Seems to me that it was more of a skim coat. . He did come by and look at it and said it was from plowing. Yes, there may have been a couple of plow scrapes but many sections peeled and wore off to the original pavement. The walkway does not get plowed and it's already worn down. I have had my driveway done many times and usually get 2-3 years before a reseal. A nice guy but a poor job. also, a neighbor up the street got a reseal around the same time and thiers still looks awesome. I guess I'll go with their guy next time. Please do not hire this company. They start at a reasonable price then find all kinds of things…read morewrong and the price keep going up and up. They pressure you to sign a contract for the work and the work is subpar. It does not meet code or professional workmanship. They sat in my house for couple of hours until i signed despite the fact that i told them i had to check with my attorney and would let them know in the morning. They refused to leave. I should have called the police right then and there. I did contact the police later that week when i saw the results of the job. I also checked with city hall to see if they had pulled a permit as I was told by them that they had the inspector coming next week. This was after they finished the job and wanted payment. Lo and behold city hall said no permit was pulled and no inspection was ordered. Their names are Freddie and Matthew. The work was done by 2 gentlemen who do not speak English. I will be taking legal action on this matter to recoup what i paid since I have to have all the work completely redone and it has comprised the integrity of our 4 season room. I also just recently lost my husband and they preyed on that. Unfortunately, i was scammed. I repeat, do not use them.

It is long but you will see shy he saved us from the very reak threat of a chimney fire.... My wife and I had him come out to clean our fireplace because a bit of smoke was coming back in when we were burning. After a quick 10 minutes, I could tell how knowledgeable he was. I asked him to take a look at the chimney from top down and tell us what he thought since we know we're gonna be in this house for at least 20 years. I also had lingering feelings the work done by prior sweeps was not adequate. He showed me what he found and answered every question I had: -outside top chimney needed some re-pointing on the bricks. -concrete wash on top had some cracks needing to be patched -concrete around brick at the base of chimney needed to be replaced. The concrete was the incorrect kind and was breaking down the brick overtime instead of reinforcing it. Through throughout all of this, he was also taking pictures to show me what I couldn't see such as when he was up on the roof with the gaps in the brick mortar. He then gave us an incredibly fair price for each of these items and laid out what his priority would be. We ended up having him do all of the work. He showed up on time, worked hard, cleaned afterward. Unfortunately, we still had an issue where some smoke was coming in. He came back the next day and took another look..... If you are not familiar... chimney sweeps clean from the bottom usually. So there didn't seem to be any need to look from the top. However, when took things off, he saw a level 3 creosote buildup. THIS IS THE STUFF THAT BURNS HOUSE DOWN. He removed it. ********* He saved our house and here's why...... We've been in this house for eight years, had two other chimney sweeps who created half of the problems he had to fix: 1) previous sweep repointed the chimney poorly and didn't seal it. Within 3 years, mortar was bbreaking up. 2) the cement around the base of the chimney that was the wrong kind --- put on by another sweep. This wrong kind of cemnent- $15 /bag/. The right kind William used, $50/ bag. I doublecheced all of this and he was correct. 3) before our buying the houyse, a line was put into the entire chimney, EXCEPT THE TOP 4 FEET. This is where the creosote kept building up and building up. It was such a siolid mass, William thought from the bottom he had reached the damper. It is such a relief to know we now have a safe chimney. And it is so frustrating those other sweeps did such shoddy work. William Britt should be the only chimney sweep you ever go to.

The estimates were ridiculously high. Will Britt, on the other hand, come out quickly and promptly removed the nest, cleaned the flue, and showed me pictures of the flue, all in about an hour and a half. His fee was more than reasonable. I only wish I had found him sooner and called him first.

Poor execution of the job. And Nobody to talk to, just voicemail and 2 days delay responses. Don't go for the low ball estimates with hidden surcharges!! We have had Chuck's…read morecompany install irrigation on a 1 acre lot and at the same time create a landscape for the front yard which included a huge field stone rock wall; a year later, they returned to install a rather large brick patio which incorporated large slabs of granite, laid granite curbing, and created beds where they planted three trees around the newly laid patio. First and foremost, Chuck and his crew are always polite, respectful and patient with their clients needs and desires. They listen and offer great advice when it's needed. Chuck came to us with an amazing design for our front yard, but when we realized we didn't have quite enough money to do the entire job, he reworked the whole plan to accommodate our wishes and our budget. Second, they keep the work site neat, orderly, and clean as expected--even with all the dirt, gravel, brick dust, they did their best to keep it away and off the house. Big plus, they don't leave a single piece of trash behind. Anyone who has built a house knows builders tend to leave bits of trash everywhere. Not Nessralla's! Third, their work is impeccable! They laid thousands (!) of Boston City Hall pavers on our patio. At one point, I saw them pick up and reposition a huge section because the "line wasn't quite right." They even came back and popped some of the granite sections to realign them because Chuck didn't want anyone to stub a toe! The landscaping material they brought us was above expectations. Our trees and shrubs are over a year old and they are in excellent health. Even several weeks after Chuck finished the 1st job last August, we caught him "checking" on the plants and grass periodically. Next year we plant to expand our landscape and the only crew we will have in our yard is Nessralla. Chuck and his crew ALWAYS go above and beyond.

