It's Thirsty Thursday and what better place to review than Lundeen's Liquors?! One of my favorite…read moreliquor stores and bottle shops in the area. Lundeen's has a huge selection of craft beer, wine and liquor. There hasn't been a time where I walk in this place and don't see anything new. This is one of my go-to places for craft beer. They have a good selection and the staff is pretty knowledgeable about all the different breweries. If there is something you want and they don't have they'll be happy to look up in their inventory to see if it's available. They'll also speak with reps from different distributors to check on specialty beer if you need something specific. If you love beer fests, Lundeen's ) has a kick ass Oktoberfest at the end of the year. A bunch of good breweries come by, you go in, listen to polka, eat some sausage and drink good beer. Hit up Lundeen's for all your boozey needs. Only complaint is sometimes the prices are inconsistent. Sometimes you can find the same beer down the street at Hyvee for a few bucks less, sometimes a few bucks more. Not sure why? Btw, if you're a 3 Floyds fan...they deliver on Wednesdays.

I think their selection is " so so" in terms of what they can give you. They are just a small neighborhood store. Liquor stores have a 20 to 30 per cent markup on products which is how they have stayed in business so long while customers either buy their products or choose to go purchase beer some place else. The people there are not the friendliest people on earth. I suspect this is a family business trying to make a decent living. I also assume ( perhaps I am wrong) some underlying issues of the girl working there. I gave you a dollar. I gave you 75 cents. Why did you just rub my three quarters together and say " Now it is enough" when the dollar bill was placed on the counter? I could not hand you the dollar because you kept " touching and rubbing ( not trying to be vulgar) the three quarters " waiting" for my dollar which was right there in front of you! My arms are not ten feet long. WTF were you waiting for honey? An invitation to take the Washington from me? I had enough and yes I have paid with change and credit alike but who on earth even cares of petty things like this? I left the place forever scratching my head after leaving the store wondering what happened. I did not wish to say this. I bet the person writing this, as well as the one reading this " wants to be someplace else at this time." Am I right? The girl who works there works very hard! It is hard work serving the public! However, I suspect she wants to be away from her family or the store itself or both. She is a nice lady but at times she is a bit intense with myself and others. If they want a new customers then they will advertise wine tastes or work with the other stores to have wine tastings and burritos in the summer since there are no benches or any place to really hold such a thing, but, it just feels very " barren" when I go in there as its a small store with so much stuff on that counter. I did not see the dusty wine bottles. I did not buy wine. Therefore, I cannot ascertain one way or another the condition of their wine products but they do have quite a bit of wine for a small store that sits because Elgin simply is not the north shore. Deal with it. good day

It was hard to limit myself, as I found so many to try! The price ranges from low to high end, so there are options for every budget. And what's nice, is that they allow patrons to buy just one beer from a six pack, without an additional charge. I could forsee this being a problem if it's the last six pack left, you want said 6 pack, and all you find is 5 beers in it, but they seem to keep well stocked overall. They seem to have an extensive collection of wine and hard liquor too, from mini to full size. What they don't have?? Big-ass bottles of Jack... we heard one customer asking for this (in those exact words!), and the store only had the regular fifth. Too bad for him. We had a great time perusing and learning, and BUYING here. We will return!

When I went in for a refund, the store said to keep the 2 remaining expired Duvel sets on the shelf- do not buy these, they are sour and have gone bad! Sadly, I cannot recommend a business that knowingly sells expired/bad products.

I do it for the exercise and to save gas, but I'll let everybody keep thinking that I bike to liquor stores because my license was taken away because of, um, my frequent visits to liquor stores. I like Binny's, but this is closer, has a great selection, and has better pricing on some items. I lately only go to Binny's for particular beers that Prestige doesn't always have, or has in limited quantities that may disappear quickly, like Sam Adams Blackberry Witbier. I took one star away because there seem to be some rude customers there pretty often; the kind of people who smash their car door into other people's doors and then yell at the person in the car they smashed like it was their fault for having the stupidity and audacity to park in their vicinity. Also, the parking lot can be a bitch to get out of if you drive. Also, I like that they card religiously, but there's this ONE GUY who likes to scrutinize the ID's of old ladies to make them feel young and beautiful or something, even if there's a line. Hey man, if you wait much longer, she's going to die before she can get home and drink that wine cooler. Really, though, I love this place. Thank you for selling good sangria on the cheap, Prestige!

Compared to other liquor stores, Prestige is on the smaller size, but it packs a big punch in terms of their craft and specialty beer selection. The place was clean, organized, and the guy in front of the counter was really helpful in terms of helping me find what i was looking for.
