Food: 5/5 Service: 3.5/5…read more I decided to visit the restaurant because it's not far from my hotel near the ExCel area and it was also on the Michelin recommended list. The food was fantastic. I ordered 2 small plates to start: the lamb samosas and the Gressingham Duck tikka, which was on their seasonal special menu. The samosas were light and the lamb filling was flavorful and spiced perfectly. You can taste the lamb and the Indian spices used in making the dish. The chutney / sauce that accompanied the dish provided a nice sweet and sour foil to the spiced lamb filling. It was divine. The Duck tikka was more heavily spiced but in a good way. The vermicelli like noodles on which the Duck rested were delicious, as well as the Duck. The savory notes worked in tandem with the little bit of garlic that was in the sauce of the vermicelli, which was awesome. The lamb main dish had such a deep flavor and it didn't disappoint as a main dish with the curry sauce. The apple samosa was the perfect ending to the meal. The apple filling was elevated by the nutmeg and the cardamom. The house made apricot toffee ice cream was creamy and smooth. It wasn't overly sweet and worked in perfect harmony with the apple samosa. The service could be improved (I waited by the host stand for about 3-5 minutes before someone saw me from the kitchen and grabbed the host. I was the only one in the restaurant at the time (18:10). I was presented with the choice between sparkling water and still water and picked sparkling, but was then told it only came in big bottles, and so I asked for regular water. However, he never came back with the water and took my water glass, in fact. Another server checked on me, which was nice. Also, the owners came out and checked on my food and talked to me for a little bit as well, which was nice. Other than the missteps in the beginning, I would say this was an overall good experience). The restaurant is lovely and is located by the water. I had a great view to the sunset as I enjoyed the dinner. If I'm back in this area, I will definitely return.

Excellent Indian food hidden in Stratford in this restaurant that has been around for decades!…read more Excellent service, excellent food, excellent ambiance. Classics like butter chicken, tandoori chicken (on the bone) and naan were some of the best I've ever had. And the prices are good too (for London.) My only advice is to order extra rice unless you're on a low carb diet. The servings of rice are a little smaller than I'm used to in the US. Seek out this place if you love Indian food.

The staff are all friendly and make an effort to be polite and informative about the food. The food is not just Indian but also Nepalese so you do not have to just have the usual curry. They have offering from a clay oven also if you would rather have something not to saucey, as in the traditional tikka masalas (which they do have on offer). It location is just the wrong side of the Crystal Palace triangle but it has been there for many years now so this has not affected it to badly. It is a nice restaurant as you can always have a conversation and actually hear the other person without shouting which I always find useful. If you want to line your stomach before hitting the bars in the Crystal Palace triangle you could do a lot worse than here. The food is reasonably priced and the portions are of a good size so you should not leave there hungry. As like most restaurants of this type puddings are not their strong point but the starters and main meals make up for this in my opinion. All in all a good restaurant which I will continue to use.

Thank goodness - Yak and Yeti has finally restored my faith in there being a half decent indian/nepalese restaurant anywhere near the Palace. We popped in on Monday early evening and were the only ones in. The service was slow and clumsy - at one point we asked the reccomendation from the waiter of which to have and if the Goan Curry was any good. The waiter scrunched up his nose and pointed to a completeley different meal and said that was better, the Goan Curry is not soo good. - You have to laugh. Despite there not being the best service in the world, the food was great. Sometimes, you can order three different things off the menu, and they all sort of taste the same, but not here. We ended up ordering the Goan Curry (plenty of fish, but a little too anaseed for my taste- not unplesant) Sagg Allo (creamy spinach and well seasoned) and a veggie curry. The veggies were not overcooked and each sauce was lovely. Especially lovely onion bajis and nann. Not oliy and sloppy but crisp and full of flavour. They even threw in a few poppadoms while we were musing over the menu (you would be surprised how many places now charge for poppadoms - it's so frustrating). Fingers crossed the take-away is as good as the sit down otherwise *shakes fists*. Yak & Yeti also seems to be sponsering local events such as the Crystal Palace Film Festival - which is also good to know it's committed to the community.

I ended up selecting the Biryani Shah Jahani (Lamb) and some Tandori Partatha bread. The flavor was explosive on my pallet. I requested it as a medium spice level and was concerned that it may have been too "tame." In the end it was perfect (for my tastes). Had a nice amount of heat but not overly so. My third visit here and consistently excellent each time…read more The restaurant is fairly small with a few seats in the front and an upstairs and downstairs seating area. Open kitchen and large grill in the front with some of the meats and vegetable dishes on display - all looking mouth wateringly good. It's also clean, bright and well organised and everyone is busy and active. Needoo serves Punjabi cuisine (Pakastani & Indian). Dishes sampled last night included: - Mixed veg Allo gobi with meltingly soft aubergine, pepper, cauliflower, potato with a delicate slightly smoky flavour. - Meat biryani: slow cooked, fragrant, tender. - Baby chicken masala: perfect spicing and flavours with tender tasty chicken. - Lahori chana (chick peas) which were also meltingly soft and delicious with smoky galicky and spice flavours. Even the zeera rice (with cumin seeds) was full of flavour. - Complimentary salad for the table and papodoms at the start. On previous visits I have also tried the lamb chops which arrive on a sizzling iron platter emitting spicy chilli smoke that was pretty potent. The lamb chops were probably just as good as the legendary Tayyabs, just around the corner. Actually, I think the food in general at Needoo was a touch better than Tayyabs (have only been to Tayyabs once but felt a bit like being on a conveyor belt). Only possible downside I can think of is that some of the dishes can be a bit oily but not sure this is a real downside since it probably wouldn't be the same otherwise. This isn't a diet destination. A TV showing Bollywood MTV and proper air conditioning add to the unpretentious ambience. It can get busy at peak times but if you go early there's no wait. Great, efficient service too. It's BYOB which is good (just remember beforehand since there aren't too many places to buy beer in the immediate vicinity). So 5 stars for all round excellent food, service and great value.

They were extremely considerate of our group's many dietary restrictions. And they have a very easy online booking system for group meals, where a large group dinner menu is selected by default but you can easily replace individual dishes. Not only was the preparation great, the execution was excellent. The whole evening was seamless and I felt like Nitesh or the other staff member were constantly just a wave away. First we tried the momos - pork and veggie. They weren't quite like the momos at our favorite Nepalese place at home... much more dumping-esque with a paper thin wrapper. The other notable item we ordered was the okra (ram toria I think). Another dish we get at home, another dish that was not quite the same but another dish that was delicious.
