Food is always so fresh and delicious. Their thai tea is incredible, and they offer limes on the side for your meal as well. Owners are incredibly kind and if you eat there as often as I do, they even remember you and offer you little deals or will make you food fresh on the spot for being so loyal. Only time I've ever noticed a problem is if you're explicitly rude to them first. I work in the mall so I dine with them nearly daily, so not a problem for me. They're fast and efficient, I choose them over any other venue 90% of the time because I always know I'm getting a good meal for a good price. read more

Pretty good fast food at the mall. I liked the Thai chicken as it was really good. It was pretty spicy too with the jalapeños they put in the Thai chicken. If you are at the mall you will have to check this place out. It's probably been there the longest of any other fast food place in the food court. I would rate this place zero stars if possible. The lady behind that counter during lunch was SO RUDE. I came here with some special needs students who have allergies. She yelled at me when I asked to clarify if something was gluten free. There was no line behind us, and I was helping one of my students count her money. All in all, not too bad. We stopped in to the food court for a quick dinner before our movie. As usual, there isn't much of a line anywhere, and the only decision we have to make is where to spend our money. We landed on Ruby Thai. I had the coconut shrimp (very good, this is a favorite of mine), fried rice (no flavor, it was like white rice but separated), and sesame chicken (the first few bites were good but then it became a bit overpowering, maybe it was the heavy breading and too much soy sauce in the marinade? Idk. I ate most of it so that says something). I honestly could have gotten this plate from Panda Express or any other Asian fast-foody place. Nothing stood out as unique and the food was just pretty mediocre. I don't know that I won't go back since the food court is kinda limited in choice. It's kinda loud as it usually is in these places but the seating is plentiful and there's a big picture window you can look out. This place actually has pretty decent food for the most part. The part that makes me give them two stars is because the lady that runs it is absolutely so rude. I watch her treat multiple people with complete disrespect even though they are giving her business. The guy that works there is nice and if he ran it by himself they would be much more successful. Okay, you're in a mall, and you're hungry, what do you really think your choices are gonna be? Located in Vancouver Mall's food court, Ruby Thai has one of several outlets for their variation on Thai food. Like a poor man's Panda Express (which is oddly right next door and probably should be your first choice), Ruby Thai serves similar fare with a slight leaning towards Thai style foods, but not by much. This is not where you are going to find delicious Thai food, remember you're in a mall. I ate here before ever reading any of the Yelper's reviews on this location. For the Yelper who found a piece of metal in their meal, yeah, that's just not acceptable from ANY food vendor, and that info is enough for me to never eat here (or any of their other locations) again. That said, I had none of the issues mentioned in these other reviews, the employees were attentive towards me and happily gave me several samples. And the food wasn't that bad*. It was low on flavour (read: watered down), something really necessary with Thai food, but the portions were large and I did not find any foreign materials in my meal. Ruby Thai holds a low bar for Thai food, but then again, we are talking about mall food here. It's also a bad sign when a restaurant has failed to claim their reviews on Yelp. This all adds up to yet another reason you should really avoid eating in malls under most circumstances. Barely one star, not recommended. * UPDATE - I realized after eating here that I had gotten some sort of stomach bug from their food, it has taken a couple of weeks to work its way thru me. I've moved my review down to less than one star and Highly Not Recommended. As for the four or five-star reviews here, yes, there are a couple of them, they are obviously from either friends or employees of Ruby Thai, or else from people who got very lucky when they ate here. Surprisingly good food for mall food! Was unsure what to order as I wanted something vegetarian. Decided to go with Tofu Pad Kee Mao and so glad I did. It did take a while to get it ready as they had to cook it fresh for me in the back. When it arrived it smelled super good and tasted flavorful. It was my first time trying out wide, thick noodles and I really liked how they were seasoned. Wish there was more sauce though! I got mine not spicy and it came out just how I wanted. It would have been nice to offer soy sauce on the side, or even a sweet chilli sauce or something. Also ordered mango lemonade and it was SUPER tasty! It actually tasted like real mangoes and the small size was actually pretty big! They had two sizes, small and large and to me, the small was more like a medium than a small. Great prices too, for both drink and noodles. Even the fortune cookies tasted fresh :) initially I was worried about ordering from this place as it had some terrible reviews on Yelp but I'm so glad I did and I think they've improved their standards since then. I didn't order anything from their already prepared food on the other side of the glass so I can't comment on how fresh those items were but, I'm hoping they were just as good as my dish. The man behind the counter was kind and tried to get us to try some chicken samples, which I didn't, as I'm a vegetarian/vegan, and he helped guide me towards the tofu dishes. Pretty good for mall food court selections. I saw the spot next door was selling roughly the same type of food, but opted for this one because of the soup options. While I got a basic two item box to go (the standard rice with broccoli beef and honey chicken), the wonton soup was calling my name. I feel a cold coming on and some warm broth seemed like a good choice. The menu shows that their soups typically come with noodles in addition to the wontons, but I asked the woman behind the counter if she could omit them. She winked at me and said she would add extra wontons. Super sweet! My boy loves spice and noodles so he went for a spicy beef and noodles bowl. The soups are apparently made to order because it took about 7 minutes to be up. Not a problem. It was piping hot! The kid and I snacked on some of the honey chicken and rice while we waited for the soups to cool. (Sorry, forgot to get a picture of that.). Good flavor. Not super greasy or overly fried. Light on the salt and sauce. Just the way I like it but the kid wanted more of the sauce. After a few minutes, we were able to grub on the soup. Each came with noodles or wontons, green onions, broth, and bok choy. Again, the boy also had spicy beef. Quite a bit in the to-go bowls they're served in. Good thing they came that way too because we both had leftovers. Sturdy containers thankfully that made it home and to the fridge. The price was decent with the average cost per dish being $7.70. Our total bill for two soups, one 2 item to-go plate, a bottled water and a medium soda was $27. I wished the food in the to go container had been warmer. We snacked on that right away and it was not hot at all. It was tasty though so I was able to partially overlook that. Overall, I give the place 4.5 stars. One thing to note, this place is not Thai food! I think they label it that way to separate themselves from the business next door but really, it's not that much different. No herbs and spices that you typically find in Thai food restaurants were found in our dishes today. read more

