I was very impressed by RTI, highly recommended. They came out to replace some rotten beams and put down a new footing at the bottom of a complicated three-tiered deck. They discovered more issues once they started, but TJ (one of the owners) was very up front and honest about the new findings. It ended up being a lot more work but he was transparent about everything and kept us in the loop. His crew was great too. Jonah and the others worked hard, were professional, timely, and efficient. I am so impressed with this company and every single person that I interacted with! I knew what the material would cost and their quote was by far the most reasonable, they clearly charged me time and materials and didn't try to add unnecessary expenses. Their workmanship and attention to detail are amazing, as an engineer that is so important to me. The owner is a talented designer; my project was not trivial. The deck is 950 sq ft with four sets of stairs, three double gates, and an ADA compliant ramp. When the home-made sun room turned out to be rotten they removed it and designed a new one. The implementation of that demonstrated true innovation; again, so very happy with the results! They responded promptly to my questions and addressed any concerns. TJ and team are hands down the best. I wish all contractors were like this. After a quick stop by to gather my vision, and do some measurements we went to TJs truck to talk material and colors. He let me take the samples around back and take a bunch of photos so I could mull it over. I secured the time slot for install and everything happened as planned. Material was delivered exact day he said it would be and he even gave me a heads up text it was on the way. They started the next day and were so in sync working that not once did I question if what I wanted was happening. There were a couple times I was called out for decisions on plants, which I greatly appreciated as I wanted to cut as little back as possible. We enlisted RTIs help to both save and finish building our elevated deck. A bit of history, we began the deck with a different contractor, but it immediately became clear they weren't qualified to do the work (not up to code, amateur craftsmanship, unprofessional). After researching for quite some time we decided on RTI. TJ came to our home, saw the improperly built deck frame, and came up with a plan to rescue it, including bringing in special equipment to shore up the frame, cut perfect squares in our concrete pad to remove the old footings and pour correct footings. (They even matched the texture and score lines in the patio cement pad.) TJ answered every question I had obviously with wisdom and experience. He was in no rush, he was going to be there as long as I still had questions (and I had many!). He even got into permit measurements and construction methods, forwarded the city's official build codes to me, and created a 3D model of exactly what we could expect if we enlisted their services. The pricing was extremely fair, and so we did go with them! In terms of the construction experience, RTI is a class act, both in terms of craftsmanship and professionalism. I'm an extremely detail oriented individual, a 3D designer by trade, and their work exceeded my expectations. Each cut, every screw, bracket, post and beam, was absolute perfection. RTI's estimate was prompt, accurate, and limited to what I asked them to do, rather than what they hoped they could convince me to pay for. I was more interested in cost than aesthetics, and left the design decisions to RTI so long as they incorporated my "must haves" and met my price; RTI listened to everything I asked for, kept the project within my budget, and the end result is very beautiful and truly compliments the house. TL;DR Great result and friendly people. We had RTI Services put in an epoxy floor in the 2.5-car garage of a house. We had to do the extra moisture barrier treatment because of the high moisture seepage from below the slab. They had to come out an extra day because our concrete was harder than normal (they said it probably had some kind of sealing coat put in or on that the builder didn't tell us about). But they were always courteous and professional about all the little issues that came up and worked with us to get things done. The floor looks great too. read more

I'm a tenant in a shared house with 8 roommates. We are used to having sub-par work done and having to re-request fixes, etc, etc. Needless to say, we were blown away by these guys. The level of quality and craftsmanship was far above anything we've ever had before, and the professionalism with which they went about the work left us with nothing but positive impressions. The work was on our deck which is partially under cover. They were hired on to resurface and waterproof the deck because water had begun to leak into the basement living space directly below. However, when work began the project immediately tripled in scope: the entire surface was rotted plywood, in some place 4 inches thick. If this surprise caused them any frustration or hardship, it was not evident to us. They simply re-calibrated and fit us in between the other jobs they had going: it caused some understandable delays here and there, but what can you expect from such circumstances? The deck surface had previously been more-or-less level, which means that drainage would not happen correctly. They constructed joists which altered the resulting surface to be raked at a slight angle so that rain water would drain properly once the waterproofing surface was applied. We previously had to deal with sweeping puddles of water off the deck, as it would pool in a certain corner whenever it rained. They also rebuild the siding where the damage had crept in, and provided sound advice and warning to our landlord in a corner spot where the damage was not able to be addressed within the scope. The precision, knowledge, and pride they take in a job well done in clearly evident. I would recommend highly. read more

RTI did an excellent job in late September 2020 of recoating four of our decks and our three exterior stair landings, and painting the fascias, at our condos on Whitman Ave. N. in Fremont. As we did not have a record of the product that was last used to coat our decks and landings, TJ Jensen was very careful to first test for compatibility of the new product. TJ was very professional and communicative. The job was completed on time, not easy at a time of limited availability of contractors for such small projects. These guys know their business. The short and the long of it: TJ and Ian were super courteous, professional, clean, skilled, thorough and fairly priced. I'd recommend them again without reservation. I want them to come back and do more work for us just because they were nice to have around! The long version: We had an area of our deck that had been leaking (into our garage) for a while. I wanted someone who could come out before the heavy rains and do a quick fix, but do it so that they could come back and do it right later. RTI came out quickly and knocked out the leaking area in hours. Very affordable, too. Once the weather warmed up, Randy and TJ came out to scope out the full project (water proof some posts, fill and re-slope where water was pooling, deal with rot and redo the deck coating). Compared to other folks I had to bid on the project, it was quickly obvious that these guys knew exactly what they were talking about. We knew that there were some "known unknowns" in the project, but TJ was awesome at bringing up issues right away and was very pragmatic about how to solve them while staying within budget. We've had several rains since the completion of the project and I am happy to report that everything is working the way it should: water is no longer pooling on the deck and we have no leaks into the garage or anywhere else.
