Fireplace: Majestic Jade 42 in direct vent gas This year using the remote, the fireplace wouldn't turn on the vent system and fireplace. Called several companies who said they would not service and found one who charged me $250 to diagnosis the problem and said I needed a new control module and wanted to charge me $2200 with no guarantees that would solve the problem. I was like dude.. the fireplace itself is $3000... why am I not getting a brand new fireplace then... I asked them to itemize the estimate ... no response. So I called up Harry at Royal Fireplace the day after Thanksgiving and he immediately referred me to Juan. Juan came over the next day and he immediately diagnosed the problem as a faulty remote. He had a new one with him and used it to continue to troubleshoot and make sure the fireplace and venting system were working properly. He checked the wiring, the venting to the outside and the venting system under the house. He cleaned everything. And all that was $450 including the new remote. Highly recommend!! read more

Communicating with them was very difficult.. Harry wouldn't make a definitive appointment even when I said it could be a few weeks out and he didn't understand what I was saying when I said I couldn't open my flue. I wouldn't recommend them from my experience.. read more

If you need guidance through the process of selecting a fireplace for a new build or a post-fire rebuild (like me), DO NOT GO HERE! Such a huge waste of time and I came with my plan set!!! Terrible. Go elsewhere. Anywhere else. read more

Harry was helpful and informative. We purchased the logs and crate for our gas fireplace- everything was delivered and installed the same day. Installation by Armik was efficient and clean. Highly recommend. read more

My contractor bought an outdoor gas fireplace through this company. The fireplace failed within 2 years, which isn't the reason for the poor review. I tried calling this company to find someone who could service the fireplace, figure out why it wasn't working and fix. They gave me some other guy's number, who won't pick up or return any calls or voicemails. They say they have no other service technician that they work with. For a company where we spent several thousands of dollars on a gas fireplace box with, the customer service was abysmal. No intent to help or support getting the unit serviced. If you are a homeowner, I would recommend steering clear of this company. If you are a contractor, on behalf of your clients, I would recommend not working with this company. read more

Had a good selection, knowledgable, answered my questions and made good recommendations. Easy to work with.

Harry seems very sincere and takes care of his customers. He and his brother in law helped me replacing a gas burner with a remote control. Appreciated that they drove 70 miles to my cabin on San Bernardino mountains, of course with additional price which I am very happy to pay to the right person. read more

We visited Royal Fireplace based on the reviews in Yelp and were not disappointed. We wanted to convert to a gas fireplace and Harry was very helpful with suggestions without being pushy. We purchased the system with remote and a mantel. We chose the following weekend for installation. The day of installation Armik arrived on schedule. He cleaned the firebox, installed the gas unit while taking time to thoroughly explain lighting the unit and using the remote. He then install the new mantel. My only regret is we didn't do this years ago. Thank you Harry and Armik. read more

Great Service, Great Prices! We went to Royal Fireplace yesterday and met Harry, the owner. He was very knowledgeable, kind, and caring, while he helped us choose the right log set for our fireplace. We had been to a few other places, and were told that the installation would take 1-4 weeks, so when Harry said he could send his brother-in-law Armik to install it the next day we bought the chosen set immediatly. Armik came this morning to install the set, and he was wonderful. He has been doing this for over 20 years, so in less than an hour we had our beautiful new fireplace set working and warming our family room. He also explained everything he was doing while he worked, which I appreciated. He is funny and a was a pleasure to have in our home. Royal Fireplace is now our "go to" store for everything fire related. Thank you Harry and Armik for a great experience. read more

When you go to purchase they are very nice and helpful. He stated someone would come out and measure. I had measurements and photos. They of course ask for a deposit. Then it doesn't take two weeks, they don't call. You have to call to get a delivery date, though they said they would call in two weeks. They called 30 minutes before coming to install. It doesn't fit well. Installer becomes impatient, he says no one is going to check the fireplace screen that closely. They called me to collect the rest of the money, I told him I wasn't happy with the fireplace screen. Paying over $1000 for a screen that doesn't fit well, it's ridiculous. But of course he didn't offer to fix it. He just wanted the money. Paid him, would never recommend this place. read more

I am so thankful for Mr. Harry and Mr. Armik! We recently completed a full home remodel and the one thing that was still lingering was the fireplace mantel. I had an idea of what I wanted and looked around. The fireplace I came across was Royal Fireplace. From the moment I contacted them, I knew I can trust them. They're very quick and so professional with what they do. Their work is beautiful!!! What I had in mind they created. I will 1000% recommend them and looking forward to working with them when I do work in my backyard. You guys are wonderful! read more

