Very nice place, the food is excellent. The only thing that went slow was the service with some long waiting periods! Great place
Great service, the menu is large, and the ingredients are obviously meticulously chosen.

However - I wish I hadn't ordered the bleu cheese salad because it was good but I was sooooo full and I wanted to enjoy my salmon. The French onion risotto was absolutely amazing. I had never tasted such a combination of flavors and I found myself dipping my spoon in this dish even when I had given up on my main meal due to being full. It was just that good. My husband and I do not speak Spanish and we had no trouble ordering and asking for recommendations. Everyone was super helpful and attentive. If visiting Santiago, ensure you make at least one trip to Ox. I made my reservation on line via email. It's in a nice residential area and a quick uber ride to the city. Consider doing a 1pm lunch and then going to the cathedral square for the free walking tour at 3:30. You'll want to walk off your meal!

Alas, we decided to go to Ox at the last minute on a Saturday night, and all the al fresco tables were already booked, but there were plenty of tables inside. We ordered a round of pisco sours to start - delicious and refreshing. A plate of warm bread soon followed. For starters, I ordered the blue cheese salad, which turned out to be enormous, but I found it to be long on iceberg lettuce and short on toppings. Definitely enough for two people to share - wish I'd known that. For dinner I got the bone-in ribeye steak. It was one of the most beautiful steaks I've ever seen - check out the picture. It was served with a couple different kinds of salt, which I'd recommend skipping, because the steak had plenty of flavor to stand on its own. Although the steak was done just right, unfortunately about a third of it was gristle and fat. I don't mind some fat on a ribeye, but in this case it was excessive. The restaurant has a nice wine list. We ordered a bottle of Chilean red, which was beautifully presented and a great complement to the steaks. As a joke, our waitstaff brought over an oversize bottle of wine to place on our table and offered to take our pictures. I guess it was pretty obvious we were tourists. As another whimsical touch, a dish of complimentary cotton candy was delivered to our table at the end of the meal. Overall, a good experience, although a bit pricey for what we got.

The reason to choose Carnal over one of the million other steakhouses in Las Condes or Vitacura is…read moresimple: it has a decidedly American menu and feel. Rather than gooey provaleta and "a lo pobre" fries, you will see mozzarella sticks, truffle mac and cheese, and burrata on the menu. The first time we brought U.S. guests here, I was actually a little bummed that everything was so familiar to them, but Carnal did not disappoint. We have come here with big groups and the staff are always accommodating. The wines are delicious and unique and the meat cuts are very American (as one Yelper points out, it's USDA, so you cannot go wrong). I highly recommend the Caesar salad, creamed spinach, mac and cheese, and oysters (they might be small and lacking the usual condiments, but they are tasty and you might just get more than you ordered). My hubby recently tried the cheese steak sandwich, which was VERY salty, but the fries on the side were perfect. I have tried the surf-and-turf risotto, which was very rich, salty, but an excellent way to enjoy the steak as well as seafood. Even if you're not in the mood for steak and want a salad, the dressing is perfect and the portion size is just right. Carnal has indoor and outdoor seating options and both are great since the street is not too busy and the inside is not too noisy. This spot can be romantic or all business. Enjoy!

Our hostess was super friendly even though only one of us spoke Spanish. We were seated right on time and Enrique our server tag teamed with Patricio (who spoke perfect English) to take amazing care of us. Delicious warm bread with three toppings to start (refilled too). Which was great because the kids were super hungry! Enrique recommended a seared salmon appetizer and a delicious fried avocados and chicken appetizer that were out of this world. We had four different cuts of steak from ribeye to sirloin to spareribs to flank steak and a burger with truffle fries to top it off. Everyone LOVED THEIR FOOD. Seasoned and cooked to perfection. Patricio even explained the four different Chile meat temperatures for us so we knew exactly what to expect. We had a side of gnocchi with pesto cream (best I've ever had, definitely made from scratch) and desserts were chocolate lava cake, profiteroles and crème brûlée. We had an EPIC experience at this magical buzzing steakhouse and we can't wait to come back. Huge kudos to Patricio and Enrique for making our evening so special. We are so grateful.

I ate at the Costanera Mall branch. Mediocre food at best :(…read more I arrived late around 10pm. Bread was not warm nor fresh and bordering on stale. Empanada was very poor. I had empanadas the day before feet away at Tanta and there is nothing to compare. I am a fan os asado de tira....short rib steak ..... I know it is not the softest cut but it doesn't mean it will be a bad plate or experience. Unfortunately I think at Santabrasa Costanera mall they interpret this as a cheap cut, thus there's permission to give you the toughest cut. Seems mine was from bull or old cow. Their steak knives were hardly doing their job. The best part was my avocado and palmito salad. Don't get excited it's plain avocado and palmito plate. But I welcomed it as the flavors were great. The staff was ok. No smiles nor extra mile nor questions. My whole experience was short of expectations. No need for me to be back, there are other very good ones feet away. Prices are not bad but I just did not like the value I got for my meal.

The service was slow and inattentive, and the steak I ordered, the "Buenos Aires cut" was grizzly and fatty. My Espanol is OK, and I ordered the cut medium well, but it came so red I had to send it back to make sure it stopped kicking. (sorry) Flavor of meat, menu selection, and pricing were good. I'll be back to this beautiful part of the world in several weeks and look forward to the plethora of fine dining places when I return.

Open 1230-1600 then 2000-2200. Service: Lots of wait staff who are very attentive. Food: Reliably good. I keep going back for the fillet which is two tender portions of good quality meat. My friends have been getting other cuts/types and they are all good. This is the first place that will actually give me a good rare steak without overselling it. On the downside the meat is just that - sides are extra, and they are mostly potatoes or salads. Not much imagination there. Price: Very good. The fillet is 11.000 and most other dishes are cheaper. The lunch special is always a great deal and more than you can eat.

You definitely will not go away hungry, and the total bill worked out to be about US$40. Definitely a bargain for all of the great food and drinks that we had. Loved it!

Both the exterior and the interior of the restaurant were inviting. The main dining room in the back had a large clear glass viewing window through which we could see the chef & the parilla (barbecue grill). We both ordered the lomo vetado cooked medium. It was cooked & seasoned perfectly with a wonderful smoky flavor. Excellent cut & quality meat. Really delicious! We also ordered a salad to share as a side dish. For dessert we had the flan which was served with a bit of manjar/dulce de leche on the side. The flan was fairly light and creamy & the manjar was very good. Before ordering dessert, we were advised by the server that they were out of the mote con huesillo -- in Chile they usually wait until after you order to tell you they don't have it, so this is really good service for Chile!! They offered a complimentary mint liqueur dessert which looked delicious (we saw them bringing it to other tables) but we passed on it. A complimentary drink is also rare in Chile & indicative of better than normal Chilean customer service! Great food, great service! I will definitely be back!
