. She said that drinks would come immediately but everything else would be a wait. She also said that they had quit allowing anyone else in because of the lack of help. So we did know about the problems beforehand. However, the one hour wait became close to two hours. The margarita I ordered made me tipsy because I was starving by then. They provided 2 little corn muffins that wasn't enough for a 2-hour wait. We had run out of things to talk. I knew there was no point in ordering appetizers because who knew when that would come out? So we waited and waited until all the others were served before our waitress came over to say that they were starting on our food. I had the fried fish - crispy, piping hot and delicious and the truffle fries - cold and limp. My partner had the burger - okay and the regular fries - not enough salt. We walked over to another table to find the salt shaker. At the moment I'd ordered my drink, I had also ordered the entrees and dessert to prevent further delays and so immediately after dinner we had the crème brûlée that was exquisite. We were so hungry that we finished up the ketchup, mayo and tartar sauce. Yeah, that was weird but hunger does that. Our waitress was very nice and comped the margarita because of the delay. I realize that staff shortage is an unfortunate fact of life in the restaurant business but perhaps management should have served complimentary snacks throughout while we were waiting? Even a bag of Lays potato chips from the local Pick 'n Save would have helped stave off hunger. I know that at least two other couples were mildly annoyed at the wait and though it's not the restaurant's fault, I wish that they managed the wait more efficiently.

Paid $9 for jerk pork and chicken over rice and beans, walked it back to my office only to discover the rice was no good. :( I ate some of the jerk meat, and both pork and chicken were severely dry, minimal sauce and flavor. I thought maybe the heat from the meats caused the mushiness in the rice, so I sniffed it and was able to scent a foul odor. My lunch was an absolute fail and all my Hubs had to say was, "That's why we don't go there mon." Ugh. :/ I am giving them one star because the Jerk wings at the Taste were good and the guy working the food cart was friendly. But maybe not friendly enough to know not to serve spoiled food. Really, it's easily enough to last you two good meals. And these will definitely be gooood meals because Jamerica packs their dishes with Flavor. Capital F.