Alright you guys, despite the past reviews, this is a family owned company but they have improved with their other hires. Food and sanitation do look like they have improved and are much more customer friendly, but you do have to keep in mind that they are human and may get flustered and not give the same treatment to every customer because they are in a rush with lunch hour. Highly recommend their Thai Iced Tea or Mango Lemonade; such great refreshers! My ultimate favorite combo is the noddles with orange and sesame chicken. Portions sizes are in good ratio for what you pay for. Haven't tried their other special menu items such as shrimp or egg rolls but I stick to items that I know they make fresh. This is a solid place to get food and fills you up and I like to say it's my favorite comfort food, but it may not be for everyone. This place has its ups and downs, but I've been going here for a year and nothing bad has occurred to me yet. You be the judge! read more

The Pad Thai ($8.25) was made to order in the back, rather than scooped out of the warming trays like the other entrees. It's not even really Thai food as their entrees are items such as orange chicken, chow mein and honey walnut shrimp. Their chicken dishes just do not have that tenderness and tastes cheap. Honey Walnut Shrimp is one of my favorite Chinese dishes but Ruby Thai's is most likely the worst I've ever had. The breading usually falls right off and is not crispy at all on any level. If anything, their honey walnut shrimp tastes very soggy. Once I have gotten their Pad Thai which is something that is made inside of the kitchen and served fresh. If anything, it was just very mediocre Pad Thai. No spiciness (Nor can you choose a level of it) and nothing special at all. If I want good oriental food from the mall court, I'll just go right next to Ruby Thai and eat at Panda Express. Absolutely never going there again. read more

There was mold in my food and when I told the server, she threatened to call security if I told anyone else. Also, the servers hands were not gloved when serving food, he also handled cash and went back to serving and ove everything there looked unsanitary. Food was good until I found a piece of metal scour in my child's food. Think of large steel wool piece used to clean metal woks... Discreetly Brought it to managers attention and they wanted to give us more food from the same pan and refused to remove the pan from the line. Will not be back it's a matter of safety. My problem was not with the food it was the refusal to remove possible dangerous food with metal scours in the food. Apparently they would rather risk safety and assume possible legal ramifications than ditch a pan of 15 dollar food. read more

This restaurant is right next to Panda Express by the hallway. I LOVE this place. The people that work there are lovely and their food is amazing. If you go I highly recommend coconut shrimp, noodles and sesame chicken as a meal. Its soooo good. I was in line for Panda Express with the guy who works for Ruby Tai offered me some samples off his sample tray. OMG I fell in love with the shrimp. Its creamy buttery tropical goodness! My husband and I immediately left the Panda Express line and hopped into theirs! Try this meal its amazing especially if you like shrimp. I don't ever go to Panda anymore! My hubby and I stumbled across this place this evening and decided to give it a whirl. It's located right next to Panda Express, which is pretty ambitious, since they sell essentially the same fare. We tried their noodles (chow mien), fried rice, honey chicken, beef with broccoli and some other beef dish my hubs forgot the name of (he's so helpful). The noodles were thicker and less dry than PE's usually is and the fried rice tasted more "real" than PE's, too. Their honey chicken was delicious, a little sweet, but very satisfying. The beef and broccoli was a little mushy, but my husband still scarfed it down and the other beef dish was a hit, too. And it was about half the price of Panda! Great deal for really decent food. I will have to try their steamed veggies next time, they looked really fresh and enticing. read more
