Well, here I am again. Actually, I've been here 4 times this week. I'd get my usual and didn't want to provide you with the boring details. Today, I'm writing a review because I never had Hunan Beef. The thought of getting out of my lane was amusing so I asked if they would make me the dish without any spice. I brought it to my car and was happy to smell that distinctive aroma where everyone asks, "What is that dish?" I am proud to say that I had that dish sitting shotgun. When I got to work and opened it up, I saw these tiny rabbit like droppings. Surely this wouldn't be right on top and I'm sure they don't have a pet bunny hopping around. I have nerves of steel and tried one. It's definitely a black bean, but what kind? In runs Google. They are fermented black beans! I love this family run business. The guy that sees me almost everyday needs to stop calling me ma'am. At the same time, I need to stop calling him sir. Back to the Hunan Beef. Very good. I'll go back and ask for a little spice. I'm that kind of risky.

Needed somewhere quick to eat that wasn't exactly fast food and decided to give this place a try. It is located in a strip mall so there is plenty of parking. If you are trying to find it, it's the small place next to Autozone. As previously stated, the place is small, but there are 2 tables available if you decide to eat there. The menu is on the wall which makes it easier to just walk up and look for what you want. The prices are reasonable. I ordered chicken egg foo young which comes with gravy. The gravy didn't really have a taste but the egg foo young was good.

I'd say Ruby Chen's is a 2.5 star chinese strip mall restaurant. Mediocre food but very friendly staff, and a clean kitchen. I had egg drop soup (2.5/5)- too eggy Sesame chicken w white rice- 2/5 Egg roll (3/5) Wouldnt go here again unless I couldnt find any other chinese place. I would say if you want strip mall chinese, choose this place over others because it was CLEAN and FRIENDLY

The food is okay and the price is reasonable. But the front of the restaurant with about 4 tables is kind of untidy and messy.

The rice was dry and the food is made in what seems a rushed fashion. The ingredients they use are cheap.

While waiting for my party to arrive, I perused the wine menu. It was quite extensive. I think an oenophile would be quite happy with the selection offered. I had a Cotes du Rhone (Alain Jaume, $12) that I thoroughly enjoyed. The menu is adequately sized, but I would not say it was extensive. If you are looking for your favorite Sunday eve dish, you may not find it here, but you won't have a problem if you can pivot to another preparation. Dishes ordered at my table were a spring roll, a house special wonton soup (very flavorful) and lobster dumplings for appetizers. If I can be nit-picky, I'd suggest that they change the size of their dishes to smaller plates and bowls. The food looked puny on the large stark-white plates without a garnish, but all the flavors were spot on, so does it really matter? I actually think it does because you can tell that the owners take pride in the details of their establishment. For entree's, we ordered a spicy shrimp dish (4 jumbo, crisp shrimps came in the order), a Grand Marnier crispy beef (4 large pieces), a house fried rice with nuggets of char siu pork, tender baby shrimp, white meat chicken, egg and vegetables and a special of wok fried string beans which was by far the standout of our meal. After supper, we ordered some tea. It was somewhat weak in flavor but that could have been our fault; we did not let it steep long enough. The waiter came by with a tray of delicious-looking cakes to choose from but we declined. Every person that we encountered was nicer than the next. The waiters were knowledgeable and paced our meal well. Prices are not inexpensive, and reservations are definitely suggested. They do takeout as well.

I didn't understand the prices until the food came out. The shrimp and scallops were HUGE. I mean the size of a crab cake almost. The quality and freshness of the seafood makes this place next level. The portions are also large and shareable -- for 2 ppl we had leftovers. I fell in love with the Chinese mustard sauce they put on the table. Added the perfect touch of spice / heat. They have a full bar but they made me a nice grapefruit cocktail I enjoyed.

I asked the server how long they have been open and he said 8 months but I see Yelp pics and reviews dating back at least 3 years. Someone must have told him the wrong information but no matter, we are just glad we finally found it. We went with the classic Shoyu Ramen with nishu beef and black garlic. I was over the moon when they touted a 12 hour chicken broth soup base. Every ramen shop I have tried to get ramen from has a pork based broth which I do not eat. I'm finally able to have ramen and boy it did not disappoint. The noodles were perfectly al dente and had a satisfying chew with every bite. The broth was so flavorful with the bamboo shoots, bean sprouts and all the slow cooked fats and oil from the chicken broth and the nishu beef, which was tender, thinly sliced rib-eye meat, I suspect. All this topped off with a perfectly cooked soy marinated egg. What an amazing flavor combination. The takoyaki appetizer was also delicious. Biting into the crispy exterior, you are then met with a soft and tender interior filled with chunks of octopus. The balls sat atop Japanese mayo and was drizzled with delicious takoyaki sauce. All it was missing was the katsuobushi which would have elevated the takoyaki flavor. We also ordered the Mala Shrimp which was on the Chinese menu and did not come with rice. That had to be ordered separately. Food came out quick as we were the only patrons apart from another table outside and service was good until a large party sauntered in and the server became inundated with requests. All in all, we will definitely be back to try out other menu items.

It's in a different type of location -- a very small strip of businesses with only a few spots in front -- in the middle of a residential location. We were driving by between lunch and dinner and decided to stop to bring some food home for a later meal. When we stopped by, we got to meet the owners and chef. They were both very welcoming and friendly. He told us about some special meals and made suggestions. He was preparing some blue crabs for his own lunch, and they looked wonderful. You can get some special meals here, off menu, if you preorder. We went with a couple of our usual choices so we could see how they compared. We ordered some pork with Chinese vegetables and an order of Singapore rice noodles. Plus, for me an order of egg roll. The rice noodles were such a large portion that it filled two containers. And we wound up eating several meals from our take home food. The eggroll was very good. I ate one right away! There were two to the order. It had a different crispy wrapper -- it seemed house made. And it was filled with larger bits of meat. I really liked it. There was a lot of large flat pork slices in with the vegetables. In a brown sauce, there was broccoli, bok choy, pea pods, etc. It came with a side container of white rice. The rice noodles were fragrant with curry, but it only had a slight kick (as in not too spicy). There were lots of shrimp, chicken, and pork strips mixed in with the thin noodles. This dish was addictive. We are so glad we stopped to try them. Really one of the better Chinese places we've tried and certainly one of the better take-out places. Wish they were closer, or we'd be there more often.
