I had a lovely stay at the Royal Hotel these last several days, and I wanted to make sure that the innkeepers get their credit on Yelp!
The service and the food especially deserve mention. Everything that we ate was delicious--from the fish and chips, to the lamb shank, to the scones with clotted cream and jam, to the bacon and Brie baguette, which was to die for.
The service while eating was fantastic--ask for Chrissie if you can, whom I very highly recommend. She was super attentive, kind, friendly, and totally on top of what she was doing. She took such good care of us. Everyone who helped us was lovely though, so don't worry f you don't get Chrissie.
As for our room, the room itself had good amenities in terms of a great view and a small kitchen included (we were in Flat 5 which has a double bed and two twins, if that helps anyone). The only thing I must mention as a star off was my bed itself, which was quite hard. Maybe you like hard beds though--some people do.
The view from the room and from the pub, restaurant, and lobby are gorgeous; definitely spend some time staring at the sea if you can. The hotel is right on the seafront, so nothing obscures it.
There is shopping close by on London Road, just a couple blocks from the hotel. You'll find practical stops like a Superdrug and grocery store, as well as clothing and more touristy shops.
Overall, a delightful and peaceful place. read more
