I give 4_stars because there's always room to do better. I've been a guest for 9 years, and I have seen improvements. For starters the costumer service amped up the bilingual while using the Kiosk. Presentation and communication starts with great understanding of what was shown on ones phone ECT. Which brings me to the rooms plus. Being a Vendor working stadiums across the U.S. I hit a lot of Hotel- Motels and even the so called 5 *'s have there issues. Me myself I love the night crew they have great C.Service and for today's inflatable times $. The price can't be beat also when tennants leave you have no way of monitoring who drops off what roach or bedbug from their last filthy location. All R.Inn can do is combat them and hope for the best also tennants be acting like plumber's breaking in walls and self stripping pipes before calling on maintenance. Staff was very rude, we paid for two rooms and they claimed we only paid for one despite having receipts. Only ended up staying one night and the other half of our party had to spend three hours looking for a hotel room. Definitely saw something crawling around on the ground, a bug of some kind, and the bathroom door was extremely difficult to even close. Claims there's a pool online but it's been filled in with concrete. Don't recommend this place at all. read more

DO NOT BOOK HERE! Booked for Indy 500. They have a kiosk and check-in is thru the kiosk with a person sitting ??? ... India maybe. Four people ... 2 small towels. Discovered this after housekeeping staff left. Was told someone would come to front desk. No one did. Called the hotel number. Was told to call back in 20 minutes. Someone did finally come to desk to help someone else. Asked them for towels and was told they had none even though I could see some in a shelf. Was told they would provide after 10. Asked tonight or tomorrow. Was told tonight. Advised them I needed to shower and go to bed. Then they asked for my room number. When I provided they said I needed to go to the other office. Apparently there are 2 separate hotels on the same property. I booked with Royal Inn - Speedway but was placed in Studio 6. Went to the other office. Two guys sitting there ... neither worked there. They began talking to another kiosk. This guy looked like he was sitting on his back porch. I could see he was talking to someone but couldn't hear. I am writing to formally file a complaint regarding a distressing incident that occurred during my recent stay at your hotel from September 5 to September 7, 2025, along with my husband. On the night of September 5, around 12:00 AM, I received an aggressive phone call in our room from a manager identifying himself as Gopi. He began the call by loudly accusing us of having three people in our room, shouting that he would be charging us an additional $60. At no point did he ask any clarifying questions or speak respectfully -- instead, he jumped straight to accusatory language stating "you cannot have 3 people in your room! I will charge $60, you hear me! you cannot have 3 people!" I explained that only my husband and I had been in the room at all times. Despite this, he insisted he had "seen" three people, but refused to verify via hallway cameras -- something I repeatedly suggested. Rather than come up to speak with us directly, he sent security alone to our door, demanding entry. I refused entry, insisting that the manager come up instead. The security guard then received a phone call and left. Following this, I attempted to call the lobby twice, and both calls were ignored. The next morning, I spoke with a female staff member at the front desk who confirmed that Gopi had made a note in the system stating, "two more people were in the room," but said we would not be charged until after an investigation. I asked to speak with the hotel manager, Ali, but was told he was "not available." I called the front desk two more times later that day, and again I was told Ali could not be reached. Around 4:00 PM, I was finally able to speak with Ali in person. His demeanor was cold and dismissive, and he offered no apology for the actions of his staff. I requested a contact number to submit a formal complaint, and was given 929-431-6836, a number which does not appear to be operational, raising concerns that I was intentionally misled. This entire experience was deeply unprofessional, intrusive, and borderline harassing. I expect better treatment from any hospitality business, especially one that holds guest comfort and trust as a core principle. While it looks like they are currently remodeling, the rooms were clean Neighborhood is a little sketchy as people were smoking weed on the back stairway at 3 in the afternoon. Children screamed and played loudly outside at all times of the night. We were double charged for the room. When we called to take care of the double charge the gentleman said yes I see you need to call back tomorrow after 10am and talk to the manager. We called back and spoke to a woman I can only assume was the manager who denied there being a double charge even though our bank statement showed the charge. We said we would be getting in touch with our bank to dispute the second charge. She said " go ahead, try to get a chargeback". Me and my family came to stay here while our apartment was getting renovated. My dad booked a week before and the room we booked was one room with two beds. Prior to staying here, we didn't do our research about it, bad idea. First of all, when my mom went to check in, they denied her entrance and stated that my dad needed to be there in order for her to get in our room. However, the day before, my mom was there when my dad was talking to the people in the screen and they said it was okay for my mom to