They're not licensed or insured for rooftop work so they can't actually inspect your chimney cap or perform exterior repairs even though they'll tell you on the phone they can. Basically, they can paint your fireplace black again or hardsell you new ceramic logs. And they want you to pay a fee to come out and tell you that. Complete clowns. read more

Amazing! I wanted new doors for our fireplace from a specific manufacturer. Harry and Armik worked with me from beginning to end and also worked with the manufacturer to make sure the measurements were just right. The before and after photos speak for themselves. We also painted the interior and replaced the logs and the rocks. Thank you for everything we are so happy with the end result! read more

Very fast response. Harry is knowledgeable and friendly. He sent someone to measure and prepare us for a custom made set of glass doors for our fireplace and conversion to gas from a wood burning hearth. It looks beautiful. I'll post a photo when the custom doors arrive. read more

We had a wonderful experience at Royal Fireplace. Harry, the owner is very knowledgeable and provided us with the guidance we needed to make our purchase. Armik, the installer was also wonderful. He installed our new fireplace yesterday and did a fabulous job. He explained the process before he got started and he walked us through the dos and don't of lighting the fireplace. The new fireplace is the highlight of our living room. I would highly recommend Royal Fireplace to anyone who is looking for a great experience. read more

Highly Recommend! We contacted them for a gas fire log replacement! Excellent response offering next day appointment. Armenchk the installer completed the job in about 20 minutes. Unbelievable unprofessional service by Mike. I was charged $4500 for the fireplace and during installation Mike failed to cover the area with plastic sheeting and got black paint all over the stone fireplace and on our brand new floor. He told me to clean it up with soap and water myself(!). It won't come off and now the floor and stone fireplace are stained. Also refused to install the valve covers on the floor as agreed in the scope of work. Mike also made us carry all the logs and equipment downstairs which he should have done himself. Mike charged me $50 cash for a couple of gas valve keys which are only a few dollars at Home Depot. To add insult to injury the pilot stopped working after less than two weeks and our contractor spent half a day trying to re-light it. Mike finally agreed after an hour on the phone that something is wrong with it. So the fancy fireplace is now completely unusable. Mikes response was "it's not my fault....". It is his fault. Stunning incompetence and sloppiness followed by childish excuses. Avoid Royal Fireplace in Pasadena like the plague unless you want to get ripped off and have your house destroyed. Hours say open till 6. Drove all the way and arrived before 5:30. Doors locked lights out no one in sight. Not cool.

When I walked in I was delighted to discover they had the part I was looking for, a 12 inch Blue Flame Gas Valve Key. The prior two hardware stores I visited only had 8 inch and my current key was broken. I showed it to the fellow behind the counter and smiled when he showed me he had the replacement. He told me it was $30. I told him that seemed like a lot, but he said that was the price so I paid it, otherwise our fireplace wouldn't work. When I later searched the item online, I saw it as low as $10 and as high as $16. I don't mind a neighborhood boutique taking a bit more margin for convenience - that's why I support small local shops - but 3x the low and 2x the high price isn't a great way to win a customer. I guess he could tell I was a fish out of water for the moment. Instead of making me a customer for life by solving my problem, he got this review. I hope the extra margin was worth it. read more

I have nothing but good things to say about Harry and Royal Fireplace & Patio. I bought a grate from there recently and a set of fireplace tools. The high quality of the products and the service justify my decision not to go to the Home Depot much closer to my house. read more

We were looking for fireplace mesh or hanging screen for our fireplace. It wasn't easy to find, but this little shop had it. Great service! I am so glad we found this store and made our purchase there. The owner is very personable, and the store is filled with ANYTHING one might need for a fireplace, from high end to the humble screens in a variety of sizes. Fireplace fixtures don't require much turn-over, but I will return or refer people to this store if a need arises. read more

Terrible. Went out of my way ready to buy... Walked in - One guy there - i assume the owner - he had to have heard me, but out of my view; heard him on the phone ranting (to an installer or supplier I think). Waited 10 minutes, walked behind the open wall so he could see me, knocked on his office door, he wouldn't even look up, waited a little longer... His OTHER phone rang, he walked out, put the first guy on hold and answered it! Never making eye contact or acknowledging me! AM I INVISIBLE? Terrible businessman! Methinks DEFINITELY not. read more

