When she finally decided to assist us, her attitude was condescending and rude. What made the experience even more uncomfortable was that I felt racially profiled when I simply asked how much a slice of strawberry shortcake cost. After telling me the price, she immediately questioned whether I could afford it or if I still wanted it, which I found insulting and inappropriate. To make matters worse, the slice of cake was not worth the $9 price tag. Between the poor service, disrespectful treatment, and disappointing product, I have no intention of returning. There are plenty of bakeries that treat their customers with courtesy and respect--this is not one of them.

The portions of everything are very generous. Sandwiches and avocado toast are definitely enough to share or take home for a second meal. We shared a lemon crepe which had what tasted like house made lemon curd inside of it. It was dusted with powdered sugar and created a delicious flavor. Crepe was perfectly prepared. I ordered the avocado toast which was twice the size of what I expected and could eat, so it made a very nice lunch later. The avocado is a spread as opposed to sliced; although I prefer sliced, this was actually pretty tasty. This also came with a fried egg on both of the pieces of toast and thinly sliced radishes, flat leaf parsley, sesame seed, and a generous amount of pickled red onion which I adore. The bread is a lovely European multigrain. Underneath the toast, I found a beautiful fresh green salad with a balsamic vinaigrette and tomatoes, and all in all this was the perfect dish. My dining companion chose the turkey sandwich, and this two was a very large sandwich. It looked really great and had a lot of turkey on it, so much that it looked like fresh turkey as opposed to a deli meat, but I'm really not sure. For some reason, she didn't especially care for her sandwich; may have been a little too much pesto on it for her likes, but I thought it looked wonderful and also came with a salad. I had a drip coffee, for which I was told I could get refills for free, and my companion had a latte. Both were very good. I would like to come back sometime and purchase some of their desserts as they all looked absolutely amazing.

I am writing to raise a serious food safety concern regarding products sold at Europa International…read moreFood Market. During a recent visit, we purchased several European chocolates and cookies with the intention of bringing them home to California for our children. After opening the products, we noticed an unusual taste and checked the expiration dates. We discovered that the items we purchased had already expired. One package of cookies was more than a month past its expiration date and contained visible mold. We also observed multiple chocolate products on the shelves that appeared to be expired by as much as three months. While I understand that some items may have been discounted or placed on sale, expired food products should not be offered for sale to customers. Products that are past their expiration dates should be promptly removed from shelves to protect consumer health and safety. My primary concern is the potential risk to families and children. Had we not checked the dates before consuming the products, or had we given them directly to our children, the consequences could have been far more serious. This situation is unacceptable and raises concerns about inventory management and food safety practices at the store. I encourage customers to carefully check expiration dates before purchasing food items from this market, and I urge the store to review its procedures and immediately remove all expired products from sale to help prevent future incidents.

The vegetables and produce are cheaper, and higher quality, than most of the larger grocery stores, and having a decent selection of Asian staples, from noodles to sauces, has been a lifesaver, on more than one occasion. Inventory can be a little inconsistent, with certain items that were once stocked disappearing, sometimes never to return. With two massive supermarkets only a few miles away, this "little brother" location feels like a bit of an afterthought in the greater Hong Phat empire, relegated to housing overstock, and catering to only the most basic of needs, but for what it offers, there's really nothing else like it in Parkrose, and the same is true for almost all of NE Portland east of 82nd, other than Lily Market on Halsey.
