Decent food and a pretty extensive menu, but what really lets this place down is the service. We had a party of 9 people including 2 young children. Once we were seated, we didn't see another member of staff for about 20 minutes. No one came to take a drinks order and, although they do provide crayons and colouring sheets for the kids, we had to ask for them and find them. Once someone came to take our order and they realised no-one had offered us drinks there was no apology and frankly she just seemed tired. As I said at the start, our food was ok but took AGES to arrive, well over 30 minutes, in which time we saw 2 tables that had seated well after ours get served. The restaurant menu states that they make their own burgers using local meat. Based on comments from 3 of our group, they probably shouldn't bother. American diners make a show of their burgers as they're pretty synonymous with the image of both America and diners. These were lifeless plates of food and apparently they tasted pretty average. I'm not one that requires the (usually very forced) query from servers about how the meal is while you're eating, but again there was no interest after we'd finished of whether it had been ok. On the way out, we walked past several members of staff and again, no thanks or goodbyes from anyone, just tired faces. American restaurants, for good or bad, are always linked with the image of happy, smiling, eager to please staff. Based on this first visit, I'd rather go to either of the far superior places just down the road in Plymouth. read more
