Clark & Kent? Calvin & Klein? Clefairy & Kabuto? Calvin & Katy?…read more Ooooooooooooooooh Calvin & Katy. So, it's basically a butcher, inside the Amish Market in rural Maryland, and their specialty is Jerky. In that sense it reminds me of Czuchraj meats in the West Side Market of Cleveland, which is my fave Jerky in the world. Or one that I tried at Brewfest in Buffalo which was amazing. This jerky is more bland and less good than the aforementioned, and since the service of my jerky wasn't too friendly (surprisingly), I'll stick with 4. It is good jerky though and well worth a try if you're a fan of this type of preserved meat. Speaking of preserved meat...

I bought a half dozen male crabs. They didn't have my preferred male jumbo crabs. But they did have these heavy and deliciously FULL males for $50 a dozen. I don't do more than half a dozen, but they were worth it. The only thing that I didn't like was that if you bought less than a dozen, then they'd have to be live, requiring you to steam them yourself. Thankfully, I already had a pot being as though I have a catering business, @withthesehands20602, yes, shameless plug , so I was already prepared. Daly's is located in a quaint neighborhood off Leonardtown Rd on Mitchellville, MD, with a beautiful view of the water at the end of the street. And the drive is peaceful and relaxing. After reading so many positive reviews, I succumbed to a groupon for the walking tour. If you buy…read morethe groupon, you get a great deal for 2 adults to take the tour, as well as a $10 credit at their farm store. Once you take a look at their store, you know there's no way you could leave here empty-handed. They sell steaks and chops from every farm animal you can think of, as well as fresh eggs and Amish butter rolls and aged raw milk cheese, and even kombucha. There is a clever young boy behind the cash register, and he will persuade you to buy everything in stock. Their items are very reasonably priced for grass-fed/free-range/happy meats and dairy products, especially when you're tired of paying too much at Whole Foods for lesser quality and freshness. If you have a genuine interest in learning how a farm works, then you would enjoy taking a tour here, as it's very informative. The manager, Amy, is a wonderful tour guide. She is very patient and will answer everyone's questions. We learned about how they rotate their farm animals to improve soil quality, and about what and how they feed the animals. I wouldn't recommend bringing kids here unless they are extremely interested in farms, and are very patient. Otherwise, they will be bored to tears and will ruin the fun for the farm dorks, like me. If you think this is a petting zoo, it's not. You will see plenty of farm animals running around and/or freely grazing, but it's understood that they don't want folks chasing those free range chickens around. The whole tour took over 2 hours, which was a little long for me, so I left a bit early to hit up the farm store before the rest of my tour group did. I even ordered one of their last turkeys for Thanksgiving, which I'm beyond stoked about. I'd highly recommend this tour. Be a little patient, and eat a big breakfast before you come. There are no lunch options within walking distance, so unless you plan on snacking on a hunk of cheese, you might get hungry after the drive and the walking tour and the ooohing and aaahing at these beautifully kept grounds.