check in by herself. It wasn't until later that my dad came to talk to the person in the screen that we managed to get a room. He wanted a refund, they said no however, he managed to get us a room regardless. When we got to the room, to our horror and surprise was a disgusting, cheap, and definitely not worth the money paid, looking room. We were distraught. All that hassle and all that money for something that looksike it's not worth $400 dollars. This wasn't even the room we booked and we had a receipt with proof of our room. During our stay, I got bit by a bed bug. Multiple times, on both of my arms. The worst part is that I had no idea until it was too late. On that same day, someone tried to break into our room because they were looking for a person named Eric. They knocked on our door twice and when there wasn't an answer, they used they key card to get into our room. Luckily my mom was still in the hotel and was behind the door. A lot of the neighbors also seemed sketchy and we didn't feel safe where we were. In conclusion, me and my family got scammed. Beware. read more

Worst hotel ever. My family and I (2 rooms) had the misfortune of staying in rooms 117 (me) and 123. The young man behind the counter was slouched in his chair. Never stood up when I walked up to the counter. I asked for a luggage cart. He got me a laundry cart. That was the best thing that happened all weekend. I got to my room then went back to the lobby to ask where the ice machine was. I was told it was broken. That was a good thing because the ice bucket was all sticky. When I finally got into bed, I noticed the sheets did not fit the bed. Under the sheet was a stained mattress. Disgusting. The towels had to be 10 years old and gray. In their previous life I can only think they were rags. The little fridge did keep things cold but it hadn't been defrosted since installation. All of the laundry equipment was outside of rooms in the back near the pool. There were large chunks of concrete back there also. I asked for a box of Kleenex but never got it. The walls were filthy. Service was non-existent. I have stayed in some of the finest hotels in the world. I have also stayed in some not to good ones. They can't all be the Ritz. Worst hotel experience ever. They need to burn it down and start from scratch. Just horrible. read more

I'll try to keep this short and to the point but first of all must say the major point of this review - THIS HOTEL IS DISHONEST AND THIEVES!!!!!!!!!! Booked the room on Expedia on 11/20 for an overnight stay on 12/14 for my fiancé and his friends for the PRI Expo being held in Indy. Wasn't looking for fancy, just 2 rooms for 4 guys to sleep in overnight, after a night on the town. At arrival, the staff claimed they didn't have a reservation for him. He showed them the confirmation and they still claimed that they did not have a reservation. When he said the room had already been paid for and again, here is the confirmation, the staff became rude and unruly. They sent him around the building to other staff. He said the place seemed very shady and he did not feel at all comfortable in his surroundings. When finding the staff that he had to hunt down (of course they wouldn't offer to call the staff to him), he was again treated very rudely. He called me upset, as he should be. I verified that the room had been prepaid on 11/20 via debit card and that I would call the hotel. He instructed me not to, as he refused to stay there with how rudely he was treated. I called Expedia and spoke with customer service who, due to the circumstances and how he was treated, escalated the call to management. Management put me on hold and called the hotel. After the hotel hung up on Expedia, Expedia called back and finally confirmed that hotel never confirmed the stay on their end. Management got back on the phone and let me know the circumstances. I let them know that I would like a refund, due to the fact that the human error was on their end, their staff did nothing to offer assistance, ask my fiancé to call Expedia and was extremely rude to him to the point he would rather drive 3 hours home than stay there. Management called the hotel back, and after being hung up on four times by the hotel, at the hotel confirmed the confirmation. This is important to know because as soon as the confirmation is approved by hotel staff, payment is made from Expedia to the hotel. At that point, you are then under the hotel rules. Cancellation is free until 24 hours before check in. Guess what day and time it is? Check in time. Guess who is no longer eligible for a refund? The customer who has been treated extremely poorly. Guess who was unwilling to refund my money? This horrible hotel. Expedia diligently worked to try to get the hotel to refund my money, which they were repeatedly told that cancellation is cut off 24 hours prior to arrival. After the staff hung up on Expedia, Expedia called again and explained from their management team to Royal Inn's management that this was poor business and that the ticket would be again escalated to reflect the poor customer service and business etiquette to not only my fiancé but also the Expedia staff. The hotel, completely unwilling to budge on policy didn't care and won't. How do you not confirm a hotel reservation when an email is sent daily as a reminder? I reserved these rooms 24 days ago! Expedia stepped in and went above and beyond to take care of me. They awarded me almost double the amount that I paid for the rooms due to the negligence of confirming the account, the rudeness and the way that once they confirmed the hotel room AFTER they knew my fiancé would not be staying there. If Expedia had realized that Royal Inn had not confirmed the room, Expedia