    Thank you Ruby Whiskers!

Look.... this is a grass roots organization that rescues so many puppies, dogs, kitten, and cats. They have A LOT on their plate and they are not perfect but they love these animals. We fostered twice and adopted our last foster. He fits right into our family and we adore our boy. Thank you to everyone at Ruby for doing so much good for these babies. Don't let anyone discourage you!

Ruby whiskers showed their true colors this past weekend when I went to foster a long term shelter dog. It was listed that they did a dog test and the dog was labeled "friendly" after being tested with 1 dog. I got the dog home and he attacked my resident dog, who was smaller than him, clearly a dominance issue. When I reached out to Kim and Jackie about this issue, I was literally berated and chastised for needing to get a new foster for this dog for fear that he would attack my resident and it would not end well. Kim proceeded to tell me what a horrible foster I was for needing to find a new one for the safety of my resident. Then made a comment about not being human...??? Really?? Who says that to a foster family who is trying to help you and you want me to continue putting my resident at risk??? Work with a rescue that actually does real dog testing. No one deserves to be chastised like this.

We are fortunate to have a place like Ruby Whiskers. They truly care about animals and I was happy to adopt a cat from them.

Especially around customer service, the amount of time it takes to adopt a pet and if the pet was still adoptable once we got through the process. Well, we DIDN'T have ANY of the bad experiences others reported. The customer service upon entry from START to FINISH was OUTSTANDING. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the front desk with excellent customer service. The 'cat' coordinator who took us to the cat section was VERY knowledgeable about the cats and spent an incredible amount of time with us. We didn't feel rushed at all. P.A.W.S followed through with everything they said they would do. The whole process from seeing our little Whisper to picking her up and taking her to her new home was six days (and that's because two of the days we weren't available). The process went very smoothly. They answered our questions in person and returned our phone calls and emails timely. They are very concerned about their pets and the homes their animals are placed in. We feel really honored to house one of the pets from their facility. Thank you P.A.W.S for everything you do for animals!

Horrible. My mom and I have been searching for a puppy that was either a German shepherd, husky,…read moreor lab. We went to this facility before close at 4 and don't get my wrong the lady who came out to talk to us was amazing and shared great info on how to utilize their website to see what animals they had available! They had a beautiful puppy that was a lab/retriever mix. So my mom went through the process and applied to adopt this little fur baby. After two weeks, there had been no reply from the people who supposedly view these applications. So my mom had emailed for an update 3 times!!!! WITH NO RESPONSE. I don't know who is in charge of that but it's straight ignorance. I understand they want to find a good home for these animals but jeez at least communicate! We have been dog lovers are whole life. In this household we currently have a German shepherd who is 6 years old and had a German/ husky mix that had passed two Christmas' ago at the age of 12. With no email back, my mom and I went up to the facility to meet the pup in person. And the rules there are RIDICULOUS. You can not get to the level of the dog which is crouching to the floor. They don't allow the dog to lick you or come too close in contact with you. It's like how are you supposed to get to know the pup and see if it's a right fit for you? They don't allow 1:1 with the pup and it's crazy. After not hearing back for a month and a half, we ended up saving/adopting a pup from a humane society in Munster, Indiana. She's beautiful, shots up to date, fixed, got 1:1 time with her, and took her home the same day! She got along with our shepherd and the kids love her. DO NOT GO TO PAWS

The parking situation at Walmart had me a little confused because I don't know directions of Southwest. But I was able to find where the busses, which seemed like two would run a continuously. When dropped off, it was a short walk to get to the front to pay your entrance fee. You could use cash or credit. They had a small open field for where they did presentations. If you want to be able to sit down, I recommend coming a little early, otherwise you will either stand the whole time or you can choose to sit on the grass. It's not a very big place. So once you walk around, you kind of see all of the animals, some a little bit harder to spot. It's cool to see wolves and learn a little bit more about that them about the tigers and the bear. They also had silly safari come out to do a presentation which was really cool to be able to be up close and personal with some of the animals that they brought. They do have food that you can buy on site.If you're feeling a little hungry. We did get a raffle ticket, but I have no idea when the raffle was happening as we didn't stay all day .But overall, it was a fun experience. It's so you make it what it is. When going there and back, it seems like there were 2 busses making frequent trips, so the wait was fairly short for the shuttle. The process of getting in was fairly quick and efficient, with separate lines for cash and credit. Near the entrance, there was a large space for watching presentations, which were fairly well done -- similar to what I've seen at other similar shows. It would have been nice to have some more bench seating, but this seemed sufficient -- with most patrons standing and some sitting down on the grass. The remainder of the facility featured animals scattered throughout different cages, and some chickens running around throughout the farm. During my visit, many of them were resting though at times they would walk around slowly. Some of the smaller animals were a bit more difficult to spot as they would blend into their surroundings. Overall, a fun experience and one of the few spots in the midwest where you'll be able to see several wolves together like this (I believe Wolf Park in Indiana and Brookfield Zoo are the other ones nearby Chicago - with other options in Ohio, Minnesota, and Missouri for a slightly longer trip).

It is so helpful to have someone you can ask questions of, to reassure and comfort you at a fraught and emotional time. Every criteria we had was met and exceeded: we wanted Maggie to feel no fear, to have unhurried time with her, to have a clear understanding of what was going to happen, to say goodbye on our terms. Maggie simply and immediately accepted Dr. Kriner's presence, decided she welcomed pets and affection from this sweet person she had never met. The only focus was Maggie, to have her feel complete love surrounding her, to let her enjoy cheeseburgers and chocolate, pets, hugs, kisses, many words of love, to make certain she knew exactly how special she was and always would be and that we were grateful for her life with us. There is no avoiding how heartbreaking a time it is, but to have a precious fur baby handled with love, calmness, gentleness, respect and care is an enormous comfort. We are so profoundly grateful for Dr. Kriner. She returned Maggie's ashes to us with the same compassion with which Maggie left our home. We are unspeakably touched by every aspect of interaction with Dr. Jessica Kriner of Compassionate Heart.

We also attend the group classes which are incredibly unique and let my dog build up practice interacting with other dogs in a way that reinforce new, good behaviors. My neighbors are thrilled with the progress almost as much as I am - my dog no longer automatically barks at everyone outside now and is able to make new friends. No. But it is ABSOLUTELY worth it. When I leave my dog in the care of The Canine's Voice I know that she's going to be safe, loved, and will learn a few things while she's there. The classes are incredibly valuable too. The results speak for themselves.
