The guy at the cashier got mad at us claiming he lost $10 because he ran off tickets for the wrong lotto date. We had written down and shown him the game, date and how much we wanted. Plus what we asked for didn't even come to $10 so why would he yell at US when HE'S the one who made the mistake? I've gone out of my way to buy lotto tickets elsewhere after that bullshit. How dare they treat a customer that way when they are the one who made the mistake. I won't give this place my business again. I don't care how convenient the location is.

I've been to many other Binny's all around Chicago, and this location has the most knowledgeable and friendliest staff. When going in for wine, I talk to Steve, the Wine Manager. You tell him the type of wine you're looking for and your price range and he will always come up with a great tasting bottle. Plus, he tends to give a little background on the wine which is very interesting. Tequila, I've talked to a couple people but the one that stuck out to me was Rob Z. (I think that was his name). I told him the ones I've tried and what I like and he pointed me to 3 bottles. I went with his top choice and it truly was an amazing bottle of tequila! They have the biggest selection of craft beer, fine wine and high end tequila I have ever seen all across the country! No matter who you talk to, it seems everyone is very helpful! The rating hasn't changed, but I must report on their annual Wine Thing event, which was this past…read moreSunday. It's a fantastic event, and pretty popular. It works like this: They have about 100 wines set up to taste in a semi-circle around the store. A woman at the door checked our IDs, took our $5, and gave us a list of wines at each station. Everything being tasted was on sale for the day -- a minimum of 5% off with bigger discounts for larger quantities, up to 24% off. And then we were handed our "Wine Thing" wine glass (not to keep, alas) and a small bag of pretzels and headed in. This is not a huge store, so it was pretty crowded. But the people pouring the wines were as friendly and helpful as they could be, given the circumstances. And everyone was nice enough about letting people by, lubed up with good wine. Still, we had to emerge from the crowd every so often to get a little fresh air. But besides simply having more space for this event -- or maybe doing timed tickets or something? -- it's a GREAT way to taste a ton of wines from knowledgeable people and find a new favorite or two. :)
