I like a nice comfy hotel with a huge room, beds made of the feathers of some bird raised specifically to cradle me while I sleep, and televisions that could be used by Mission Control if a moon-shot broke out. The Ambassador wasn't that, not at all, but it was a very nice place for a couple of nights.
The room we had, right off the lobby, was small, cozy and neatly kept. The window looked out on pretty much nothing, certainly not the grey sea just a block or so away, but there was a nice bathroom behind a rolling door, a small television and a bed that was just comfortable enough for me to get some beauty rest.
The real key here is the breakfast. It's amazing how a delicious breakfast can make or break a place, and this one made it and made it in spades. I had the bacon, which in the states would have been called a pork chop. It was fantastic! The mushrooms that came with it were also amazing. I don't like eggs, and they were kind enough to give me sausages instead. The breads were good, everything was fresh, well-prepared and came with all due speed. I loved it.
I'd stay here again if I ever make it back to Brighton. read more
