Three employees were sitting down chatting away while I waited for my appt. I went because i wanted to cut my hair into a long bob but my consultation specialist looked at my hair and said my hair was fried. There was nothing he could do, I was so confused. I said, I'm not here to dye my hair. I'm here for a haircut. He said, I know. You need keratin and once your hair gets healthy I could try. Out of curiosity I asked, if I get my hair back to "healthy " again. I asked who he would recommend and he said nobody here. I was shocked and to be honest, I was so over the consultation that I awkwardly laughed and promised him I'd be back. He could honestly care less. I wasn't too irritated because it smelled like hard boiled eggs or broccoli in there. Not to mention, The older woman at the front desk was hella grumpy as well. I have curlier hair and it's been a struggle over the years, to the point I started trimming it on my own. At this point, I just wanted a pick-me-up from a professional. She did just that, and more. I was super anxious walking in, and she just put me at ease. She was gentle, considerate, and professional. She didnt rip my earrings out with her comb, she didnt cut off more than I asked, and she really cared about me as a person. The game changer for me was that she actually offered to style my hair curly/natural. I have never in my life been offered to have my hair styled naturally. In the past it's either been a blow out, or just leave with it wet, no other options. However, Shamika asked what kind of styling I preferred, if any, and she even educated me, in a thoughtful way, on what the best products are for my hair. Shes as good with hair as sge is kind and friendly. She knows the latest trends, doesnt take forever, is very inexpensive ($26 For the first cut!) I went to her because i had just gone to a different older lady who gave me an old school outdated hair cut. Yuck. Less than 10 minutes and Paige had added beautiful layers and made me look amazing. Just moved here and have found my new stylist! I came with my 2 kids and she seemed delighted they were there. Monday I get a phone call maybe 10 minutes into my appointment time and I asked "Did you check your voicemail?" Then I was informed with an attitude that they do not work on Sundays. I am sorry that the universe allows emergencies to occur between Sundays and Mondays. Life happens! Then after I hang up they had the audacity to send me an invoice for $50 that WILL not be paid. Even prior to my 1st appointment I had to "pre-pay" which I have never done, not even at high end salons. I can understand if I was a "repeat offender" but just like attorneys, dentists and doctors there are salons everywhere. What a way to keep your client base!!! I do not even do this if a patient does not show up for an appointment at my office. Again, consider the situation?? They didn't ask about the situation it was all about the money. If a repeat offender of course I get it but things happen in life that take more important precedence than a haircut appointment.
