I ordered food online from their website. It was easy to place an order and the food was ready to pick up when I got there. But that's where the good things end with this restaurant. I ordered a Butter Chicken and a Chicken Curry along with some Garlic Naan, some Poori and an order of Gulab Jamun and Gajar Halwa. Butter Chicken: Terrible. 1/5. The dish was too buttery and so very bland. The chicken was obviously not marinated in the gravy as the chicken pieces didn't have any flavor on them. The chicken was also burnt and VERY chewy. Some of the worst I've ever had. Chicken Curry: Okay. 3/5. This dish was better than the Butter Chicken but that's not a high bar to clear. It had plenty of flavor in the curry but the chicken pieces were again terrible and not cooked well. Garlic Naan: Bad. 2/5. The Naan was soooo chewy and so hard to eat. Not cooked well. And it didn't have the garlic flavor to it. Poori: Inedible. 0/5. I don't know who taught them to make Poori but that wasn't a Poori. It was DRIPPING with oil and al flaky. For $5, it was a complete waste of money. DO NOT ORDER. Gajar Halwa: Terrible. 1/5. The halwa had gone bad!!! It was starting to sour and they just gave it to me! It could have been good if it was fresh. Couldn't finish it. Gulab Jamun: Okay. 3/5. Not coming back to this place as long as they don't make some changes. I'm an Indian and this is terrible Indian food. Edit: After I posted my review, the owner of the business called it fake. So here's my receipt of my order as proof of purchase. I have no need nor inclination to post fake reviews. This is for everyone to read and judge for themselves. And not being able to take criticism doesn't bode well for a restaurant. And the reason I didn't bring the food back is because it was a to-go order and I live in Davis.

I have been here 3 times in a span of three weeks. The food and service was amazing. I also really liked the ambiance of the restaurant. I highly recommend eating here! The Gol Gappa was my favorite!

Amazing local spot. After 5 years of waiting for it to become a separate business from the retail shop next door. The owner has now opened up for business. Had to try it out, great menu lots of choices we went in expecting an okay place but the service, atmosphere, and flavors of northern India cuisine is delicious. Spoke with the owner while paying the bill. And he said he just opened back up after two months of separation of the business next door, which makes him happy. If you love Indian food please support them. We are definitely going back to try other dishes.

Delicious food, my friend don't eat spicy found its little spicy so if your don't eat spicy might not be for you we asked very mild. The tikka was grilled to perfection, everything we tried was a hit. Rice could have been warmer, nan was very good too, the place is very clean large of alcoholic and none alcoholic selection. I must say I can't wait to go back.

Basmati rice- tasty and enough for two people

Place is small but quaint. Staff was super friendly and helpful when ordering and very attentive. Chicken tikka masala- my go to dish when trying a new Indian restaurant and the flavors did not disappoint. It was creamy and well spiced. They used tandoori chicken which added extra flavor 10/10 my bad for asking for med spice should have gone higher but now I know for next time. Basmati rice- although it is a basic rice it complemented the rest of the dishes and was great for absorbing the yummy sauce Garlic naan- it was a little sweeter than I am used to but it was still tasty and definitely hit the spot Vegi Manchurian- these are veggie balls battered and fried in a sweet and sour chutney like sauce with onions 10/10 if you like sweet and sour Mango Lassi- perfectly sweet and creamy 10/10 Overall food was fresh tasting well spiced and we will definitely be returning!

Do they use sugar in their Tikka masala curry?

Hello, no we do not. The 🍅 tomatoes purée & heavy cream tends to mimic little sweetness but no there is no added sugar in tikka masala curry.

Is the meat halal?

Yes it is. We only buy Halal products. We are in the process of getting the Halal certification and once we obtain it, we will have the sign up for Halal meat.

We've lived in Hercules for over 30 years and are creatures of habit, so it was nice to venture the 10-minute drive to San Pablo. We were not impressed by the exterior strip mall building, but the interior of Mely's is very cute, homey, and clean. (I even peeked into the kitchen since the door was open.) I wanted pancakes, but got waffles instead since W ordered the blueberry buttermilk stack. We both had a side of eggs, his scrambled and mine sunny side up. The eggs were delish; mine in particular was perfectly cooked with slightly crunchy edges, a beautiful, silky, runny yolk, and no uncooked whites. The blueberry pancakes are so good! Of course they are huge and I ate some of them in addition to my waffle. We could have split just the pancakes and been perfectly happy. They cook berries inside the homemade batter and top them with a house-made blueberry compote. Maple syrup and soft butter on the side. The waffles are crispy outside with a light, airy, center, dusted with powdered sugar and cinnamon. I had strawberries on the side (+$5 !!). Since I ate some of W's pancakes, we took half the waffles home. W had a drip coffee--no decalf available so I had the fresh-squeezed OJ. It was a large glass so I took half of that home, too. The coffee was nothing to rave about, but it was coffee. Service was friendly and efficient--there is only one cook and one server, and it seems several of us arrived at the same time on this Sunday morning. Overall a wonderful find that we will return to so we can explore more dishes. We saw omelets and Benedict's come out that looked amazing! Plus, I want to try the dinner menu, which also looked pretty amazing.

