I have been a fan of this company since I was a young boy and things haven't changed. Recently I…read morewas asked to cater a dear friends wedding and being from out of state, over a 9 hour drive, I didn't want to bring the food. Remembering this store from my last visit, I placed an order with the corporate office to see which store had the quantity I needed etc. I was thinking that they would have to pool what was needed and it would be better than depleting stores of inventory and making an ordering nightmare. The Store manage of Rouses 16, Russell Clement, called me back within a day of ordering and had already had my list and items on hand accounted for according to cost per pound, size of each item, and total weight. From prime filet of beef to whole skin on loins of fresh caught tuna to the smallest detail of pipping bags, him and his staff bent over backwards to make this as painless as possible. We showed up an hour late with panic in our eyes. My Chef de Cuisine and I had misplaced our menu, menu list, prep times, bake times, ingredient list, hardware list etc. Being ones to work well under pressure, we sat down with a morning coffee and rewrote a new menu. Trying to keep it simple because I hadn't been here in sometime, I wasn't sure of the incidentals that they had and we needed to hurry and apply what we could to the existing proteins we had holding in cold storage from our earlier order. Russell greeted us and handed over a clip board and pen and was never more than 30 feet away. He gave us the space we needed to work and rewrite the menu but always making sure that our time was of utmost importance. When we asked for something, it was there. His staff were like that of a fine restaurant, you waited for nothing. It was as if they had several options waiting in the wings and what we needed was always one that they preplanned. Jeremy escorted me to the butcher station and showed me our lamb, goat, and filet order. I asked if he could french cut the lamb and at what price and without hesitation, he said would have it ready and at no cost. That saved my staff at least 2 hours of prep time. We also asked for the waste for stocks and that was wrapped and stored separately. I could go on for hours about the meat section alone but the bread department,t with Heidi and the others, was amazing as well. Our order was taken, baked then cut and ready for delivery the next morning. Their calm cool and collectiveness kept us on track as the minutes ticked away of our prep time. As I walked down the isles, I added at least 5 new menu items simply because I wasn't expecting to find the complete sections of Far east, and middle eastern items. Everything from Indian to Asian allowed me to make added changes that would cut down on prep and cooking time. After 3 hours of shopping, we were finally done. Caviar, prime filet, tuna, lamb, goat, oysters, shrimp and crab meat, were the main ingredients with many more in the buggy, ended up just over 3500.00 dollars for a catering job for 100 people. Russell, Heidi, Jeremy, Winnie, Antole, Ben and the rest of the staff at Rouses 16, thank you for making my job that much easier. This place has everything from an amazing selection to an incredible staff.

Probably my favorite Rouse's to date. They were clean and they had a lot of healthy options. I was…read moreable to find quite a few of the obscure items on my list (like red curry sauce). It was a successful grocery trip.

On December 21, 2025 my wife and I along with our grandkids stop in to pick up a few items. We…read morewere sent to a self check-out register by one of the 6 associates that were standing watching everyone (this is all they offer) and began to scan our products. Nothing was scanning, which is very frustrating, and an associate came and started to school us on how to use the register. " You can't scan when you see the red bar down here," so I replied, "I don't know what a red bar means you sent me here." This the new norm and I don't like it! By By Felicia!!

As an "in-store" contract worker, invited in by Walmart for Independent marketing purposes, I had…read moreseveral days to observe how this particular Walmart Neighborhood Market ran. Excellent. Let's start with the thing that customers want to see...cashiers in the checkout lanes. This Walmart had them! Remember when Walmarts everywhere would open up a new lane if there were more than 3 people in line. THIS Walmart STILL does that! And many of the morning employees, no matter what job they are assigned that morning, are cash register trained. So, if the lines start forming, even the managers and floor managers jump in and take a register! These folks are a well oiled machine. Speaking of managers, the ones at this Walmart have excellent people skills. It looks almost effortless, how they get quick, agreeable from their employees. I never heard a harsh word or demeaning criticism. And I never saw a manager stand still, much less sit down or just disappear. Let's talk about the associates at this store. They were smiling 99.9% of the time. Genuinely. And there was no drama among them. They really did like working with each other. This is so rare. Their main focus is the customer, so each associate is trained well to just flow where the need is most. It's a piece of cake to use the self-checkout at this Walmart. If you can't get it, there's an associate right there to help, often even before you ask. The produce section is laid out well, attractive and inviting. From my vantage point, the shelves stay well-stocked. Their pharmacy is run by courteous, efficient and knowledgeable pharmacists and pharmacy workers. The wait time appears to be minimal most times of the day. That's handy when prescriptions are need as quick as possible. Located on one end of the city, this Walmart is situated to cater to senior citizens, families with young children and local college students. It's a great atmosphere at this Walmart and one that would make anyone's trip to the grocery more pleasant than just another errand.

While I'm not crazy about Bourgeois Meat Market's andouille sausage, which I have found to be a bit…read moretough, I enjoy their regular smoked sausage, and I'm a huge fan of their Cajun Smoked Tasso. For the uninitiated: Tasso is fast-cured, seasoned, and smoked pork shoulder. It's used in stews and simmered foods, softening as it cooks, adding a delicious, unique flavor and bite that's typical of many Southern Louisiana (read: Cajun) dishes. Tasso's difficult to describe, but you'll know it when you taste it. I just received four 1-lb. packages of tasso, shipped from Bourgeois' smokehouse in Gray, LA via FedEx 2Day. The order arrived in good shape, and though the ice packs surrounding the meats had melted, the tasso was smoked (and so, fully-cooked) and it was vacuum-sealed. It went straight into my freezer, and it'll be fine. The cost to ship from Lafourche Parish to San Diego doubled the price of the product, from $7.24/lb to around $15, but I pay that much (or more) for quality steaks and seafood, here at home, and it was my choice to spend top-dollar for meat that I know, from experience, will make my gumbo, red beans, etc. taste better than I could otherwise make them. Kudos to the folks at Bourgeois Meat Market for offering a high-quality product, and for handling the purchase and shipping in a professional manner. I like visiting their shop when I'm in the area, but I LOVE that they don't make me get on a plane to eat what they're cookin'!
