I had great bloody marys here today (with bacon!) and a good time watching football. It's a big Michigan bar, and they were really accomodating and put one of the tvs on the Chargers game, when the rest of the people were there for the 49ers. Not a bad little bar, but at the same time, not too memorable. If you're walking down the street, it's not a bad place to check out. It's got darts and an expensive Juke box, which seems a little out of place if you ask me. The bartenders are characters, so you might find yourself in a very interesting conversation, so I guess it has that going for it. I might revisit if I found myself in the area again. read more

Jeanette is amazing. She is not only attentive but she remembered me from almost 6 months ago. Incredible. They offer free BBQ during every big Bay Area sports game. How is that possible!!!! Basketball baseball and football. Not to mention USA soccer and everything else in between. The tap selection is incredible. A little heavy on the IPA but still legit. ONLY BAR IN THE BAY AREA THAT SERVES BOTH JOHNNY UTAH( point break reference) and space dust ! For those of you that appreciate a well thought out tap and not selling out, this is the spot. They have a pool table and and a shuffle board as well as a Juke box. Love the bar top( thick wood) and enough large t.v.'s to where I can see the game no matter where I'm at in the bar. BBQ is bomb. Great dive bar in San Mateo! Quaint, clean and attentive service from Leslie! They have a great selection of cd's they play, from "white boy music" to "reggae". Only negative is it's tough to find parking on this busy section of El Camino. read more

This place used to have fun themed nights and weekly games. There was an even balance of regulars. Now it feels over run with middle aged corporate douchebags who would rather spend less on drinks just to get away and watch sports games or talk about their jobs. I don't see much of a younger crowd, though I don't think that is their target clientele. It would be nice if they played more lively music and/or had more young people there. It would be a much better place if they got rid of the sports bar theme and made the drinks cheaper than dirt. I still like their beer selection though since the new ownership there is less variation of hand selected brews. Major gripe for me as a I really enjoyed their old selection more. read more

This place is okay! The shuffle board is awesome, although a bit titled to the left, so watch out for that if you are a serious player. Pool and darts complete this local bar, which is right on El Camino in San Mateo. For some odd reason the owner is obsessed with Michigan, like the university, not the state. So the whole bar is decked out in Michigan gear, I think his daughter goes there...Drinks are priced okay, with heavy pours :) Don't bother with with juke box, the bar tended has an iPod behind the bar, just ask them to switch it up if you're not feeling the music. OH! Also, they will totally set up a beer pong table for you! Just ask! read more

Route 92 is a comfy, unassuming place. It's never crowded, and the folks within are from all walks of life. Great beer selection and decent prices, along with pool table, shuffleboard, and Golden Tee. Plenty of space, lots of tv's, and a couple couches in a sort of "nook" area. There's also a back patio with some seating, but drinks can't be taken outside. Music isn't too loud, so conversations within are no problem. No food except the occasional bar nuts or chips, but you can bring food in or have a pizza delivered from elsewhere without a problem. All in all, a nice, chill place to have a beer and conversation. read more

Clueless Sometimes you run into a place that is just completely clueless and you wonder how places like that stay in business. Places that are so contemptuous of their customers that you are just amazed. i arrived here this morning at 9:15 am to watch a football game on opening sunday of the NFL season and was assured all games would be on. At 10am 4 of the 9 games appeared - is there an nfl sunday ticket that shows only half the games? When I requested the game I came to see the bartender told me the owner had programmed all 8 tvs on 4 games and I"d have to wait for him to return? This is a sports bar???? If you don't give a damn about what you want to watch and want some guy who set up the games absolutely oblivious to what any of his customers want this is the right place for you to bend over and receive your sports. Oh on top of it no breakfast is served on Sunday so bring your own breakfast as well. read more

Energy is really cool, owner is cool, tasty, free eats on Sunday rocks, atmosphere is pretty chill, nicely maintained... Nine televisions make it super easy to get a view of the game; the only turn off is the fake, long blonde hair girl - she is the 30-something, chubby bartender - she's cold/not nice (we wouldn't want to go in and hangout when she's the full on, main bartender). The 92 has a really excellent selection of quality beer both on tap and in bottles. Bar staff are friendly and fun to talk to. Cheap pool table usually available. Sunday's there's decent food that's free (hotdogs nachos etc). All in all a good option if you're looking for a dive bar that's not really divey. read more

I will say this much, the drinks are decent and reasonably priced. If you aren't a regualr there that kisses up to the owner and his bar maids then forget about good service. I evaluated the place for several months before moving onto another state. What I saw in there was much like other places that really only care about the amount of time and money spent in there. It doesn't really make you feel like you want to go back. I have found other places in AZ that are a lot better. New reviews to come. read more

I really enjoy coming to Route 92. For starters, the bartenders are pretty awesome. Jeanette always does her very best to make sure every customer feels welcome. She pays attention to all her customers and not just regulars or men, but EVERYONE. She gets to know her customers and in doing so she also ends up facilitating friendships between people with like interests. And she knows how to make fantastically yummy drinks! I don't see Bridget as much because of the days/times I come in, but she is really nice too. (and again, it is so refreshing having female bartenders that pay attention to female customers!) Every Wednesday night they also have a trivia night. The host, Lili, is wonderful. She does her best to keep the questions and categories interesting. She mixes things up each week so if one week she does history and that's not a topic you know, don't worry, the next week there might be a music category. Lili has a way of finding a nice balance of topics to engage people from all walks of life, personalities and interests. read more

Awesome spot with some rotating craft beer at cheaper prices than other bars around! I discovered this bar using untappd when my buddy and I wanted a new place to watch the super bowl that had a good beer selection. They had free food which I found out is for every football game and any local team playoff games for other sports! Will make sure to go back again and bring some more friends! read more

This bar formaly Teddy B's used to be a great place to go on a monday night and, would of got at least 4 stars but things changed. Cheap beers and mixed drinks, and heavy metal music.The only place for metal heads to unite in San Mateo County. Recently changed ownership and now called Route 92. I did give the new owner props for cleaning the place up with some new lights and a few flat screen tv's. At first I didn't mind the slight increase in prices for drinks as long as I heard metal music. As always great things come to a end too soon. The heavy metal music on mondays has stopped known as Metal Mondays. The new owner wants to change direction and make a sports bar type of thing. Whatever, I say, big mistake Mondays was the only day that bar would make any money, sounds like someone passed their marketing class(what makes profit, take away and lose money) I could swear it was the oppisite way. Long Live Metal Mondays wherever you are 2006-2008. read more
