Ah, dining in the Time of Covid. I love living in the future (except for the whole pandemic thing)! Oporto will always hold a special place in my heart because it's where the hubs and I spent our first NYE in Chile, complete with a prix fixe menu, delicious drinks, and dancing, which TBH, I don't fully recall thanks to the former.
These days, Oporto, like many other restaurants has completely revamped how the customer dines out via touchless dining: First, you scan the QR code to register as a diner, then, a stationary machine takes your body temperature and dispenses hand sanitizer before you enter the outdoor dining space. At your table, utensils are packaged individually, and even the menu is QR-code-accessible, which led to us spending nearly double what we normally would because we could continually browse the menu for more drinks and extras. I could get used to this, but I'm not sure my wallet could!
For dinner, we had appetizers that included delicious grilled octopus, tuna tartar, and soup, several specialty mixed drinks, and risotto and grilled salmon. Everything was delish, though, as to be expected in Chile, the salmon was a tad salty. So happy to see this place hopping again! read more