What can you say... Harry and Armik were amazing.... prices so fare and straight forward. But seriously the service INCREDIBLE!!! We went in on Saturday (today) at 2:20pm and bought gas ceramic set up, and to have our inside of fireplace painted, and asked if by chance it could be installed today kind of laughing thinking probably impossible. They made it happen just 2 hours later... amazing! Looks great! Thank you sooooo much!!!! read more

THE GOOD: Harry is a friendly guy who does attempt to please his customers. THE BAD: Low quality subcontractor work (3,000 dollars and over 2 months left us with a sub standard tile job, a hastily installed mantel, broken hardwood floors and busted plaster walls) I did ask Harry for 500 dollars off the bill for the damage, to which he did comply. BOTTOM LINE: It's fine to buy fireplace related products from his store, but do not expect him capable to do any custom work as far as tiling or installing mantels. read more

Great Selection. Friendly Service. Since there is only one guy in the shop, you can wait around a little bit. It is worth it. Installation was quick and the job done is good. Prices are fair and they are very knowledgable about their products. Highly Recommend. read more

We first stopped in to buy a chimney cap to keep the rain out and purchased one for a reasonable price. The salesman showed me how to install it. While we were there we looked around the shop and noticed the gas log sets. One display was burning and it really looked real and felt warm. I've never been a fan of gas logs but this one looked very realistic. A few months later on a rainy day with no dry firewood we went back to look at the gas log displays. The salesman was helpful and we showed him a photo of our fireplace and he looked at the measurements and showed us which ones would fit. We had a discount card we received in the mail which he honored. We made our purchase and the owner said he have it installed by tonight! The installer came over a few hours later, in the rain, and an hour later we were sitting by our new warm gas log fire. No more wet firewood, smoke, sparks. Instant fire, we love it and use it a lot this time of year. read more

Harry gave me a decent deal and our new fireplace is nice and works well. However, I was extremely disappointed because we had agreed they would clean out the fireplace before installation as it was filthy with construction dust. I made it clear to Harry that I was very concerned about toxic dust and showed him photos to indicate how dirty it was. But when his brother-in-law arrived to do the work he knew nothing about a need for cleaning and asked to borrow my vacuum! Uh, NO. He swept it out by hand but it was not the professional job I was expecting. read more

Bad Repair Experience! 3 yrs ago these guys got my gas logs working again ... but it felt awkward because the family was arguing about whether to repair or replace the part. Eventually they got it fixed. Fast forward 3 years: My pilot light suddenly died recently and I phoned SoCal Gas Co. He said "need new thermocouple". OK, so I called Royal again and they eagerly came out and reached the same conclusion. Armik left saying they would order the part and get back to me. A week and a half later I phoned to see where things were, and Harry now says he can't get the part, but refers me to the distributer. I talk to the distributer -- who was very helpful about educating me on gas log fireplaces -- and he said the part IS available, so I go back to Harry thinking there was some confusion. My Friday message was ignored, but I caught him on Monday and he basically admitted they did not "want" to fix it. Wow. Telling me that 2 weeks earlier would have saved a lot of MY time and energy. Again, I come away feeling that they are very unprofessional regarding repairs. This was the nutshell story, all the minor irritation along the way would be to much to report. The distributor has referred me to another resource, so I'm hoping for better luck. What Harry doesn't know, is I am actually considering replacing the unit. Obviously, I will not be shopping from them when it happens. read more

Came here to get some wood logs for my fireplace. I also asked harry the owner if he can install fireplace glass doors on my two fireplaces. He told me he would come on sunday to measure. I called again on monday and finally he anwers the phone. Asked him what happen and he said he forgot. Then I asked him if there is another time he could come and he told me he would call me and that was back in November. I still have not received a phone call from him. never knew there were stores dedicated to fireplaces... that is until we needed to babyproof the house and finally decided to get a door for our fireplace - nobody wants a baby-que!! i knew our opening was not a standard size so did a little online research. there wasnt much and i had too many questions, so i gave royal fireplace a visit. harry was really helpful and gave us several options. his prices were way better than what i found online for custom doors. he personally did all the measurements. it took a few weeks to come in, but it was worth it. i asked him why the fireplace wasnt emitting much heat - turns out it was just a wood starter burner, not an actual gas fireplace burner, so had him swap that out too. now it looks great and actually provides warmth! read more
