I recently received a perm at royal salon. The perm was good but I felt Rita was dishonest to me. I called ahead to ask how much a perm would be for short hair and she said around 165$. Then when she was done she charged me 224$. She said it cost more because she also had to cut my hair after the perm. All she did was cut it. She did not blow dry it or curl it. All the perms I have ever had which dates back 40 years the cut has always been included in the price. I will not be going back to her to to dishonest pricing she gave me. read more

Rita should be put out of business. She destroyed my hair and has no skill as a hair stylist whatsoever. She's too busy talking to pay attention to her work, and it seemed like I knew more about the process than she did. She messed up my hair so bad, both cut and color, charged me $500, and I had to immediately go to a new salon to chop off most of my hair & fix the color. That cost $400. Rita REFUSED to work with me and refused to refund any of my money. I don't know how she is possibly still in business but all I can say is I wish I read reviews first- so if you're reading this, STAY AWAY! Such a disappointment! $461 later.... Because of the great reviews, I didn't question the individual charges. I went to have my hair highlighted & cut. Rita told me I should cover the gray, so she colored as well. Also stated that my hair was dry & I could use a moisture mask. $135? for Highlights $125 for Color $45 for Moisture Mask $60 for cut & light blow dry (not styled) $77 for Shampoo & Conditioner she recommended. Still doesn't add up to $461, but maybe taxes? (tipped separately) I was horrified! I thought she would combine the highlights & color since the color only took a few minutes more since I was already in foils. Came home & found products cheaper by 25% online, so called & asked to return shampoo & conditioner. Was told no problem. Because I was sick, I didn't get around to returning for 9 days---she let me know THEN that she could only credit me back if returned in 7 days (didn't tell me this before) & would have to give me store credit. Nope---not doing that. She is nice, but she is very sure she is right. Told me my shampoo was drying and to quit using (I got this from a Master Stylist in a 5 Star location in Scottsdale). I feel I was robbed and I just went along with it. Shocked by her reviews. She seems to know what she is doing, but I have gone to Stylist who were much more cutting edge & paid a whole lot less! And yes, she is very opinionated & will decide what she wants to do to your hair---I wanted mine shorter in back and more textured, she didn't do it. Please take these reviews seriously!! I gave Rita a chance at being my stylist and after 4 appointments over the past year and a half, I'm going to cut her loose. I've had haircuts and color from her and honestly, for the price she charges I expect much better. this past visit I showed her a picture of how my old stylist produced high and low lighted my hair that I loved. she glanced at it and told me she knew what to do. Her highlights turned out white. She didn't use toner and I now look like I am greying. I hate it. $400 for hi and lo lights plus cut down the drain. I have to agree with the other comments on here. she's too busy talking and doesn't listen to you. i like an inverted bob. long at the front and shorter in the back. I've even showed pictures of what I wanted. 2 months ago she gave me a cut that left me with long strands at the front that did not blend in with the rest of my cut. I looked like an Hasidic Jewish man, that's how bad it was. I was shocked. I walked out, went home and cut them off. why I went to her this past week I don't know. I asked for the same cut and she gave me a classic cut....all one length around my head. I now have chin length hair.... it's like she listens but then does her own thing. she does like to sell you her shampoo etc, and now she's on a kick to sell the hairdryer that is also a round brush. She started to use this new device on me then handed it to me to try out on my own. She then took out her phone to text. Really? $85 up front deposit for hair color is needed to secure a spot. I've never had to do this anywhere else. I'm sure if you want a basic cut, she will be fine but she's lost a customer here. Rita DESTROYED my hair. I've shown up there every day to get my $115 back. I went in for a haircut and asked if my ends were healthy enough to add some blonde on the bottom. $115 later I get out of tye shower and my hair is SO DAMAGED IT KINKED UP AND BROKE OFF like rubber. I cried. I can't brush or blow-dry my hair it's SO damaged. It looks like straw when dry!!! The only response i got was ill give you a deep conditioning treatment! Wtf??? You shouldn't have fried it in the first place!! I went to J Salon by my house to cut off the rest of my hair bec it's so bad. While stylist Rita was nice,I felt she was dishonest with her knowledge with the type of cut I requested and over charged for a wash and style. I have not posted a pic because I am that unhappy with the cut I received. I had long hair and took 3inches off and did not get the proper Wolf Cut I requested because "Wolf Cuts really can't be achieved with long hair". Which I know to be false,I had one years ago,before the wolf cut even existed. She also did not even use a heat protectant before she used hot tool for styling. VERY OVERPRICED. Rita left my hair looking like garbage. After having my hair highlighted professionally for 10 years, I could have done a better job blindfolded at home with a box of hair color from the dollar store!! Please see the photo of how Rita did my hair. Even when I showed her a photo again at home and told her I was crying about how it looked, she defended her work and said that it was the "style" and I had to get use to it and wash it a few times. She did not care how I felt about my hair and never asked to fix it, though I would never let her touch my hair again. Absolutely disgusted. Beware. Rita permed my hair in the 29th of July, it is now the 21st of August and there is no perm left. she also cut the back of my hair after asking me if liked my style. I asked her to just trim the neck hairs which is pretty standard when you perm. She cut the back of my hair and it was disgusting. On top of all this she charged me $175.00. i get a perm every 3 to 4 months and pay half and its lasts. Beware! read more

