The service was awesome it was a little bit of a wait but well worth it. Product was fresh and establishment very clean.

Don't miss this stop on your road trip! The donuts are great, the coffee is hot and strong and the ladies who work there are absolutely lovely. Whatever flavor you choose you can't go wrong. They are open early every day of the week and they have a drive through if you are still in your pajamas:)

This landmark has been in business for over 40 years, serving donuts, donut cakes and coffee. I was very pleased to find a donut shop that's loved by the locals. The blueberry donut cakes and chocolate eclair are local favorites. I took a big bit of the blueberry cake tasted like a blueberry muffin in donut form. It's a brilliant idea because it was just the right amount of sweetness and didn't feel and tasted greasy like most donuts. The racks were full and donuts were neatly arranged. Clean and staff are friendly and helpful. The are open until 10PM.

The Royal Donut is a classic, a staple of my childhood on the way to school, on the way home from church, a saturday morning, a weekday in the summer. I used to run across the street as a kid from my dads workshop when they still had a location on north & hazel. I'd order a half dozen donut holes & a chocolate milk and sit at one of the little canopy tables. The windows were all glass and my dad could see me sitting in there the whole time, we were such regulars the workers and regulars knew me too. The shop was a welcome relief in the summer, baking in the summer heat i'd walk in the shop with its little bell and suddenly my sun drenched skin was covered in a cool blanket while I enjoyed my little treat. After that location closed we frequented the fairchild & vermillion location via the drive through. Always friendly, always fresh donuts. This place is nostalgia and sugary goodness to the core.

I got a smoked turkey with colby and pickles on rye bread (don't judge) and there was plenty of everything on the sandwich. My pumpkin whoopie pie was amazing, as was my peach hand pie (they had several other) and the cheese bread. Definitely a good place to stop and get some good food and snacks. They're know for their "eclair" donut and cinnamon rolls. The coffee is so-so, but the donuts are amazing. I haven't had a bad one yet. They're large, and have a nice, thick layer of icing. The service was kind of slow....when we arrived, we were the only ones in the entire place but the woman at the counter ignored us for a good 5 minutes before approaching the counter to ask how she could help us. We stood there for so long that we almost gave up and sat down without ordering anything. The place was empty when we got there around 8pm, but a few others filtered in to have coffee and donuts later in the night. I got a blueberry donut (about $1.50 ish) and my housemates got a cup of coffee. They said that the coffee was decent but not amazing. The donut had a yummy blueberry flavor but was a little stale and I could tell it wasn't fresh--it'd probably been made early in the morning. The wifi was strong and fast (ask the lady at the front for the password). There's a drive-through for your convenience if you want to pick up donuts without parking and sitting down inside. Later in the week my co-workers brought in a couple of fresh boxes of donuts from here in the morning and they were so much better! They were still warm and chewy on the inside, and the donuts filled with cream burst delectably in your mouth. I definitely recommend picking up some donuts from here in the morning when they're fresh out of the oven. Going there in person...not so much, unless you're desperate for some internet and a quiet place to study or read.

My guests agreed, because I got rave reviews on the cake. The buttercream is so light and not overly sugary, it almost tastes like whipped cream. The fillings are also all fresh and yummy. Now, I'm a big fan of dropping in to pick up a 7" cake or some individually wrapped cupcakes, or ordering ahead of I want to be sure to get a certain flavor combination. Those are new. I want one!" (The $5.50 stuffed cupcakes are jumbo, about twice the size of a standard one, and have fillings injected into the cake!) - "Brown sugar oatmeal is still available! Love the torched, burnt flavor of the coconut topping!" - "Petit fours!!!" - "Pretty packaging." (My 3 selections - in their individual plastic cupcake holders - were placed inside a colorful, floral printed plastic bag. Nice touch.) Standard gourmet cupcakes are $3 now, and more flavors are available than I recalled. I've recently also tried lemon lime, salted caramel, and peanut butter mousse. Generally, I'm not a huge buttercream fan, as it usually is too heavy on the butter for me, so the lemon lime and salted caramel were not my absolute faves. If I lived in this area, I would definitely want Ashlee to make my wedding or any special occasion cake!
