I'd heard that there were plenty of restaurants to choose from along Piper St & there were, but a bakery, the Little Swallow Cafe & one other eatery were the only places open on a Monday morning. So we found ourselves at the Little Swallow Cafe. It's a lovely little cafe, with a good breakfast / brunch menu. Not so many options that you feel overwhelmed by the menu but still plenty to choose from. Both of us were very happy with how our eggs were done, & we shared a sourdough toasty, yummy all round. I enjoyed my coffee & although my husband grumbled about the "girly" cup his tea was served in, I thought the mixed cup & saucer (local op shop finds I guess) served on a pretty little tray were a nice touch! Overall a recommend cafe for breakfast or a coffee to go.

Quaint cute little cafe tucked away just enough off the busy main street to offer a relaxed and comfortable cafe opportunity outside the city. Food and coffee were both wonderful, and anyone in the area or passing through would be well advised to stop by. I'm really glad I did.

Our food had not arrived an hour after ordering (other diners that had arrived a long time after we ordered received their food) Once again we asked the sassy waitress about our food, once again she was rude so we told her that we would pay for our coffees etc and left. Especially if your produce is local. 2 Art work must be quirky and amusing. Slightly enjoyable to the eye but not overly in your face or offensive 3 Rustic country charm, with home made looking goods on display 4 Mildly bemused staff. I'm never sure if they are smiling or have gas. The St Bean set up has been developed well, considering the very tiny space. It certainly doesn't open itself up for those with prams. Doors have to be unlocked to get baby wheels in and out. There is a generally good selection of couture style home wastes, condiments and foodie knick knacks. A generous display cabinet shows off lovely baguettes and pies, plus a few other tasty treats. The variance in price really shocked me. $7 for a ham cheese toasty but $18 for a pie. Coffee was the usual $3.9/4.50 price. A Macedom Ranges agreed price it seems. We couldn't tell you what was on offer bean wise, as the bags where hidden away and the staff didn't know. The toasty was a saviour. Petite in size but packing a punch in the pallette. Perfectly toasted so the bread was crisp and the cheese melted. By far the best toasty I've had in the region!!!

The reason I love this is because it means that I don't have to worry about my tea being excessively strong (as is the case with a lot of places that I go to, that insist on letting the tea 'brew'). Anyway, another thing that I loved about this place was the awesome service that I got. It honestly really did give this place a lot of charm. However, the one thing that did annoy me was the fact that breakfast ended at 11:00 am. Oh well, I guess you can't have everything.
