I couldn't find Hellman's Vegan Mayonnaise so I asked an employee to see about getting some in this store and I was informed if it wasn't in "the set" they couldn't get it. Period. On the other hand, the shelves were stocked and I found a lot of things at a decent price. They have a ton of alcohol, I mean shelves in sleeves. Whereas Walmart just has a little. While visiting the St. Charles Street location in Houma on the evening of February 9, 2026, my father's SUV was struck by a rolling shopping cart while parked in the lot. This was not due to weather or unusual circumstances--it reflects a failure to properly manage carts and maintain a safe environment for customers. We immediately reported the incident to store management, who came outside and took photos. However, after that initial interaction, there was no follow-up from store management. When I contacted corporate, I was told the claim had been turned over to their insurance company, Broadspire, which is not a BBB Accredited Business and has a yelp rating of 1.1/5. We promptly complied with all requests, including obtaining and submitting three repair estimates within two weeks. Despite this, there was no communication for over a month. On March 18, we were told by Matilda that the claim had been reassigned, and on March 19, we contacted the new agent, Chantelle, only to be informed that the claim was denied due to a lack of video footage. This response is unacceptable as the responsibility lies with the store to maintain control of carts and ensure their parking lot is safe. Rouse's has chosen not to take accountability for what is clearly a preventable issue. The lack of follow-up, poor communication, and ultimate denial of the claim reflect a disregard for customer safety and service. read more

This was like visiting a small city, everything you could think of was sold in the store. I spent hours , shopping and finding things i didn't know I needed. Admist, shopping i purchased lunch from the deli. The store is large and spacious. Items are displayed neatly and priced accordingly. Staff is around to answer questions. read more

Has everything you need and more; it reminds me of a Krogers (maybe the Cajun version). Seems well stocked and even has a lot of local/ Cajun items to differentiate it from a national chain. Interior is clean and well organized for the most part. read more

I enjoy all the cooking classes at Rouses. Chef Nino does a fantastic job. I did one recently here and Houma where they taught us how to make sushi at home. It was a great class and I got a lot out of it. Most of these events are poorly attended which is a shame because they offer some really great advice and some tasty treats. Rouse's knows what they are doing. When I first walked in the supermarket several years ago, I wished there was a location near me. Now I am fortunate to live near one and it is one of my favorite stores. On a recent trip to Houma (The Motherland), I went into this store and remembered why I liked it. My hometown store is almost a mirror image of this location. This store has excellent produce, meat and other items, but they also have an awesome staff. I only needed a couple of items on my most recent trip, but I also needed some keys made. This location didn't make keys, but the cashier was super helpful and finding me a place that did. She didn't know of any place so she called over another cashier. Together they were some of the most helpful employees of a store that I have encountered. They were so helpful that they offered for me to call the store and ask for them to give directions if I got lost. All this for a guy who bought a couple of items and was looking for another business. I wish I remembered your names, but Rouse's, you have some excellent employees. read more

So this review is just based of their King Cake. My Aunt sent my family a couple of King Cakes. A Pre-Mardi Gras tradition. I know what some of you are thinking. It looks like something that George Clinton made. Well whoever made it did a great job. The cake was really good. Tastes like a sugary cinnamon roll with Bavarian cream on the inside! This was shipped to us from Louisiana to Washington. It tasted very fresh, so great job on storage and shipping. By the way, I have an awesome Aunt!! P.S. The main part of the celebration was the baking of a King's Cake to honor the three Kings. The cakes were made circular to portray the circular route used by the kings to get to the Christ Child, which was taken to confuse King Herod who was trying to follow the wise men so he could kill the Christ Child. In these early King Cakes a bean, pea, or coin was hidden inside the cake. The person who got the hidden piece was declared King for the day or was said to have good luck in the coming year. read more

