Why is zero stars not an option? Stupidly gave Royal Nails a second chance. I asked for tips, dip and cuticle trim. The guy did the tips and then started to apply acrylic powder and I stopped him at the first nail. I've had my nails done hundreds and hundreds of times over 30 years - I know the acrylic nail process and this was definitely acrylic. He told me he was using dip powder and going to use Gel polish (which I absolutely did not want) but he kept on applying acrylic to each and every nail. Yup, I'm an idiot for not standing up and walking out. He also skipped over the cuticle trim part. Pedicure was decent but the chocolate pedi I asked for was just a regular pedi. Not sure what that was about. Basically, they're going to lie to your face about what they're doing and what products they're applying. I'm so ticked I gave them money. By the way, they do not accept credit cards AT ALL. Just cash. That's sketch. So, now I'm waiting for my nail infection to start. It was super dirty in there too. That's fun. Do not go here. Had a pedicure today, he did not use base coat, did not use moisturizer, or massage my legs, feet. He did however hold got stones on my legs which did not feel great, way to hot. A complete nightmare. Worst nail experience of my life in the hundreds of times I've gotten my nails done. Had to redo my feet twice. The polish kept bubbling up and they blamed it on me. I've been getting my nails done for 10+ years and never had this happen. I said I had a family event to get to and that I didn't have time to stay any longer and that I didn't trust them to redo it for a third time. I said I would pay for the manicure (which they also had to redo once) but that I didn't want to pay for the botched pedicure. The manager (the man who was doing my nails) immediately started yelling at me that he was calling the police. I kept a calm voice and had to tell him multiple times to lower his voice and stop yelling at me. (There were other customers in the shop by the way) I explained that I wasn't going to pay for a botched pedicure and he wouldn't stop shouting so I began recording him and then he finally stopped shouting. I had to get them to redo my nails because the first time was not at all what I wanted. When i got moved to the other technician he was extremely rude and could visibly see that I was not happy but continued to say smart remarks. There was a well behaved corgi inside but otherwise the experience was not worth the money. The water for my pedicure they didn't even try to warm up. I think their polish is old because my tech had difficulty applying the polish and got quite a bit on my surrounding skin and didn't bother tidying it up. It's really the bare minimum to paint inside the lines when giving a pedicure for $35. Had a full set done and what I got was really different from what I asked for and the tech was frustrated when I anted to change it because I didn't like what I saw. I ended up just keeping as is to not cause an issue. He didn't file a lot of the excess acrylic and left my cuticles a mess. It's been less than 24 hours and I can see a nail already lifting. Doubtful these will last for my trip. A shame because I used to enjoy my pedicures here when I came a few years ago. I tipped but won't be back. They were quick if that's any consolation. read more

After waiting 1.5 hours after our booked appointment the workers would not let us know who was next and it turned into a whichever seat you sit in MAYBE your nails will get painted. Just got here at 9:23am on Sunday, the open sign is on, and I double checked their hours which say open at 9am on Sunday, but no one is here and the door is locked. This was my second attempt to come here and it was a failure. My first time was even worse... i got a pedi and acrylic nails. My pedicure and nails looked like a 5 year old did it. What's worse is when the lady was doing my feet, she was physically raising up my feet, pointing to my heels, and clearly talking shit about my feet. We both felt uncomfortable. Also, the whole place is dirty. The floors the counters, etc. all need to be cleaned and swept. They also reused supplies from one customer to the next when they should be using brand new ones. Another downside is that Venmo and Cashapp are their preferred payment methods. The foot file they use for pedicures is a cheese grater. An actual hand held cheese grater from a kitchen store that they did not clean between customers. None of the tools for manicures or pedicures were cleaned between customers. My nails actually turned out very nicely. Which is why I gave two stars instead of one. But my mom's pedicures actually hurt her several times. So the lesson is: manicures are fine, but pedicures are a no go. read more

Came in with my mom shop didn't seem that fool lady was available started my mother's nails we needed a fill in and color change My mom got hers done it took about an hour as I sat waiting because there wasn't an open tech to do my nails The lady who was doing my mom's nails then started doing mine taking the file and getting all the old polish off she then stands up and says to me this lady will do your nails when pointed to another lady that was already doing someone else's nails and was about halfway finished I'm a very patient person and I didn't mind waiting however it took another 25 to 30 minutes for her to complete her nails and then she started on mine for another customer who I've been waiting for over an hour to come in and start complaining that she wanted hers done or she wanted a refund because she had already paid for her nails so the nail tech that was doing my nails decided to stop and go do that woman's nails and the other lady that first started my nails to finish mine which she said she couldn't do mine because I wanted black tips and she didn't know how to do those so then she finished doing my nails took another about 30 minutes and they look horrible I look ridiculous and I refuse to pay for my nails paid for my mother's who looked very good but mine looked horrible every customer in the store was complaining and upset because they kept passing people back and forth and making people wait starting and not finishing because another person came in and they wanted to start them so do not recommend this place don't go there they suck wouldn't waste your money read more

