I've been coming to Round1 for years, and I can honestly say it's still one of the best arcades in the area. The variety of games is fantastic, with something for all ages and interests, which is one of the reasons I keep coming back. I also love that they've expanded their food menu to include Japanese cuisine while still offering classic arcade favorites and finger foods, so there's something for everyone to enjoy. The biggest reason for my rating is the pricing. Unfortunately, it's become incredibly expensive, especially with today's cost of living. It just doesn't feel like you get enough game credits for the amount of money you're spending. I recently took a few of my family members out here, and spent about $50 per person on game credits alone and even then, it still didn't feel like enough to really enjoy everything the arcade has to offer. If you're bringing multiple kids, it's easy to spend hundreds of dollars once you factor in games, food, and additional activities like bowling. That's what makes this so disappointing. We genuinely love Round1 and would probably visit much more often if it were more affordable. The experience itself is still a lot of fun, but the rising cost makes it difficult to justify frequent visits. read more

This review comes from a platinum member, which means I've spent a ton of money and time here, but I've had enough. I will never EVER spend another dime here, they lost my business indefinitely! I won't even give them the pleasure of walking through the business to get inside of the mall. The third party rent a cops here are rude as hell, the guy with glasses uses foul language to cuss out people and he was never taught how to read a clock. They have a stupid rule here where they close the side door and main gate to the mall at 7pm and require people to walk all the way around and show ID to get inside. ID? For what? Is this an arcade or a god damn night club???? They closed the door 10 mins early and we called them out for it and they sure didn't like that. We had to walk around the whole building in a blizzard. Bowling is expensive as hell, for example, 2 games for 4 people was around 80 dollars. The food sucks. They rip you off with game credits. Trust me, I've been to Japan where the real round1s are, it's 100yen per try, which is like 63 cents. Here it's about 14 credits which is about $3.5 a try. (Yeah I know, we're not in Japan, "go play in Japan then", which is exactly what I'll do when I go back, maybe) When they first opened it was great, all crane games were 9 credits. All of the Slop ticket redemption games are upfront, But all the rythem/Import games are in the back left, Awesome selection of UFO Catchers and other skill based claw games that arnt rigged, Was able to win several prizes first try. Area is quiet enough to be able to fully focus on any Rythem game played, People and employees are great and I will 100% be coming back! My one Peeve is that StepManiax Needs its panels cleaned, Horrobly uncalibrated makes it unplayable. but outside of that all the other games worked wonderfully, And they had a selection of rare rythem games! DO NOT GO FOR BOWLING! they have tons of signs saying not responsible for damage to personal equipment yadda yadda yadda. I get that makes sense if I misuse and damage my equipment they don't want to be on the hook which I get. I brought 2 balls with me and they are both pock marked with gouges to the point I noticed the damage because it caught my towel while drying the ball. I now have a 250 dollar ball that I don't know if it can be fixed and just bought it a month ago mind you I've probably played over 100 games with it and there were only scuffs on the ball no chips like that. I'll be going to my local pro shop with fingers crossed the more expsive of the two can be saved (it had the worse damage ) not to mention the lane had beer or other sticky substances all over hopefully can get those clean. So while my money was refunded I'm possibly out at least one ball and possibly my bowling shoes as well. So for the low cost of 33.50 for 120 minutes I'm now possibly on the hook for 300+ dollars absolutely ridiculous. Very fun! I recommended going on a Tuesday or Wednesday night. On those days, we were able to get 9-10 plushies. Although it was a bit weird this experience we had because it felt like there were no workers there at all. When my daughter won one of the prizes where you had to ask the attendant to get there happened to be barely anyone near by. We were going to get some food but we decided to not because the prices are a bit pricey. Although this whole experience is pricey it's very fun. We sat in a booth and it was overall clean. As we were walking around though there happened to be random stuff all around. But I can see why because they were remodeling and getting new machines. I recommend this very much! read more

