My healthy chix and broccoli in a pool of oil. Yuvk!
Marlyn V.

Yes, I get Chinese food is not meant to be mind blowing, but this is below mediocre. I came here for lunch and ordered General Tso Chicken that swam in a puddle of oil in my styrofoam plate. If I am eating artery clogging food, I don't want to see the oil ooze out of it. My rice was lackluster as well. And as a lover of egg rolls, I also would like my egg rolls to have more than just boiled cabbage in them. And please, do fry them til they are crispy loaves of heaven, do not give me soft, anemic looking ones. I will not be returning, nope, not even drunk.

The first time I had their chicken I fell in love. I just ordered it again for the second time and but into something oddly hard. Not entirely sure what it is but it's some sort of thing small metal string. Afraid to keep eating my chicken now.

Royal Chef is much bigger inside than it appears from outside. There are actually ten tables for dining in, so it is more than just a takeout joint. I stopped in for a late lunch and ordered from the lunch menu (General Tso's Chicken, Fried Rice, Broccoli with a bowl of Wonton Soup). The soup was actually the strongest part of the lunch. The chicken consume base was tasty, and the wontons, although somewhat thick skinned, actually had a decent flavor, too. The general's chicken was a large mound of amber glossed bird nuggets. About half of them were the right texture and taste, while the others were either too thickly skinned, or too crunchy to enjoy. Could not always taste the meat within. The fried rice was a large helping with adequate veggies to keep it interesting. Of course, the broccoli florets were there for decoration more than consumption. The meal was just okay overall. I appreciated that there was a dining room where I could sit and eat lunch. It would have been even better if they used real plates and flatware, rather than styro and plastic, and a take out container for the soup. Service was provided by the cashier who was attractive and pleasant to all customers. The sign out front is worn and faded, and could use a little TLC to keep the shop from looking worse than it is. A little fresh paint and relettering would make China Chef a more upbeat place to chow down (no pun intended).

Lovely family owned business who has consistently great food. Pork dumplings are some of the best I've had in the area

I ordered different Chinese dishes since this place was close to the hotel that we were staying at.

Food is okay but for lunch you get a lot of rice and a small portion of the entree. Staff friendly.

Great chicken wings and fried rice. My go to for Chinese food when in the Ewing area.

Good food. I got the pork fried rice and fried chicken. It was cooked well and is what you would expect from an American Chinese restaurant.

This place is disgusting! I ordered vegetable fried rice and the rice was old and crusty. I will never eat here again!

For this year's Chinese New Year, I decided to take the family there for our New Year dinner, and the food was just as good as I remembered. The place hasn't changed a bit, the decor still looks exactly how I remember it, which brought back memories. Since some of my family and friends don't enjoy the same spice level as I do, we adjusted the heat for dinner, and everything still came out fantastic. We ordered the whole steamed fish, happy fish, green beans, tea smoked duck, pork chop, beef pan fried noodles, and more. Every dish was delicious, and the flavors were spot on. The service was a bit tentative at times, but the quality of the food definitely made up for it. Overall, it was a wonderful meal and a great way to celebrate. I definitely need to come back more often.

Ordered lunch via GrubHub from here and it was solid…read more The lunch special entrees are great and they come with your choice of rice and then a choice between soup or egg roll as well. It seems that both the pepper steak and chicken with broccoli were in the same sauce (& I've actually found that to be common in this area for some reason) but were tasty overall. The egg roll was quite greasy and the wonton soup was pretty solid with the broth being the star. Oh the white rice was cooked how I expect and wish all Chinese white rice is cooked so that's a plus. Overall a true 3.5 star rating but since halves aren't possible I had to go to 3 because it certainly wasn't a 4.

Excellent take out Chinese cuisine from a local place in a strip mall in ewing NJ. Love the Hong…read moreKong style noodles with chicken, hot and sour soup, general tso's, king pao, steamed dumplings and many other standard take out dishes. The food is always solid. If you are expecting New York or San Francisco Chinatown, then you should reset your expectations as that is not a fair standard to set. The portions are generous and food is tasty. I'm a decade plus customer. Let me tell you, this place blows away many of the strip mall Chinese restaurants I went to in the Bay Area when I lived there recently. Sure, every now and then something could have been off, but the majority of the time, this place delivers. You can dine in, which is fine, but we mostly take it to go. I believe if your order exceeds a certain amount, you can have a free 2L or other item for free. The staff are great. The owners are wonderful and if the lady owner recognizes you as a return customer, she is very welcoming. Four stars is a great rating as I hold a very high standard. I wish they offered pineapple fried rice and onion cakes. But I suppose you can't have it all

When I went into the Fu Wah restaurant as Asian American I expected the food to be excellent. From…read morethe over stocked sodas by the fridge and the kids of the owners in the kitchen helping it looks like it would be the best Asian food ever. However as I went into the restaurant at 5:30 on a Monday the restaurant was completely empty. As I looked at the menu (shown on picture 3&4) it was all in English and was far too large. The menu being only in English is not a bad thing but however it is a indication of how the food will be. I ordered a hot and spicy beef combo plate that comes with a egg roll and pork fried rice and it took around 5-10 minutes for it to come out (relatively fast). The meal it's self was just ok. What really stood out was the pork fried rice. It was fragrant and fluffy full of flavor. The hot and spicy beef was packed with vegetables (onions a little under cooked but I enjoyed them) but was also just salty and was not spicy at all. And the egg roll was stale and was like it was re-deep fried. Overall I would come back to Fu Wah. Even thought I thought the food was mediocre I feel like the pork fried rice was to die for and for the price it was not too bad.