could have withdrew the confirmation and refunded my money but Royal Inn went above and beyond to screw everyone in this situation and treat everyone horribly in the mean time. Although I'm on Trip Advisor (which I love them too!), I wanted everyone looking to book at this hotel to know what this staff is like. It's not just the front desk person, it's also the management that is horrible!!!!! I plan on posting this everywhere I can...everyone deserves to know how rotten this place is! Where should I start? How about the run down lobby that's in total disrepair? Wait... that's the very best part about this place. Opening the door to the room, we were greeted with a stench that smelled like a combination of raw sewage and Lysol. Lovely! Once we got past that, we noticed that there was no refrigerator (as was advertised). We could live with that, but then we noticed that there was no phone, and shockingly, no alarm clock, either. What did the Royal Inn have? I'd be happy to tell you.... * Roaches * Blood stains on the sheets * Mold * The need for an armed guard in the lobby * Non-working ice machine * A shower that had enough water pressure to almost get your hair wet * A large animal of some kind running around above the water-stained ceiling * Best of all, Royal Inn had neighborhood drug dealers who would prop open the back door and deal drugs in the stairwell next to our room. We had the police remove them once, but they came back. The hotels reaction to it when we contacted the agency who we booked through and complained and demanded that they let us check out and try to find a different (and safer) place to stay was "We had the police remove the drug dealers. No refunds." They couldn't have cared less. Absolutely unbelievable. This is, quite literally, the very worst hotel I have ever been in, and I wouldn't stay there again if my house burned down and they offered me a room for free. It was that bad, and I was embarrassed that I'd brought my family there. If you're considering staying at The Royal Inn in Indianapolis, I hope you read this first, and for the safety of your yourself and your family, pick another place. read more

This place is a roach infested, wax drippings on the floor, a/c unit on the floor, trash on the floor non smoking room that I spent thirty minutes in before checking out. Was charged for an early check in even though the room was ready and a security deposit. Thirty minutes in the room and they kept my full room rate for a night and refunded 30 bucks from my fourth for deposit and early check in. I've contacted my cc company for a refund. I stay in cheap independent hotels across the nation, as I travel for business most of the year. I always look for affordable weekly rate hotels. Most of the time I am fine with the no frills environment of the mom and pop hotels, but on occasion I run into problems. Normally the management at these types of hotels are understanding and find a way to deal with whatever comes up, and knowing what I'm paying for I'm not very demanding. But the "Royal" Inn was a special experience. I was there with 4 other business associates renting individual rooms and about 90 min after check inn I noticed something move....a rodent was crawling around my feet! Scared the crap out of me, but I calmly went to the desk and requested a refund...here's the "scarier" part. They tried to refuse my refund for the weeks stay I had paid for. After contacting the cops, and wasting 1 hour of my time they eventually refunded some of my money. I don't get angry over the fact that I bet and loose on a cheap hotel, but rats...and to refuse a refund. One of my associates mentioned he saw one as well and a trap under the bed. So they know this place is infested. I reserved 2 rooms at the Royal Inn in Indianapolis, IN. When we arrived, we were told no rooms were available. I explained to the desk clerk that we had reservations that were paid for. I showed him the itinerary and he refused to even check the computer. He said that we could not check in after 8 pm. He then proceeded to wave his hands and said to leave. After 2 days of attempting to reach Hotels.com and the Royal Inn, for a refund, I did reach someone at each. A gentleman at the hotel said that they would not accept the payment on their end and apologized. They said that we would have to work with Hotels.com to stop the payment on their end. After finally reaching someone at Hotels.com, I was told that it was out of their control and I would have to work it out with the Hotel. Instead of doing the run around. I've stayed at some cheap motels but I've never seen so many and such bold and hungry roaches before! This place got 2 stars on google and I think that was a bit generous. The only positive thing that I gained from this experience was a reminder to ALWAYS read the review before making a purchase and inspect the product whenever possible before committing. The air was stale and dank upon entry, maybe some hints of smoke or mildew so I had a bit of buyer's remorse right off the bat. So I opened the window and fired up the air purifier and air quality monitor and got it to a fair level of contamination while I unpacked my hygiene items and hung my bags up in the closet to minimize bed bug infestation risk. The water in the shower was cold no matter what I did with the dial but its summer so I wasn't put off by that. It came out pinkish red at first but cleared up in a few seconds but the drain was slow and cloggy. Now about those roaches: One more positive note first, there are a lot of good authentic looking Mexican take-out places around so I went out for a burrito and brought it back and ate it and left some meat in a bowl for my cat, who wasn't into it. Checked it maybe half and