I got a response from Mark on 05/11/24, and we talked on the phone for over 5 minutes to discuss the location of the house, the best time to do the inspection, and the prices. He was patient as I asked many questions, and I never felt rushed. We decided to the home inspection on 05/13/24. On 05/12/24, it rained very hard, and I was concerned about the new house since it is located next to a drainage system. Fortunately, Mark was doing another home inspection in the area and dropped by to take some pictures for me, mind you, I did not even ask him to do so. He just thought it was a good idea to do so since he was in the area. He sent pictures and confirmed that the basement was not affected. I appreciate this so much as it gives me a peace of mind. On 05/13/24 Mark, my realtor, and I went to the house for the home inspection. Mark is very thorough and meticulous with everything. He took his time to explain everything to me and answered all my questions. He even spent around 5 minutes on the roof to ensure there is no problem with it. He also did the radon test for me. I am extremely satisfied with the services provided by Mark. I highly recommend him.

At the outset, the situation was a bit unusual. We are renting this home with an option to…read morepurchase. So we wanted an inspection to know if there was any pressing issues with the home before we made a decision on the option. So we didn't want a typical home sale inspection, nor is this review reflective of that type of service. Let's start with the good. This company is very easy to communicate with. They are responsive and easy to reach out to. Joseph (who conducted the inspection) is also very personable. He did a thorough review of the home and even gave us some thoughts on how we might re-design, paint or structure the rooms in our house. Finally, the price was great, He understood the unique needs of my situation and adjusted it to a reasonable rate. My big issue came after the inspection. I negotiated the receipt of a report prior to the inspection as the landlord would need a copy. I had to continuously follow up on this after the inspection and then ask him to add issues he identified that I had written in my own notes but were not included in the report. Although I finally got a report, it took a lot of effort on my end to receive it (and it was a bit less comprehensive than I hoped for).

John answered every single question I asked him and took time to educate me about the home, why certain things were built the way they were, how to properly care for it and the lifespan of the products. Arrived at 10am and we left around 2:30pm. Absolutely no worry though, when he was noting that the a convector in my unit had a slightly dysfunctional door latch, I knew I had found the right guy for the job. When my wife and I bought a home in Charlottesville, we called John right away. Spending the day with him during the inspection was like taking a master class in home ownership - a masterclass about owning *this* particular house. If a house were a person, John's home inspections would be slightly more invasive than a colonoscopy (minus the nasty bowel prep and twilight sedation hangover). John is THOROUGH without being melodramatic about issues found: he calmly notes areas of concern without going all chicken-little-the-sky-is-falling.