Just go to Ann's nails right across the street. I called 30 minutes ahead and asked when the next available appointment was.. I was told they could do it in about 30 minutes and when I asked to schedule a appointment I was told there was no need figuring that meant they weren't busy. So when I arrive I sign in, and I get seated in a message chair as I wait. I waited and waited.. another 45 minutes passed and nobody had spoken to me or updated me. First time I've ever walked out of a business because of the waiting time and because I was told I could be seen within 30 minutes. I paid $35 for an acrylic fill in and $10 for gel that included the cat eye technique... basically using the magnet on the polish to create a design. I didn't get frills; no massage at end of service or lotion rub down or oil on cuticles. Just a hot warm towel on the hands.. that's it. The massage chair is great, but the price for the value doesn't add up. The picture here is after 4 days of a gel manicure. The technician painted over my cuticles and it immediately started peeling. I wanted my nails to look good for my engagement party, but I was really disappointed. The fruit they serve is a nice gesture, but it is not fresh at all. Got a dip set done here. When I walked in and sat down, the man tried color matching my nails (a very light pink) instead of starting over - he selected a color that wasn't even close to the one I already had on my nails (a very dark and dull pink) and assumed that it would be fine to do "ombre". I asked him to just do a new color and he upcharged my $15 to start over. When he did he rushed through, as there was only two workers and 3 people waiting for service that they had already sat and were waiting to be helped. Not to mention that when he'd cleaned up my cuticles and cut my nails he dumped the towel on the ground next to him instead of throwing all the nail cuttings away in the trash. Told him I couldn't have gel on my hands for work and he continued to put gel on "just for one coat". Told me that if anything happened to my nails in a week, I should go back and they will fix it for free - within three days two nails had fallen off and my real nails were peeling back from all the rest. I called and they said they would only redo the ones that had fallen off, not fix the rest, and would "try to color match again". Would never go here again even to get them fixed. I got the absolute worst pedicure I have gotten here by the lady who sits in the middle chair top row. Rude, disrespectful and overcharged me and did my full set all crazy looking. I tried to get her to fix it and she made it worse. I ask to be seated and have it fixed and she refused making a scene until I said you know what never mind. My pedicure was 75 and she didn't even take the calls off or scrub it after scraping it. She left it looking worse than before! I am beyond upset. I have cuts from cuticles too low and she drilled my nails to the point of pain which wasn't necessary. This place needs to be closed down. Many health code hazards. Disgusting. I will be contacting better business bureau and I suggest everyone else do the same. My toe nail is turning black and it's only been a couple days. If the tools are sanitary how did I get bacteria? I usually go to the serenity salon on Preston in Charlottesville but they were busy and I was inpatient so we came out here as my boyfriend had gotten a decent manicure once before here. HOWEVER THE first strike was when I came in I asked if they had Lincoln park after dark and she said yes. When it comes time to paint she's like oh we don't have it. I settle for black it's fine whatever cool. She paints and finishes and I had a blister on my pinky for two days so it was very fresh and she cuts it wide open! Ouch! I ask her why would she do that.... Then I notice the paint job. It was terrible. The filing was also less than desired. I vocalize this about 6 times and it still looks very sloppy. Even my boyfriend noticed the poor paint job and was trying to advocate for me. The manager then comes over and does absolutely nothing for me making me pay full amount aside from a $10 discount for the pain insisting she put hard work in. It doesn't matter if it's hard work, it's not good work sure as heck not professional work. Needless to say I won't be returning. Very unprofessional and unsatisfactory service. I have REALLY wanted to like this place as it is so convenient; however I am sorry to say this place has been a let down every time. I started the pedicure part of the service at the same time as the woman next to me. She purchased a standard pedicure, I purchased a Spa Pedicure which is quite a bit more expensive and boasts additional services such as a wax treatment, extended hot rock massage, etc. I was exceptionally disappointed when I FINISHED BEFORE her. My service was very very fast. They weren't overly busy so I'm unsure why she was so fast. The massage was less than two minutes total and was when she performed the scrub vs lotion and skin to just scrubbing my skin, not a massage. The paint is abhorrent. I could have done a better job in the dark. I have nail polish all over my toes and it isn't even completely covering my nail in several places. I went there just a few day ago and definitely won't go back. Don't go to this place!! My nails and fingers hurt because she filed them way to short and they have been bleeding. They also over charged me and would reuse certain tools such ad nail files and cuticle clippers with out washing/discarding them before using it on a new costumer. Over all the place wasn't sanitary and there was pretty bad costumer service. After all this is was shocked when the guy there took my friends phone and left a five star review for himself saying he she the nails without her permission to do so. read more
