When it came time for me to look at engagement rings, I brought the family ring my mother gave me to Wayne and Amy to get their advice. I know nothing about diamonds or rings. I showed them the ring and asked what I should do: Should I get a new setting? Is the diamond any good? Should I just start from scratch and buy a new diamond and setting? Wayne examined the diamond and the ring and told me not to change a thing. The diamond may not be the biggest but it is classic - he told me - and the setting is just fine. We bought my engagement ring online. Within 6 months the stone fell out of it!!! Thankfully I didn't lose it. We didn't purchase insurance on it( stupid mistake) so we were assed out!!! I went on Yelp to find a decent priced jeweler in Hamden and found Rubys. I'm very glad I did. They appraised how much it would cost to fix and they also made it a whole size smaller (recent 60lb weight loss made my ring too big) With my ring being rose gold they had to order some since they don't keep it on hand. It took about 2 weeks but it was well worth it!!! My ring looked better than when I first got it! They are very reasonably priced. They are very nice and caring people and have been in business for over 30 years. They even invited me to their anniversary party and told me to bring my fiancé!! I found this place while I was in the area at the Hamden Dog Park (which is also great!). I walked in and was warmly welcomed by one of the owners, who immediately called her husband out of the back of the shop when I told her that I needed some links taken out of my watch. I thought I was just going to drop the watch off, but her husband made it clear that he would do it right away. 15 minutes later, my watch is perfect. They also offered some water for my dog that I kept checking on and letting out of the car because it was a hot day! Talk about service! We came to Ruby's on Christmas Eve day, looking for wedding bands for our last-minute elopement between Xmas and NYE in NYC. We didn't want anything fancy but it's still a lot to ask for on short notice. Wayne and Amy (and Ruby herself!) really delivered. They sized us, we selected the rings, they gave us a great price, and told us they'd call us later in the day when I've rings were ready. Just a few hours later, we were back to pick them up and were greeted warmly, with nice hugs, congratulations, a lovely presentation box and a bottle of wine! What a lovely experience and what a nice family. I'm so happy that Ruby's was open in the first place, but I'm absolutely thrilled with our beautiful wedding bands. Fantastic experiences. I bought my fiancé's and my wedding bands from them. And all I can say is that the owners were amazing. There was no pressure, they encouraged us to purchase a band for me that was cheaper but in their opinion looked better (and they were right), and they were so incredibly nice. The wedding bands were ready on time, for a reasonable price, and they looked spectacular. They were everything we could hope for.
