I had an issue with my 2012 Toyota Camry that another mechanic could not troubleshoot. The other mechanic wanted to charge me $95 an hour to "figure it out". I was referred to J & B, made an appointment, and within 15 minutes of walking through the door Marvin had already figured out what the problem was. I didn't have to leave my car there and get a ride home because once diagnosed, they fixed my car on the spot. Actually, they saved me about $4,000 by catching something that would have easily turned into a much bigger problem. I am going back to have my rotors and break pads done as well: )

Everyone knows that finding a good car mechanic is like finding a good plumber or electrician or…read morecarpenter - easy in theory, difficult in practice. You'll end up with a friend of a friend, or that guy your cousin used in 1991 whose rates have tripled, or the guy whose mantra is "don't worry, I got this" So it's with a lot of surprise and pleasure that I report that I finally found a good car mechanic who meets the holy grail of criteria: honest, smart, good people person, nearby, good rates, great front desk. Eric is the mechanic, and he not only knows which way is up on your car (not always a guarantee, trust me), he will explain why it is up and not down and how it might be even more up, in plain English, in a completely understandable way. Not a common skill, believe me. He clearly is all about cars, is a total car person, and I'll be having him do everything I can't do myself from now on. Kristyn is up front and took care of things lickety split. Smiles, laughter, and good vibes great you when you walk in, which also is a pretty rare thing in the scowl-heavy world of mechanics. She's a gem. One last note: the garage is incredibly clean. I have spent a lot of time about cars and mechanics generally and I have seen some stuff in my time, and Eric's garage is by far the cleanest I've ever encountered. No black smudges on the floor, all tools in their rightful place, everything seems color coded or to be in a purposeful place... I was impressed. The real deal, ladies and gentlemen - a really great car shop.

I failed to mention that I arrived slightly early for the appointment, and took time off from work to conduct the business. I would not suggest to any to do business with HG Autoservice in Rockville, Maryland. Time and money wasted and I have to find another place to simply change a fluid from my vehicle. We recently had some minor trouble with our MDX and took it to the dealer. They said the steering fluid was leaking and quoted us $3500 to replace the steering column. We were skeptical, since our car had been relatively low maintenance and not having any signs of trouble prior to this. We always go to Parson for a second opinion, b/c he knows the business and we can trust him. He said there was a very small leak and that replacing the steering column was not necessary. It also did not have anything to do with the reason why the car was having issues. He fixed the car and recommended watching it and if it gets worse, then we should go back. He's a gem!

Just read my other reviews!! Juan Carlos is my Epic Auto Specialist technician and I only trust his professional assessment of my car. I reside in Arlington, VA and will make drive out to Gaithersburg, MD because it's not worth being taken of advantage of. The techs at Epic confirmed my hunch and saved me $$$ from unnecessary repairs. This shop is honest, dependable and accommodating. It's also very clean and comfortable while you wait for your car to be serviced. If I could give them 10 stars I certainly would.

I had an unfortunate accident with my car (vw jetta gli) where the parking brake was not engaged…read morefully so the car rolled down my driveway and collided with a tree. This left damage to my front bumper, driver's side fender, and driver's side fog light. AK automotive gave me the best estimate compared to another body shop next door. When I entered, the owner greeted me and treated me with kindness and respect. He accompanied his technician and I to see my car and evaluate the damage which I appreciated. The sheet he provided which summarized my estimate was very straightforward, clearly outlining what I would be charged for in parts paint and labor. The other shop gave me a several page long estimate full of convoluted terms and charges. AK Automotive gave me no fine print charges just clear honest business! I dropped my car off the same day and they had it done two days later! They replaced my front bumper and driver's side fender, replaced my fog light, and painted my front bumper, driver's side fender, and door. The paint job is a perfect match! My car looks brand new as they also gave it a nice wash! They charged me exactly what the estimate stated. They also ended up not needing a part for the repair so they deducted the price of that part from my total. I could not be more satisfied with my experience with AK Automotive. The owner seems to take pride in his business and gives fair and honest pricing for services. The technicians are professional and knowledgeable and answered all of my questions (i had many). I hope to not need car repairs anytime soon, but I will certainly do business with AK automotive in the future if I do need them. I would absolutely recommend this business to anyone! Thank you!

THE GOOD: The work done for my bumper was phenomenal! Didn't even look like there was any damage…read moredone to it. The paint was matched perfectly and there were no signs of any holes or damages. Couldn't have been happier. I'd definitely recommend bringing anything body-work related to this shop. They have the best prices and the turn around time was quick. THE BAD: This might not be bad if you have a lot of money and aren't cheap like me but I was quoted for $340 over the phone and then when I brought the car in they said it would cost me $420... I didn't like that they switched the price up on me like that but it was still cheaper than any other place I went to so I accepted the $420. When I went to pick my car up, I went to their Yelp page where I initially saw their great reviews and saw that they had a 20% off coupon if you checked in at their shop. I checked in and received the 20% coupon from Yelp. When I presented it to the owner, he stated because I didn't spend over $2500, he won't give me the 20%. I told him, they should specify that on the coupon so people don't get confused. He continued to state if I had spent more money at his shop then they would honor the 20%.... What? lol. So I was able to convince him to give me a 10% off coupon instead which is still good I guess. Got $40 off instead of $80 so my total was $380 but still... Its the principle of honoring your own coupons. Anyways, they would've received 5 starts if they honored their initial over-the-phone price as well as the coupon. There work is still great though!
