Wow. Awesome bagels! Perfect toast on em, taste so freshly made. I forgot what a fresh warm bagel tasted like. Packed with the right amount of cream cheese, not skimped. Gotta try their bacon and coffee next time.

Been coming here for 10 years. Family owned and operated, very nice people. When it's busy, be prepared to wait because EVERYTHING IS MADE TO ORDER!!!!! If you are so impatient, just call in advance and place an order! It can sometimes be only one person making the food, even when it's busy ! Every time I call, they recognize my voice and my order. These people care about their customers. Come and enjoy a bagel sandwich, and support a local small business!

Excellent service, family takes their time and effort to deliver delicious 'home cooked' bagel sandwiches + others. Very sweet couple that were more than helpful. Homestyle bagel shop aesthetic. Excellent hidden gem

Left is B1 (sausage, egg, cheese) on a jalapeño cheddar bagel. Right is B4 (bacon, cream cheese, egg, cheese) on a jalapeño cheddar bagel.

Stopped by here for lunch right after landing in LA and it was packed with a lunch rush. We ordered…read morethe pastrami dip, pastrami burger, small fries, and onion rings. The pastrami burger and onion rings were the highlights for me. The onion rings were super crispy with a nice, light batter. The burger hit the spot too. The fries were a bit underwhelming though, kind of bland and definitely needed more seasoning. Overall, a solid stop if you're craving pastrami, but I'd skip the fries next time.

Let's get one thing straight--The Hat isn't just good... it's the kind of place that makes every…read moreoverpriced, overhyped sandwich shop look completely ridiculous. I ordered the pastrami dip, and this is how it's supposed to be done. Not dry, not chewy, not some sad excuse for deli meat. This was juicy, tender, stacked high, and absolutely dripping with flavor. Every bite hits hard--rich, savory, and perfectly balanced. And the bread? Holds together like it actually wants to be part of the sandwich, not fall apart halfway through like a soggy mess. Now let's talk about the onion rings... because this is where they flex. You order a "large," and instead of some tiny portion pretending to be generous, they hand you a brown paper bag absolutely PACKED with crispy, golden onion rings. Not greasy, not limp--crunchy, hot, and seasoned properly. This is what a large is supposed to look like. Other places should be embarrassed. And the service? Fast, efficient, no nonsense. No attitude, no confusion, no standing around wondering what's going on. These people know exactly what they're doing. Orders come out quick, everything's hot, and the whole operation runs like a machine. That's how you handle volume without sacrificing quality--something a lot of places clearly can't figure out. No gimmicks. No trendy nonsense. No tiny portions dressed up to look fancy. Just big, bold, properly executed food that actually delivers on what it promises. Meanwhile, other spots are out here charging double for half the portion and calling it "premium." Stop it. This is the standard. Bottom line: If you want a real pastrami sandwich, real portions, and service that actually keeps up--go to The Hat. If not, go waste your money somewhere else. I'll be back. And next time, I'm getting another bag of those onion rings--because clearly, one isn't enough.

My husband corrected them twice on his name. When we showed up there the next day, they called my husband while we were there asking if we were showing up. Of course they called the wrong name! So we waited extra. When we finally ordered our food , it was not the Brent's we had come to expect. I ordered the grilled cheese I was craving for Mother's Day (it was excellent before) and it was smashed, cold and underwhelming. I didn't send it back, I should have but everyone looked extremely overwhelmed. We were also moved to accommodate a bigger party. We were not asked. We were told. That rubbed us all the wrong way. After this meal, my mother in law wanted challah, I felt like we were bothering them at the counter. The whole experience was disappointing and expensive and underwhelming. I don't think any of us will be going back any time soon.

Stupid good. Bread's legit, meat's piled up like they're trying to protect you from starvation trauma, and everything tastes fresh like somebody's nonna is in the back judging your life choices. One bite and you're like... yeah ok, I get why people act feral about this place. But the line? Chaos. Not "organized deli line," more like "everyone just kinda vibes near the counter and hopes they get noticed." You'll see one dude who's been standing there 8 minutes pretending he's fine but he's clearly spiraling. And there's always someone ordering like it's their last meal: "Can I do the #7 but no onions, extra peppers, sauce on the side, cut it like triangles, and tell it I'm proud of it?" Relax, it's a sandwich, not a therapy session. Prices aren't cheap, but neither is happiness, so whatever. Overall: 4.5/5. The sandwich portions are hefty and they are well loaded. We felt like we got our money's worth in freshness and quantity. The veggie sandwich was a bit bland and needed a better balance of ingredients. But the chicken parmigiana sandwiches were packed with flavor, as was the Italian cold cut sandwich. My recommendation for this place would be to improve on the quality of the bread they use as it lacks flavor or richness. Put those ingredients on real sourdough bread or focaccia and it would be a very memorable sandwich. To the owner: we visited your lovely home town, as mentioned in your business profile, while we were in Rome a few years ago and had the most unforgettable pizzette rosse while there. Beautiful lake scenery and weather. Interesting coincidence : )

My friends and I were in town for an event in Thousand Oaks and looked up a deli. This was one of the choices, so if we went to discover what could be discovered. Low and behold, we were very pleasantly surprised by the variety and the quality and the service. Maria was our server and she was amazing and I can't tell you how she made the experience that much more positive because every answer to our questions were yes, and I'm sure we can do that. She brought out some bagel chips and ranch dressing and pickles to start with and Man if that doesn't wet your whistle and make you want to order everything, you're not doing it right. We ordered a variety of things a couple of Ortega corned beef sandwiches and a turkey sandwich and a pastrami sandwich. We paid for our orders and then landed in the bakery area upfront. Of course, all of us had to take a little something home to our husband's because we were feeling quite plump and satisfied to not share the experience with our spouses. We walked away with some blueberry pie and an eclair and some muffins and quite a bit more. We're already planning our next trip. We will be there this weekend. And as we sit here, midweek, contemplating all of the delicious options we can take advantage of, we are trying to convince ourselves whether we should go there on Thursday and Friday and Saturday while we are in town. What a delicious dilemma to have heads off to the people that run this place and make sure that the quality still goes. To be honest with you, someone wrote in another review that they were surprised at this place wasn't busy. I hope this review gets out there and people figure out what they need to do...