I am visiting my hometown for the holidays and noticed Round1 at the mall. I guess it is new, but I have not been to Great Lakes Mall for over a year now! I am a sucker for a barcade and Round1 is very similar to a Dave and Buster's vibe. It is also a bowling place so this place is huge! We came here to celebrate a cousin's birthday since it is a family friendly place. When you walk in, you are instantly mesmerized by the colors of the different games and the noises. Unless you already have one of their game cards to add in credits, you have to purchase one or I think it takes off 8 credits. I honestly cannot remember. With drinks, food, and purchasing credits, which I believe it was $20 for 90 credits, we spent probably almost $100, but we were there for about 2 hours for 3 people plus spending money on others so honestly it was not a bad deal for a fun night. You can get bud light for $3.99 for a pint or $5.99 for a schooner. You can get most glasses of wine for $1.99, but we got moscato for $3.99. Is it the best wine or beer? No, but it's cheap so I cannot complain. The food prices are not too terrible either, but do not expect high quality food if you are coming here. They have SO many game choices for people of all ages. They have skee ball, to race car driving, to Mario, to Dance Dance revolution, to Halo. You think of it, the game is probably there. The prizes offered are actually decent. They have a lot of Japanese items, such as Rilakkuma, which is an expensive stuffed animal brand to buy in the first place. It takes a decent amount of games to get higher end prizes, but play your cards right and you will end up with something decent! I would most definitely come back. Fun until the general manager decided to blatantly rip us off. I took my 12 year old son to Round1 in Mentor, OH on 10/8/2022. One of the last games he played was Skee Ball. He scored 46,000 points after getting his last 3 balls in one of the 10,000 point holes. When we went to redeem the tickets for prizes, we were told there were only 895 tickets on his card. When I questioned this, I was told that the Skee Ball machine actually says "1,000 points", which is converted into fewer tickets. This sounded fishy, because we had spent $33 on various games and I was sure that we won at least 800 tickets just on the other games. But I let this go until my son reminded me of the video on my phone that I took of him "winning" his last Skee Ball game. I looked at the video, and sure enough it clearly shows everything, including my son rolling the last ball into the 10,000 point hole and the machine showing "1,000 tickets" and 46,000 points and as he's jumping up and down in excitement. I tried to explain this to the young man working the prize counter, but he wouldn't give in. Then I tried explaining it to a young woman who he brought over to look at the gameplay on the computer behind the prize desk. She also wouldn't budge. Finally, the general manager came by. He watched the video on my phone. He asked when this happened and I told him it was about 10 or 15 minutes prior. He asked for proof with a timestamp on the video, which I showed him. Even after all of this, he still refused to give my kid the 1,000 tickets that was rightfully won. I told the GM that this is a matter of principle - we have proof that my son won 1,000 tickets or that his business has false advertising, the tickets would cost Round1 maybe a couple dollars worth of prizes, and he should do the right thing. He still refused, and when I said that I would file a complaint with the BBB he said to go ahead. Unbelievable! Please find another arcade to spend your money at... one where the employees and (especially) top management have integrity. read more

My boyfriend surprised me with a date night here on a Saturday shortly before 8pm. Crowd wise, it was a little more packed than what we've been used to with Covid precautions the past year, but it is pretty easy to maintain social distancing. I'd say about 25% of the games were out of order, but there are still plenty of games to play. We played games including skee ball, air hockey, a shooter game, fruit ninja, deal or no deal, basketball, whack a clown, and flappy bird! There were also tons of claw machines, with little and big prizes. I managed to surprise Andrew with a mini Koopa Troopa!! We didn't get to bowling or pool, but I wouldn't mind coming back with some friends for that. Overall, he spent $100 total for 2 cards with 260 credits each, but it also costs $1 for a card. I've been to Round 1 a few times. I wanted to get the full scope prior to reviewing. It is a nice entertainment place that is bigger inside than one would assume. Unless you are invested in spending the day here it can take a few visits to get the full experience just because of the variety of things to do. The staff is friendly enough, but they don't necessarily go out of their way for anything. The video game area has many options to choose from. I found good choices for all ages. The card system for purchase to play the games is a little more intense than other like places, but still worth trying out. The billiards area is very nice. They managed to fit a decent amount of tables in an area without making it feel cramped or impeding play. The games are also reasonably priced. I would love to comment on their bowling area, but I have always encountered a 2 hour wait time for a lane. Needless to say, I have not bowled here. They also have a karaoke room with a private setup. I have not managed to convince any groups I've gone with to try this out yet, but I'm hopeful one day we will. One area for improvement is the drinks. I cannot make sense of the pricing. How my husband's draft was almost double the price of my cocktail is beyond me. Thankfully there is a price list posted on a card by the bar register in case you don't want to go in blind. The food however, needs no improvement. Everything has always been fresh and surprisingly delicious. I say surprisingly because it surpasses the taste and quality you'd expect from bar food or a gaming spot. I don't know why this place only has 3 stars. If you like claw machines this is the place to go. They have like 50 all different styles and types. The claws are UFO catchers with a nod to Asian culture. They have SO many games! Mario Cart, Tomb Raider, Halo, Jurassic Park, The Walking Dead, and many more. It can be chaotic at times, but I personally haven't had a problem. They have security and I've been there late night at 2am and there are still a bunch of people. Round1 is modeled on the Tokyo Arcade, which makes it very different from most arcades I've been to. Edit: I didn't even mention the prizes! The prize area has anime figures, game consoles, rare board games, drones, shirts, and much more that you can acquire with tokens. 3.5 stars. I was here on a Friday night for a friend's birthday party. Surprisingly, it wasn't too busy. It is spacious and seems to have more arcade games than the Round1 I visited in New York. Since I was starving, I decided to order food and drinks first before playing games. The menu is typical and consists of wings, pizza, burgers, nachos, French fries and etc. Unlike Dave and Busters, they do not have waiter service so you have to order at the counter. When your food is ready, they will announce it over the speaker. There is also a rule that you can only buy one alcoholic drink at a time so if you want another one you will have to stand in line again. They have a small military discount if you plan to play pool, bowling or sing karaoke, but there isn't one for arcade games. My boyfriend and I decided to purchase the $50 game card. Sadly, we spent all of our credits within 30 minutes playing claw games that are quite addicting. The claw games are 9 credits each which is a lot. Round1 is definitely more expensive than Dave and Busters. The difference between the two arcades is that Round1 has Japanese games and way more claw games. Although it is fun, I wouldn't recommend going here often because you would go broke. read more