Rita is awesome. Every time I go in, I can trust her skills and know that I'll get my money's worth. I've had hair cuts, perms, and had her dye my hair bright colors MANY times now. Turns out wonderful every time. Some people I know have tried to do bright colors after seeing mine but their hair dressers ended up frying their hair or just didn't turn out right. Sure, you end up paying more than you would at Fantastic Sams or other salons, but I keep going back to her because I am guaranteed to feel amazing when I leave...every time. I have had my hair bleached twice and dyed multiple times in the past year but my hair still feels and looks as good as it did when I didn't chemically treat my hair ever. Damaging my hair was my biggest fear but Rita is VERY careful about that. Rita has been doing hair for 20+ years and she stays up to date with current style. She is so sweet, she took time to teach me how to curl my hair and style it. TRUST the people that keep going back to her for YEARS. If you can't afford her, don't go...simple as that. I went in to Royal Salon as a walk-in. Now I am very picky with who does my hair from previous experiences. I had a special dinner happening that night and Rita asked me to wait about 15 minutes as she was almost done with her client. She got me in right away!! I wanted a change to my hair as i have been plain jane for a while. Rita was very sweet and talked me through everything! Positives: It was my first time, I found this salon just by googling nearby hair salons because I badly needed a haircut. Rita sounded very nice and was willing to take me in the next day. She sent a message following up and confirming on the day of the appointment. She was as easy to talk to and is good at what she does - at least for the service that I needed - haircut with style. Negatives: For the 2 opportunities of corresponding with Rita prior the appointment and even during her service,she did not mention about cash payment for first time clients. She want ahead wash, cut hair, all throughout the appointment she was trying to sell more services and products. I agreed to a deep moisturizing at $20 at which she said she was running specials (regular at $30+). She was selling shampoo and conditioner too, which in my mind - I would need anyways so although expensive (price was $24 each, $48 total for shampoo and cond), okay I will buy. After the haircut and I asked how much total and giving her my credit card which I use in my day to day transactions, she said it is the building's/studio policy not to accept credit card for first time clients. I said I don't carry cash and you did not tell me beforehand, and she responded that she was not sure she mentioned it to me and told me that the nearest ATM is just a short 1min walk and she would deduct the $3.50 ATM charge on my next appointment with her. I said I don't like that she was not upfront and I personally avoid using ATMs unless it's at my bank. And she reiterated the building's policy. To sum up the charges, $45 for haircut and I wasn't told as well she was charging for "haircut style" at $20 and the $20 deep moisturizing and the $48 products for a total of $133 (without products taxes). I felt angry and duped, so I said I am not getting your products anymore, and she asked why and I told her because I am mad that she kind of duped me. I am not sure, probably she didn't meet her quota that day, she just wanted to take more money and in cash. But what I am not happy about is her pure dishonesty. If the building policy was true, she purposedly did not mention about cash payment until after the fact that you cannot have a choice than to pay her. She may be a good haircutter but I ca n not trust people like her. There are a lot of haircutters/stylish better than her somewhere. Hard lesson for me, but I can't deal with crooks like her. I went to Rita because she was close to my house but it turned out to be a terrible idea!! I had talked to her a few days prior to me coming in for my appointment and I had told her that I wanted balayage. She said no problem. She told me that she had done balayage numerous times and she knew what she was doing. Well balayage was not what I had gotten. All she did was color my hair from a bottle. I had no depth or anything. When I went into a trusted hair salon, it took 2 visits to get the correct color. I strongly advise against going to Rita. She is very expensive, pushes her expensive shampoo/conditioner and does not back her work!!! I've tried texting her for over a month and have not received a response. I had a horrible experience here. Went in for color, highlights and cut. Showed her a picture of exactly what I wanted. The color, instead of dark brown with platinum highlights, came out orange with yellow highlights. I almost cried when I saw it. She was going to have me come back later in the week to fix it but I told her I wasn't going to work looking like a traffic light and I insisted she fix it right then and there. The second time around she did what I actually wanted, instead of what she thought I should have, but by then she couldn't do the partial highlights I had asked for and just ended up foiling some of the previous ones. But the cut... it's awful. Doesn't look a thing like the picture. Instead of subtle framing layers, she cut two distinct layers and it looks like I have a wig on top of my haircut. She used the blunt scissors so the ends of the layers are now frayed and stick out. On top of that, she told me at the beginning she would be giving me a nice conditioning treatment for first clients, but didn't mention that she was charging me an extra $35 for it. I went in at 4PM and left at 9PM.... 5 hours of my life I will never get back. Because of how long it took, my phone battery died, so she refused to give the 20% coupon listed on her website unless I could pull it up on a phone . She was also going to charge me for the full highlights (I asked for partial, she didn't listen) as well as the overall color, until I told her I wasn't paying for her to fix her own mistake. All in all, $300 and 5 hours later, I have a botched haircut and a color I didn't ask for. I made an appointment with a reputable salon to fix this mess. On top of that, because she just wouldn't stop blabbing the ENTIRE time, sounding like a teenager with "like" and "as if" I left with a huge headache.