I had several other companies come out to the house to offer a price quote and get some ideas but decided to go with Nessralla's. Chuck Nessralla, the owner, pointed out several ways I could cut back on the original company's price quote while still accomplishing what I wanted to have done. In the end, the price he gave me was significantly cheaper and even included a walkway and patio that was not in the other company's quote. I was a little nervous that the decrease in price would mean a decrease in quality, but nothing could be worse than what I had already gone through. To say my apprehension was unwarranted would be a huge understatement. Nessralla's installed a new lawn, an irrigation system, a patio, a walkway, and a beautiful planting all in under two weeks. The attention to detail was amazing, I am happy to say that I now have the best looking yard on the street. What really impressed me about this company was the fact that Chuck was there every step of the way. He personally graded the property, set up the foundation for the patio and walkway, designed the planting, and could be found on the job every day his workers were there. I paid to have my parent's house landscaped several years ago and cannot remember seeing the owner on site ounce after our initial meeting. One month later and the lawn looks like a carpet, all of my plants are healthy but are even covered under a warranty in case one of them does not make it. I could not recommend Nessralla's Landscape enough. If I ever decide to move again they will be the only company I call.

Until this year, we had nothing but positive things to say. Unfortunately, our most recent experience was completely unacceptable and has left us extremely disappointed. When we called to order mulch, we were told the credit card machine was down, so we couldn't pay over the phone. We were informed that paying the driver upon delivery was an option. We were also told the mulch would be delivered the following afternoon and that the driver would call before arriving. I stayed home all day waiting for the delivery. At 4:20 p.m., I had to leave briefly to pick up my child from daycare for a 4:30 pickup. Shortly after, I received a call from Nelson Landscape stating the mulch had already been delivered. The employee who called was rude, disrespectful, and immediately demanded payment. They insisted I had been told delivery would occur between 4:00 and 5:00 p.m., which was never communicated to me. Had I been given that information, I would have made other arrangements. When I asked if I could provide my credit card over the phone, I was told no one was in the office to take payment. I then asked if I could simply call back the next day to pay by credit card. Instead of receiving a reasonable response, the employee said, "Whatever, I don't have time to deal with this," and hung up on me. After years of being a consistent, reliable customer, this level of customer service was shocking. The interaction was disrespectful, unprofessional, and completely unacceptable. We understand that mistakes and miscommunications happen, but there is never an excuse for treating loyal customers this way. Given the way I was spoken to and the complete lack of professionalism shown during this interaction, we can no longer support this company. It's incredibly disappointing that after years of loyalty, one employee's disrespectful behavior has completely changed our opinion of a business we once trusted and happily recommended.

The gentleman showed up when he said he would, which was great that I didn't have to waster 2 hours in traffic for nothing. However, the oddness ensued quickly. Every time I showed him a part of the basement, he'd say "Great. I'll take a look and find you if I have any questions" but his "inspections" would only take 2 minutes. So, we'd walk to the next part of the basement, he'd say he'd let me know when he was done, then I'd wait a minute or two and then proceed to the next section. (I swear I'm not making this up.) It was really odd. After his inspection, I said "what do you think?" He said they don't really do much with fieldstone foundations (which would have been very beneficial to tell me over the phone) but that he was going to talk with his boss and that I shouldn't worry because they wouldn't "leave me high and dry" (no pun intended.) He then excused himself once again to call someone and then a few minutes later comes back to tell me there isn't really anything they can do and we should contact someone who specializes in fieldstone foundation repair and then leaves. I don't know how long I scratched my head after that encounter. Drycrete might be a magnificent company to do business with and their work might be first rate but, from my single encounter with them, I was not remotely impressed and it was a grand waste of my time.

