When I came to Ruby, my hair was a disaster. Because she is one of the kindest people I know, she hid it well, but I think she was probably horrified by my damage and overgrown split ends. Naturally, it is long, dirty blonde and fine in texture, with a slight wave. However, I've spent the past several years bleaching my hair repeatedly (with stronger developer than it really needed, too!) to the point where it was dry, brittle, frizzy and falling apart. I tried to dye it dark brown to try and salvage it, but that wasn't enough. Initially, I came to Ruby last fall for a Keratin treatment, but she educated me about her collagen option as well. The collageno treatment is similar to Keratin, but you can wash your hair the same day and it allows you to keep more wave/volume than the pin-straight Keratin result. I was hesitant at first, because I was worried that without the straight Keratin result, I would still have some frizz. I couldn't have been more wrong though! The treatment took about 3 hours and completely transformed my hair to its original texture, as if the bleach damage hadn't occurred. When I blow dry it, my hair dries way faster now (5-8 mins, tops) with just a normal brush and because there is only a slight wave and no frizz, I don't have to heat style it after. So easy! I can even beat my boyfriend out the door now. I got the treatment done again 4 months later, but as the damage grows out and Ruby has been keeping an eye on my hair, I don't think I will need another that soon. Not only is she talented with styling and treatments, she is also very honest. Her main priority is the health of your hair. I could have walked into another salon and asked for more highlights and easily gotten them, which would have just destroyed my hair even more. Ruby will honestly tell you whether or not she thinks your hair can handle more processing before doing it, which is rare. I've told her I'd like to change the color when my hair has grown out a bit more from my platinum blonde days (but not yet because I don't want to risk losing my progress from the collageno treatment). Instead of just saying "okay" and taking my money, she will sincerely tell you whether or not it's a good idea and how long she'd wait before doing it again. You can trust her! Since meeting her, I have been religiously coming to her whenever she recommends haircuts. My hair looks better than it has in years. I can't thank Ruby enough! read more

I was looking for an alternative to keratin for my VERY curly, frizzy hair. In fact I was having a a bad reaction to keratin--my eyes and throat were irritated with keratin treatments. I called Ruby and she suggested a treatment called "Collageno". I came in for the treatment and knew I was in fantastic hands. The quality of Ruby's service is better than some of the most expensive salons in the area - and believe me, I've tried them. I have thin, curly hair that's difficult to work with. I was looking for a low-maintenance hairstyle and Ruby gave me exactly what I was looking for, without sacrificing style. I always get compliments after a hair cut with Ruby. Ruby's service really stands out when it comes to color/highlights and keratin treatments. Every time, they look amazing and better than I could have envisioned. She's great at selecting the right hair color for your skin. She only uses the highest quality product, and it really shows in the results. The color and keratin treatments last a long time unlike other salons - they don't just wash out in a couple weeks. She's also flexible, so you can find a time that works for a professional's schedule, and don't need to schedule an appointment months in advance. I went to Ruby this Monday for a (strong) keratin treatment. It's Wednesday now, and I just washed my hair and the results are fantastic! Ruby is super knowledgeable and very willing to explain things. My hair is naturally very think, with big lose curls, (looks like the kind of curl you get when you use a curling iron) and I also have a bit of frizz. Because there are so many layers of curls, and I do almost no hair maintenance, it gets matted really easily. (If I figure out how to post photos, I will). Here are the details: -The cost for a keratin treament is $200+ (I paid $250 b/c my hair is short but very thick, then I gave additional tip and bought $100 of the hair supplies she recommended - shampoo, conditioner and leave in conditioner). -I'm one of the cheapest people I know, but I think this was money well spent. I have never bought any products from a salon before, but I trusted Ruby's recommendation because she's honest and she uses the products herself. -She uses the Magikbeauty brand of keratin treatment. She offers weak, medium and strong treatments. I opted for strong keratin treatment because my I wanted my hair to be almost straight, but still have a bit of volume. -She applies the treatment super carefully (offers you a mask, wears a mask and gloves herself, has fans running so it's as pleasant an experience as it gets when having chemicals applied to your head. -She takes her time to do the application thoroughly and correctly. She spent 3 hours on my hair, most of that time was spent blowdrying and flat ironing. -She only does keratin treatments on Sunday and Monday. I've gotten my hair chemically relaxed and straightened before, and these are by far the best results I've had, and I think it's due to her technique and attention to detail. As I mentioned, I'm super cheap, so I priced the cost of buying Magikbeauty keratin chemicals and doing it on my own ($167), but it's well worth the money to go to Ruby. I've never gone to the same salon twice (I cut my own hair a lot) but I'll be going back to Ruby when I need a haircut because she seems really skilled, is a good listener and is trustworthy. read more

I was really down because no one wants to walk around with ugly hair and I was about to go on vacation. Ruby saved the day. She gave me one amazing color and my hair looks better than ever. Ruby has been saving my hair since I started coming to her over 3 years ago. I still love the highlights she gives me but this review is actually about the Collagen hair treatment she did this past weekend. Quick background story, I recently thought I wanted to go back to one solid color and used a box dye...well I hated it. I used the oops hair color remover and tried re-dying it... end result I still hated it plus my hair was fried. I called Ruby and she added highlights back in...huge improvement then I came back a week later for the Collagen hair treatment. I was on the fence between the Botox treatments or Collagen treatments (as she offers both treatments) but she recommended the Collagen and I'm so glad she did. It not only looks a million times healthier it feels healthy. These pictures will speak for themselves but this left my hair super shiny and soft. My hair would be lost without Ruby.