When I tasted the beef Philly I was ready to order one to go, but they had sold out. The rest of my friends had burgers, the vegetarian had fries, even the dog had a pup patty, and everyone enjoyed the food The music was almost too loud; however, because the stage is outside, it was not too uncomfortable. We heard two different bands. The loud music did make it hard to have a conversation. A word of warning that does not affect my rating: bees and yellow jackets are everywhere. There is nothing that the Backyard can do to keep these pests out of the yard.

The walkway to order your food is also stunning and, in the shade, so you don't have to worry about the sun hitting you. It's perfect for sitting down with family and friends to relax while you eat brunch. Not only that but the food was honestly amazing. Everything tasted fresh, high-quality, and homemade. The French Toast was perfectly fluffy and slightly crispy on the edges, the eggs were cooked exactly right, and the Chicken and Waffles were the perfect balance of crispy and flavorful. The brunch options were just as impressive; there was a great variety of food, generous portions, and it was beautifully presented. You can tell a lot of care goes into both the taste and the experience. I found myself looking around to see what other people ordered, and I had to stop myself from ordering more because of how good it all looked, but I did sneak in another Quesabirria into my order. I will most definitely be coming back to order more, and on an emptier stomach, so I can eat without stopping. The service here really stood out and made the whole experience even better. From the start, we were greeted with genuine smiles and were even generous enough to change our seating because the sun was hitting our faces. Our server, Arnold, was incredibly attentive without ever being overbearing. He checked in at just the right times, kept our drinks constantly refilled, and made sure everything came out exactly how we ordered it. They were also super knowledgeable about the menu, gave great recommendations, and were patient when we had questions. It didn't feel rushed at all. They really let us enjoy our time, which is exactly what you want from a brunch spot. He even gave us a French toast for the unfortunate sitting, and it was the best French toast I've ever had. What makes this place truly amazing is that, for it only being opened for 3 years, it's truly impressive how much they have accomplished and will definitely be coming back to further support this family business. 10/10

The place is nicely decorated and had about 1 or 2 customers already. 2 dishes came out at the same time while the other 3 came to the table a few minutes later. The food was ok. My parents got the Mi Casa Desayuno. The waitress told my dad they were out of the fruit salad, which was weird, since the place had just opened. I guess they never had fruit in the first place. My brother choked on a large piece of plastic in his Tres Leches French Toast. I told one of the male staff members there was plastic in his dish, and he just said, "Sorry, it was probably the plastic from the bread's packaging," and then walked away. A few minutes later, I saw the waitress and pulled her aside to discreetly tell her there was plastic in my brother's meal. She told me she wanted to see it ( kind of with a tone of 'I don't believe you'), and I brought her over to the dish to show her. She didn't say anything, so I said we would happily pay for the other dishes, but could my brother's meal be comped for the choking hazard? The waitress turned and went to the kitchen, to, I guess, talk to someone about it. The waitress came back out, took the dish away, probably to show whoever was in the kitchen. A while later, she came back out with the check, but did not bother to explain to us what the plan was from there. We did see a 50% markdown on my brother's dish. It was really awkward because the waitress did not have a very pleasant or inviting attitude; she stood there glaring as we reviewed the bill and figured out the payment method. There was a serious lack of communication (not due to a language barrier; we are a Spanish-speaking family) and an unnecessary, blasé and mean demeanor from the waitress on Mother's Day.

The matcha latte is a matcha ice cub bear and the hot chocolate is a chocolate iced bear. The idea is that as you sip your drink and the normal ice cubes melt, your drink won't be diluted because you also have more of the drink flavor blending in at the same time. For the hot chocolate, the bear helped to cool down the overall drink which made it a perfect sipping temperature for my 3 year old. Overall, great brunch spot, would highly recommend!

The French toast was definitely the standout for me -- really flavorful and well done. The waffle had a nice crisp texture, and the croffle was buttery with good flavor as well. The bacon unfortunately missed the mark. It was very limp and chewy instead of crispy, almost like it had been boiled rather than cooked properly. Face ordered the California Omelette, which came with potatoes topped with a garlic pesto situation that was honestly really good. For drinks, I had the caramel latte, which was decent but could've used a little more sweetness. Face ordered the strawberry matcha latte, which had an adorable bear-shaped matcha ice cube on top -- super cute presentation -- though she also felt it could've used a bit more strawberry flavor and sweetness.