That turned out to be a good thing because we then contacted Marchetti Masonry purely by chance from online search. John replied my call the next day and came in person to gave us a very reasonable estimate and explained everything clearly to us. He was pleasant to talk to and gave use good advice without pressuring us for anything. After we decided to use him to rebuild the chimney, we waited for a nice weather without having to schedule the work well in advance. Though sometimes it was hard to find him because he was too busy with many projects, he always responded to our voice mail. Today they finally finished my chimney after working on it for the last two days and I was very impressed by the new chimney. They tried to use the old bricks so to preserve the original style of the house. This also reduced the total cost of the project significantly. John and his assistant Andrew did all the work by themselves without subcontractors so you know exactly who is doing the work without the cost of middleman. They set up the scaffolding carefully using cloth padding between the platform and the roof to protect the roof and didn't use a single nail on the roof. After finishing the job, they cleaned up everything and left everything in its original condition. We are very pleased with their work and decided to ask them to repoint the other chimney on our house next week. I don't think I need to look for another mason in the future.

I was a new homeowner and very naive when I hired Brett to remodel my bathroom, and he knew that…read moreand took advantage of it every chance he got. Looking back now, I can't believe I let him get away with all this. But it's terrible that he thought it was okay to do all these things to someone. The shower that he built and tiled had cracking grout and pooling of water which started within a week of job completion. He hadn't even seen the problems yet and he already started getting defensive and saying that I should have to pay to fix it. He blamed the materials (the tile) and said it was my fault for choosing them. Rather than paying him to tear out the uneven floor tile and re-install it (because he was already way over budget) I had to live with pooling water in my shower. He botched the original estimate (by more than 40%) by not looking under the sink to see that the plumbing would have to be re-done in order to meet current code. He charged me to re-do the vent when that wasn't done to code. When he picked up the tile, he didn't verify that he picked up everything and some of the items were missing. I had to buy some a second time - he wouldn't pay for it even though it was his fault. He quoted me for replacing the closet wall, later decided it wasn't necessary, and wouldn't remove the cost from the quote. He got very aggressive and offensive (saying things like "I didn't buy this dump") and said I was "nickel and diming him" by asking to not be charged for work he didn't do. He took 3 months to finish the job when he originally said it would take 3 weeks, and the whole time I couldn't live there and had to find somewhere else to live. He even took vacation before the job was complete so the job had to be put on hold even longer. He botched the permit (got the address wrong) and I had to fix it. He said it would take him much longer than me since he wasn't the homeowner, even though the permit was pulled in his name. He specifically said I didn't need to put down drop cloths outside the bathroom where he was working because he wouldn't cause much of a mess and that he would clean up after himself. It took me three days to clean my entire home because plaster dust was EVERYWHERE. He gave an incorrect estimate of the tile needed which ended up costing me $1000 more than I expected to pay for tile. He didn't know the latest code. He didn't know to use sanded grout for grout lines wider than 1/8". He had never seen a bowed curtain rod before and installed it sideways (bow facing down), then filled in the holes in the tiles from the incorrect hanging with caulking rather than replacing the tiles. He installed the towel rod crooked and, rather than try to fix it, explained to me how he leveled the mounting brackets so it had to be a defective towel rod. If he spent half as much time fixing his mistakes instead of making excuses for them, customers like me would have better things to say about him. He had excuses for everything - he could never admit fault even when things were blatantly his fault, like the grout cracking. Stay away from this guy! Working with him is a nightmare.

Brett Burns re-did our roof (Aug 2011) --removed two layers of old shingles, fixed a sag in the…read moreroof, and solved a leak problem around one of the vents. We got three estimates from other roofers/contractors recommended to us by friends, but we went with Brett because his estimate was the lowest. Brett was a pleasure to work with; he is very polite, responsive, and reliable. His work was completed ahead of schedule and cost us exactly what he quoted. Tropical storm Irene hit right afterwards and his work passed the test--no leaking at all. We are overall very happy with Burns Home Improvement and would recommend him. However, I do have one piece of constructive feedback (it's a long explanation, sorry). After the job was done, we noticed there was water on the fascia boards, which is not ideal because it can lead to wood rot and ice damming. This happens because there was open space between our gutters and the fascia boards. Our roof work did not include any gutter work; Brett was upfront about it and there was no misunderstanding here. However, as new homeowners, we didn't understand the implications of not working on the gutters at the time of our roof work. What we needed was an expert opinion from our contractor (there needed to be some caulking between the gutter and fascia boards to seal the gap and prevent water damage). Had we received this recommendation upfront, we probably would have paid Brett to do this extra bit of work. We figured all this out after the fact on our own. To his credit, when I called Brett weeks after the job was finished to ask about this, he was still responsive and answered my questions, which I appreciated.
