They are a wonderful, very comfortable chairs to radian. The library has great big, beautiful windows looking out on the outside, so there is plenty of natural light. I have macular degeneration, so I primarily listen to books on Libby. I always loved reading so much that I resisted trying Libby, but I am mediately adopted it on my first pass. I can't recommend anywhere more than this wonderful place.

Their selection is limited, including that of the whole county, but you can't beat the price! It's free as long as you return books on time, anyway. The only annoyance I've found is that you can't renew an item if someone is on the wait list for it, so you really have to be sure you finish with it within the original borrowing period. Failure to do so possibly results in being shuffled to the end of the queue, sometimes months. Libraries in cities I've always lived in allow you the maximum renewals before requiring a book be returned for the next borrower, but what can you expect for 'free?' The only other comment is you really have to mind the various branch hours - as has become customary nationwide with many library system cutbacks - the Jacksonville branch seems closed more often than it is open. Be sure to plan ahead, and utilize the online system to reserve items from other branch locations. It will make your library card more valuable.

(But notably, they have one of the biggest collections of UFO material in the US!) There are used books for sale, as well as many free books! Their spacious conference room is available to rent at an affordable price, which I've often used. RVML hosts regular speakers on a variety of informative topics, and there are often holiday parties which are the talk of the town! Jordan Pease and his staff are always so friendly and willing to help. I've also attended several conferences they've sponsored that are usually sold out, on topical and timely subjects like homelessness, A.I., human trafficking and more. Stop in and check them out! They're a great resource to our community!

Even more important, though, RVML is a spot for people to meet and exchange ideas. They offer free lectures every Tuesday night presented by community members, where you can learn about anything from alternative health to senior care to local history. They sponsor meetings and conferences on some of the big issues that affecting society, such as political polarization, AI and human trafficking. Their conference room is free for community use. And they have parties -- just for fun! If you're intellectually curious, you'll never know what you'll stumble onto there!

There is a large selection of free current magazines to take home, like Martha Stewart Living, Simple, O, Sunset, Runners World and Golf Digest. They also have a separate reading room for Friends Of The Library, as well as .50 books you can purchase. The re are 2 restrooms and if I recall they are Co- Ed, and clean. I appreciated the staff member who smiled and was cordial and helpful, which seems rare these days. They have a small section of dvds you can check out, and music cds as well. They have maps, brochures, and local magazines to hand out for free. Also there is a cute downtown Grants Pass area they can direct you to for shopping and dining. The town has a lot of street art! We loved walking around finding so many cute art pieces. They have a map of the street art all around town so you can easily find as much of it as you want.

It's been awhile since I was personally involved with their services, after taking a wrong turn, at…read moredusk, off a dirt logging road onto another dirt logging road, looking for a mining claim. It had been miles and hours since I last saw a paved road (aptly named Graves Creek Road!) Now I was in the snow! (City chick had been to Tahoe a few times, but other than that, no snow sense.) I was confused and lost! The next day, when my miner friend showed up at my place (I lived on a paved road in town about 20 miles away with a population of 170!) and my roommate told him I had driven up to the miner friend's claim the day before they realized I musta taken a wrong turn somewhere. A call went out and within minutes JCS&R Team Members started "staging" in Sunny Valley ready to come find me. In the meantime, a new day dawned and I found my way out. There were S&R team members driving up good ole Graves Creek Road as I made my descent. They greeted me enthusiastically with hot chocolate, blankets and a desire to hear about my "adventure". I became friends with some of those team members and can assure you, with no doubt, these are dedicated people who VOLUNTEER their time to come to the aid of those in need. They are ANXIOUS to help and take pride in their knowledge of the remote areas, rivers and creeks that make Southern Oregon a very beautiful place to visit. Most are bred, born and raised in these parts; have spent time hunting, fishing, logging and running the river and the knowledge and expertise they bring when they are called out is invaluable. The county covers a wide territory and the total population is about 81,000. Bless these mountain men and women!

He chapped us for climbing a dead tree in a forest with no sign and blamed my kids for destroying a bird house that they found on the ground in pieces and we're actually trying to fix. Then mad dogged me shaking his head as I drove away- Get a life dude- or how about do your job and if you don't like it then get the hell out. No need to make others feel as miserable as you are. Oregon, you can do better than that. Did I mention I brought him homemade jam when we first arrived thinking this guys old and way out here, maybe he'd enjoy a gift- so sad when we try and be generous and kind and people can't get past their misery to see the light in others. Don't want someone to climb a tree- THEN put up a gosh darn sign.