About 70% of the games work. The cards are finicky so you pay for a game but have to wait 3 minutes for it to start; I didn't so I hardly played. Going to customer service about it is useless. They will check your game play and see that someone played each time and let you know there's nothing they can do. Challenge it. All it took was me raising my voice for them to open up the cash register but not provide an apology for the bad experience. Save your money and take the kids to build a bear or to another arcade. There's no way to know if you won the claw games but there are random confusing rules above the machines. What a mess. read more

The kids love it here! There's so much to do you won't ever get bored! The unlimited bowling is awesome! They have games, pool and karaoke. To start off my review, I want to say that I haven't bowled here so I won't be giving my thoughts on that as it wouldn't be fair. I recently moved to Ohio, (I know, why would i), and found out through some friends about a place called Round 1. I then started coming here since very late 2019, about a year after they opened. When I first starting coming here, the place was relatively clean, staff was attentive, and maybe about 1 or 2 games were out of service. The ticket prices were very reasonable for the amount of money spent, and the prizes you could win were very obtainable and not too challenging to win. Even some crane games were a bit busted in terms of winning odds. I easily have walked away on a good night with 12-15 plushies. Fast forward to February of 2022, things have gone downhill BAD. For starters, 40% of the games work, and that is not an exaggeration. If you walk through the entire arcade, you will find no matter what direction you turn your head, there will be a flashing scanner that is "Out of order" or a blank screen. Another 20% of the games are actually destroyed, buttons are broken, a handful of screens are broken, it's very sad to see. This has been happening since mid 2021, and some machines are still not working since then as of writing this review. The prices for scanning a ticket has doubled or even tripled on EVERY single game as well. Before for some crane games, you could scan one game for about 3-6 tickets. Those same games now are 8-12. It is a straight up scam now. I've easily spent $1000 at this location alone for dozens of weekends of fun with my friends, and leaving with a handful of prizes. That is no longer the case, what is the point of putting money on a card when all of the games are broken? The staff are either non existent or not willing to help with any request either. It is a chore to get someone to open a crane game to get a prize. If you do win, expect to wait about 5-10 minutes for someone to come over. Now I do understand they are short staffed, especially on the weekends. But on a Wednesday night with about 6 people playing games, and 1 person winning, should it really be that difficult to get someone to come unlock the machine? The cleanliness of the place has also gone downhill hard. Buttons are never cleaned, and some screens have actual vomit on them. This is not a joke, there are chunks on the machines screen behind Bust-a-move. After a few games, you're guaranteed to feel disgusted. Overall, this place used to be a blast. I would have no problem dropping $100 for a night full of hours of fun. I'm sad to say I will not be visiting this location again, and I hope the owner can kick it into high gear and turn this place around. A LOT of work needs to be done to get this place back to what it was before. read more

There were pinball machines, skee ball, various racing games, and shooter games just to be a few. All the staff and guests were required to wear masks. Guest could remove them to eat or drink. I'll start off by saying I'm biased, and I know it. Round1 has several hard-to-find arcade games, include several games that no one else in America has. I'm a fan of several of those games, so it automatically gets respect. Where they've done exceptionally well is maintenance. I've spent a lot of my life in arcades, and there's nothing more frustrating than games that barely work, ESPECIALLY when you can't tell until after you've already paid for the game. Round1's maintenance has been solid, and on the odd occasion where a game has malfunctioned on me, once I track down a tech they're happy to give me another swipe to make up for it. That said, I can totally understand what their flaws are, and why they upset other people. The food selection is super limited (stuff like pizza, burgers, chicken tenders, and fries, all of which are pretty dang average). Their beer/wine specials are nice ($2 domestic drafts and house wines all day every day) and they have a pretty decent selection of bottles too. The setup at the bar is a bit of a pain (only 1 register) but I suspect that's on purpose to prevent anyone from getting too lit. I tell most people that Round1 is like if Dave & Busters stopped pretending they were a real restaurant, and decided to just be a better arcade. Eat before you go, don't expect to have more than 1 or 2 drinks (besides, you gotta drive home), and you'll do fine. BONUS TIP: For the claw games, they have pictures mounted above the glass telling you EXACTLY how to win them. If you don't win after 1 or 2 tries, the prize is probably stuck, so just move on to another one and come back later. They've always got a tech walking around, making sure the prizes are set up properly, so they'll put it back where it's supposed to be. read more
