The whole place is so beautiful and the grounds are absolutely breathtaking. The staff are in no way snobby at all which makes a huge difference and they were more than happy to keep the bar open late when we returned from our wedding. The cooked beakfast in the morning was extremely well needed and perfectly cooked. Its not the cheapest place to stay but worth every single penny!

I arrived on Sunday morning and was happy to find that my room was ready and I was able to check in straight away. My room was nice and clean, the room was very floral and the facilities were a bit dated, such as the 80's style spa bath and the security box in the wall! But that didn't bother me too much, it all adds to the charm! I did see inside other rooms that were being cleaned and they aren't all so dated and floral! Downstairs you are able to have breakfast/lunch and cream teas and the seats all looks very fancy and comfortable. As it was nice weather during my visit there were also lots of people sitting outside. I didn't sample the breakfast as I needed my sleep more, but I expect it would be lovely. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. I did think the room was slightly overpriced (£135pn through hotels.com), but as the location was great for the wedding I was attending I didn't mind so much.

Service variable and as yesterday it was quicker to take the bill to the bar rather than wait at the table on the off-chance that someone might pass by. As for the food, I asked for a well done burger but everything was pretty well done, it was ok and the chilli chips (was that it?) were hot...ok but not exciting. Again, I doubt there will be a chance of a repeat performance

We stayed in the Wey room (room #1) which was small, but very lovely. The bed was super comfortable and covered in loads of pillows. We were provided with plenty of towels, a bathrobe and slippers. The hot drink selection was great with a variety of teas and some instant hot chocolate that was actually really nice! Free Wifi was available which is always a plus. The bathroom is pretty tiny, but nothing too unmanageable. Everything was new, clean and modern. Our hairdryer only worked for 1 minute bursts and then seemed to overheat. My partner said she could hear a bit of music from the pub below, but I couldn't hear it at all. In any case, they closed by midnight on a Saturday night which isn't at all unreasonable. We tried two cocktails. The bartender lady made one that was completely different than what we asked for, but was still quite nice. We both loved a passionfruit cocktail! The next morning we went downstairs for breakfast. There was a small amount of cold cereal and fruit on a spread, and a full and varied menu for hot food. I have celiac disease and had enquired about the dinner at the Swan before I knew that my girlfriend had booked it as our accommodation, and they were one of the only restaurants of the 10 I emailed in Arundel who responded to my request for gluten free menu items. While we did not end up having dinner here, the helpfulness continued into breakfast. Our server was very lovely and communicated with the kitchen to provide me with a gluten free fry up. They substituted sausage for more bacon, which is always appreciated! And they even had gluten free toast. I had a lovely meal! Overall, I loved the Swan Hotel. It's perhaps a bit pricey considering how small our room was, but I also understand that for a nice, boutique hotel in the middle of a touristy town, that it was probably market value. I would definitely return and recommend it to friends!

Each of the 10 rooms is unique and the common areas throughout this historic building are attractively appointed with maritime photos, pictures, artifacts, and books celebrating the city and its shipping industry. The restaurant provides a very hearty breakfast and in the evening, serves delicious English fare.

With rooms on three floors, take the stairs and you'll be pleasantly surprised by the elegant sweeping 18th century Adam staircase; on the walls - of the first floor - you'll discover memorabilia dating back to the time of the original owner, Admiral George Murray, who served with Nelson. Bedrooms are sympathetically restored, with an unobtrusive modern touch, in warm neutral tones. There's a flat-screen TV on the wall, comfy chairs to relax in, a good supply of quality wooden hangers (although only wall hooks, rather than a closed wardrobe) to hang your clothes on and a sleek, efficient kettle together with tea and coffee supplies to prepare hot drinks with. The bathroom is simple and white, comfortable enough (and very clean) with courtesy (ginseng-enriched) products. Rooms still use a traditional key system and have a name as well as a number. I was concerned that sounds from the (quite noisy) old-fashioned, gate-style, lift might be intrusive but happily that wasn't the case. Views from my window (at the back of the hotel) were of buildings and the car park with verdant hills in the distance. Reception staff were efficient, smiling, helpful, welcoming and obliging. Well-deserved of its three star rating; decent value (even better if you get a special offer deal) and a very pleasant, convenient place to stay in the centre of Chichester and for access to other parts of West Sussex.

The location is ideal: within the old city walls and a very short walk from the market cross which marks the town centre. The building itself is part of Chichester history, and has been sympathetically restored. As well as the rather grand staircase, there is an old-fashioned lift (the sort with a sliding gate). Staff were really friendly and helpful. Breakfast included a full English along with a buffet of pastries, meat and cheese, cereal and fruit. This was eaten in The Place, a brasserie at lunch- and dinner-times; there is an adjoining bar with open fire.

This is like a step back in time but with all the comforts of modern day luxury. We stayed one night in a deluxe suite which was HUGE, and had the best ensuite bathroom I have ever seen. Not even the Cafe Royal in London comes close. That night we had drinks in the garden courtyard, followed by the most exquisite meal we have ever had. We LOVE our food - but this was a gastronomical experience we will never forget. It is a degustation - you will feel like you have to be rolled out of there. The portions are small but there are more than 10 courses, each one getting progressively better and more beautiful. It's expensive - save it for a special occasion. The chef is a master. Also if you get a chance, the little tea room in the village is PERFECTION. We had afternoon tea there with scones, home made strawberry jam and clotted cream. Go for a walk to wear the food coma off. The grounds are like something out of a picture book. There's a terrace on the outside of the wall for sunset viewing.