hour later and 5 roaches were chowing down! They all scurried off to their lair in the nightstand when I kicked at the bowl. I've never had to ask for a refund at a hotel before and I've stayed in musty rooms with trash under the bed.... but I've never seen roaching creeping around with all the lights on. I understand seeing one scurry off when you turn the light on at night, but this is a degree of infestation that I'm not at all comfortable with. So, I asked the desk guy if they had any roach-free rooms and he said it was all booked and pointed to the "No Refunds" sign. Now I've never seen such a sign at a hotel but I can see why they might have one here. I noticed that sign upon checking and briefly considered heeding that warning but, how bad could it be? I found out, it can get get pretty bad. The night clerk said the manager would be in at 9AM. The guy there in the morning said the manager was out of town and he was dressed pretty sharp with slick gelled hair so I asked him for a free night in a non-infested room since I kept waking up to (real or imagined) roaches crawling all over my body. The best he was willing to offer was to give me a non-infested room at an infested room's price, which wasn't good enough for me so I left and I'm now writing my first ever review on Yelp. So I tried to get a room in Indy last night since my family was displaced. I drove all over the west side of town before I was FORCED to stay here. There was a mouse in my wastebasket, and the front desk told ME to get rid of it. I am sorry, but I don't do mice, rats, snakes, etc. So then it got out, so I spent the entire night in my bed scared to walk on the floors. Then there is the floors. The carpet turned my socks black! The tile in the bathroom was totally cracked and broken. I cut my toe! There was a missing bar in the tub, so the bottom of the shower was moist on the inside, and is smelled of mildew really bad. I then was told, and signed a receipt that my room was 63.xx. I woke up this morning to find that I have been charged $75.00! I left and tried to find ANYWHERE else to stay, but was not so lucky with the Monument Marathon in town. I then witnessed a drunk gentleman taking a cab to the motel, where he attempted to rent a room, and the owner proceeded to tell him that they couldn't because everything else they had vacant had ROACHES! The rooms in the hall with mine all had cigarette and marijuana smoke barreling from under the doors. I would seriously think twice if you are considering staying here. It would not be in your best interest. I will be going to the Dr. for this cut on my foot. There is no telling what I may have picked up in the filthy place. What a dump. I had no choice but to stay here for the night. Everything was booked due to the FFA convention and POTUS coming to town. For $118 a night I was ripped off. The room halls looked like someone with dirty hands ran down it on both sides. Doors were gross. Entering the room noticed a smoke smell even though they are non smoking. Flipped the bed spread down and there were holes in the sheets you can see the mattress. Dust on everything. After drinking a couple beers so I could just sleep I dressed in a hoodie long pants and my sneakers on and laid down. I did not get under the covers at all. I felt dirty laying there. That Was about 10:30 pm. At about 1:45 am I was woken to someone in the next room trying to open the door that splits the rooms. I did not even try to see what the problem was due to me being alone and in the neighborhood I was in. Needless to say I was up all night after that. This place got one star because you have to. Even though they had a clear indication that I paid for the room in full I found myself frustrated and without a place to stay. Gobie. Gobie was the reason this was a bad experience. I made reservations on Expedia and paid extra to ensure that there were no issues with the reservation. I get there with my itinerary number, confirmation my bank account was charged, etc and he refused to even look at my phone and waved his hands at me like he couldn't be bothered with me. Im from out of town. I have no where else to go. He gets on the phone with his boss and then charges my debit card again but without specifying that it was for a security deposit and it would be refunded when I check out. I didn't find out until the next morning when I complained to someone else. We then get put in a room that is literally right next to the front desk. It smells like mold and mildew. I booked this through Priceline and because the pictures didn't look too bad. It must have been creative lighting. I honestly thought that I had been "punked" and booked a closed and abandoned motel, since there were no cars in the parking lot and the outside looked dilapidated and uninhabitable. Nope, it was actually open. It's situated behind a gas station and adjacent to Family Dollar, which is never a good indicator if the neighborhood. I was actually afraid to leave the rental car in the parking lot. I, in fact, asked the front desk if break-ins are a problem. Once inside, the overwhelming smell of old smoke was EVERYWHERE. The door to my room was loose on the hinge and the door inside the room that connects to the next room, if opened, was also loose on the hinge and unlocked when I arrived. The room didn't smell any better than the lobby. I kept the air conditioner on because it seemed to help the smell. My room window faced a parking lot and an alleyway, where I could here folks hanging out and being loud at night. I, fortunately, didn't see any vermin during my stay like other comments, but I suspect that I was just lucky. I would not recommend women traveling alone to stay here. I paid way too much for this room. read more