I love this Rouses, especially the bakery! I walked in needing a specific cake for my graduation which was the next day. The ladies in the bakery assured me they could make it and they did an even better job than I expected! I received so many compliments on my cake. It was sooo fresh, tasted great and was simply beautiful! I don't remember the bakery Manager's name but she personally called me to let me know 5 hours after I placed my order that my custom cake was ready for pick up! This place keeps me alive. It is the best Rouse's I have ever been to. Other Rouses are in dire-need of remodeling (ref the sto' on 5818 West Main and the sto' in Morgan City)... I will also add that this Rouse's is better than the one in N.O. on Tchoup across from Tips... yes its better. The people here are super-friendly too. There have been days when I was having a bad day, but left here having a good day because they are so friendly here. I like to come here and just hang out. While I try to get most of my shopping done directly from farmers and ranchers, there are just some things ya gotta get from the shop... like wine. And speaking of wine, Rouses wine selection is my Houma favorite so far (although I'm relatively new and haven't explored much). Rouses is a very clean and friendly store. All of the produce I have seen is kept fresh. I might not be looking in the right places, but I do wish there were more organic items such as apples, bananas, and chicken breasts (they do have one brand of whole organic chickens for about $4.60/lb... I think I'll wait the month until my farmer's next batch of Cornish X are ready). I do also wish they had uncured bacon... but I know that I'm getting pretty lofty with that idea. I was looking around for Abita root beer for probably twenty minutes and found no one to help me. I ended up chatting it up with the Dr. Pepper delivery guy and he couldn't find it either. I checked in soda, the end caps, the Abita section in the alcohol... no luck. Finally, when I checked out, I asked the girl checking me out if she knew where it might be and a few other employees piped in with their suggestions... one place being the bottom shelf in the juice aisle (SEVERAL aisles away from sodas), and I finally found my treasure. I wouldn't be so annoyed with the product placement if someone were available to help me on the floor, instead of waiting until I check out. The pizzas in their little cafe are totally legit. I wish they did take & bake (I was directed to some Rouses brand take&bake in a freezer, but I didn't want frozen pizzas). A 12" with up to 3 toppings is $5, more than 3 toppings costs $8. They bake them fresh and are super tasty! If you have water jugs you reuse, they do have a water hut in the parking lot, away from the front door, so it's pretty convenient to pop by and get some agua. Overall, it's a solid store. The staff is very helpful and friendly (when you finally get the assistance). They do not have cart corrals and I refuse to leave an empty cart in a perfectly good parking space, so today I ended up running my cart back in the thunderstorm... don't worry, I didn't drop my wine. read more

This is a huge really nice grocery store. Clean, well lit, and well laid out. I've never seen so many Zataran's products in my life. We were passing through Houma when the engine in our boat broke down. We ended up needing groceries and I came here because of the Yelp reviews. I was not disappointed. They have a great selection of your staples. As well as a nice natural/organics section. The produce and pre-made food all looked good. If you need any groceries definitely stop here. read more

I like this store, the have an organic selection, which I love, though the prices are sky high on most of them and the selection varies from week to week. The service is generally pretty good, have met some really nice people working there, especially in comparison to large grocery stores. read more

I didn't know it at the time, but this is one of the only supermarket type places in this area. I'm just visiting, and have only been here a few times. I will say that the store has fresh meat, and dairy at very nice prices. I e seen sales that would make me want to stock up and drive my haul back to houston! The veggies can be on the expensive side though, so you may want to hold off and go to Walmart for those things. I see they make and serve sushi and other things here...I've just not tried that yet. read more

Everyone was great. I couldn't find something on my list twice and on two separate times the workers I asked for help stop what they where doing to bring me to where the items where located. I gave it 4 stars only because the cashier I had named Colton wasn't very helpful or nice. I spent over 300 dollars on this trip and it was only my second time ever going to rouses but however spending 300 meant I had quite afew bags and instead of helping me he just stood there until other customer came to his line then would check their grocery out around mine.... I had a lot at the register as you can imagine and instead of helping a mother with two toddlers clearly struggling he would check them out around my stuff and acted like I was in his way.... I will never go back to his register again in my life. I just really thought that was messed up... and I never had a cashier act like that before..... he need to do better cause every other person was awesome couldn't ask for better but he really like hurt my feelings in away. read more

I completely agree with Suzanne. I can always count on Rouse's on St. Charles to find everything I need and then some. This store is truly amazing. I even bought a big gas grill here once! They have a small but nice floral department and a great deli/bakery complete with a huge selection of wonderful cheeses from around world. Though the deli is adjacent to a sub shop, they still serve hot cooked food and boast a wonderful soup bar. The wine shop could be a store in and of itself. It's very well stocked with a large variety. There is a very nice selection of organic products and a nice bulk section too. And if that wasn't enough, there is a liquor store and post office in the store! I really have never been to this location and was unable to find even the most obsure item. The only issue I have with this store is parking. The store is so popular, that you sometimes have to park pretty far away from the door. read more
